Retool for Cap Relief
AZs not taking any salary. I think the only thing that interests them are picks and LTIR contracts.

11th OA and another 1st is a pretty good offer. If he's walking to free agency and hitting the trade market, that's probably one of the best offers.

Moving up 2 in 1st and 4 in 2nd. Bedards the peice you build around, Dubes maybe a piece that goes around him. Pretty sure rebuilding teams like good RFAs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pikey_777</b></div><div>I believe that Edmonton matches on Bouchard, which puts them in an even tougher spot. If not, he is more serviceable than you are making him out to be, and he is only 23.
I think the bertuzzi stuff is overrated, we may have to go to $6 mil to entice him, but my question to you then? Do you think he would be a good fit for the flames?
Severson got a 3rd on a sign and trade, a 2nd (especially buffalos) is good management. If you can also get a 3rd (or another 2nd) great. Buffalos young D would benefit greatly from Tanev in their lineup.
Hannifin is a tough one for me, because who needs a #2 Left Shot D, who has the cap to take him on? I liked Pitt as a landing spot for him, but what more do you want or could get for him? A first and a second?</div></div>
Washington needs LD, has a better OA pick, and is trying to remain competitive.
Dubas will trade down his pick for a 2nd, no need to give him Hanifin.

Not enough value for CBJ, they can just pick Carlsson and buy Lindholm next year (or another free agent).

Flames Offseason - Surging Back To The Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Based on what? The exit interviews?
1. They never said anything like that
2. that was before the Sutter firing
3. It was fresh off the season ending, frustration is at it's max
4. It has been reported that players have rescinded any trade requests after the Sutter firing</div></div>
Backlund seemed pretty non comital going back to the charity poker tournament, Lindholm Im just basing off exit interviews.
IF the rooms already toxic, IF guys are already thinking of leaving, does changing the coach actually convince them to stay?

Yeah but losing and replacing a 1C like Lindholm, within Huberdeau and Kadri's window, is gonna be tough.

Flames Offseason - Surging Back To The Playoffs
Should be fine next season but beyond that is scary. Lindholm and Backlund both sound like they won't be returning.
Lot's of potential turn over, depleted draft capital, and a core of +30 players on expensive long term deals.
The windows closing pretty quick in Calgary if we don't hit on some of our young guys.

Yeah it's a lot but I doubt Seattle really considers it either, Francis would have to be drunk and missing Hanifin and Lindholm.
I think Shanes still a good bet, his developments been screwed by covid and Seattle played some games to slide his contract.

Only 2 years left on the contract, how about one of the later 2nd rounds.

Suppose they do re-sign here
-What's the maximum Matthews could get out of Toronto or on the open Market?
-It's hard to argue he's worth more than McDavid and McKinnon beyond inflation.
- I think it's really hard for Toronto to pay more than 14 million AAV.
-Would any team pay him 15 million (or more), to steal him?

Gimme Zadorov
Zadorovs pretty great, makes some pretty questionable plays sometimes, usually when he gets caught flat footed. He's also so big and gangly he looks really awkward moving the puck. He uses his reach to get around guys a lot, usually goes in his favor but it looks super risky when he does it. Delivers lots of great hits.
2nds probably a decent offer, don't know if Calgary would accept, probably depends on how expensive he is to extend.

My lines for last 7 games
I like Pelts and Rosy, wish they had gotten a better look earlier in the season, maybe we wouldn't be in such a tough spot right now. BUT neither have done anything in their last 10 games. I think it maybe too much of risk to play them RN. I also think Lewis should stay in, great on the PK, solid and responsible.
I would like to see Coronato in instead of Looch, I like the idea of putting him with Coleman and Backlund.

Hi there
As mentioned Markstrom probably wouldn't wave but I think most of the fan base would be fine with him leaving after this season.
Want Mangiapane too? That's an opinion that often gets me dragged by the fan base but with Ruzicka, Pelletier and Zary in the hopper we don't need a 6 million dollar, middle 6 guy, who only excels in contract years.

Hopefully lines
Dropping Coronato right into the top line is asking a lot, I would ease him in with Backlund and Coleman.
Putting Pelts or Coronato with Kadri without Huby also sounds like a bad idea to me, he's been death to a lot of guys production this year (namely Dube and Mang). I like the idea of giving him Toffoli, we haven't seen it and he'll likely produce regardless.
I'd like to see Huby, Lindy, Mang.
Maybe Dube, Kadri, Toffoli, Dube and Toffoli work well together, hopefully that counters how Dube and Kadri don't.
Coleman, Backlund, Coronato
Duehr deserves a look up the lines but he's doing well down on the 4th. I'd like to see Pelts and or Rosy in but realistically it's gonna be Looch and Lewis.

I think the Flames only have one non emergency call up left? I don't know for sure, but around the trade deadline when Pelts and Duehr were sent down to be eligible for the AHL playoffs, then called back up, it was mentioned that it would burn 2 of 3 call ups. I think the limit comes into effect after the TDL?

Though I do think our lines needed some tinkering i think this is just absurd. I konda hope that we just promote Sutter to president of hockey ops this summer. That way he's not GM and he's not coach but he's still part of the organization. He's still got a good relationship with ownership and that is an important thing for that position as dealing with ownership is one of their main purposes.</div></div>
Kinda puts whoever the GM is, in a tough position to be able to do their job with any sort of autonomy, but if it gets him off the bench I'm cool with it.

I would say Huby and Lindholm have the potential to be considered that, but just aren't there this year. I would agree that they need an elite goal scorer to complement them. Too bad there weren't any of those for sale this year 🙄
