This Should be the Target

Quoting: Terry_AkiSauce

Where did I say he has no value and according to other Flyers fans you lack depth at RW and the Leafs are probably the deepest team in the NHL at RW so there's probably a deal to be made

From the team explanation "I think Myers is a great guy that doesn't have heaps of value at the moment " and I disagree with that.
Further, we could possibly use an inexpensive 3RW - IF the Flyers ship out another winger. Right now our top 9 wingers are G, Lindblom, JVR, Voracek, Konecny, and Farabee. That doesn't include Laughton, who has been very effective on the second line recently. So yeah, you may be deep at RW, but we aren't really hurting either. We need a RHD, a backup goalie and a 3C if Laughton stays on the wing. None of those holes will be filled by getting rid of Myers.

$11M contract, NMC, about to be 30, Flat Cap for 3 years. Its not impossible, but it would be incredibly difficult to move. Unless he had another teams bed sheets perhaps?

The Flyers NEED a top 4 LHD as well. I get that Deangelo can put up points, but he is used in a fairly protect manner this year, and we have plenty of guys on the backend that can hold their own in the O-zone. Real questions is why give up a highly-regarded, young, 2-way dman for a more expensive offensive specialist. I'd rather play Ghost in those minutes than lose Sanhiem and juggle two guys that need to be protected to be successful.

That's not even close. Flyers don't need another LW and wouldn't be able to give up younger, affordable pieces to take the cap hit. There is a whole bunch of these imaginationland Gaudreau trades out there, but this is truly out there.
The only reason he is even linked to the Flyers is his hometown in South Jersey. There is no fit. Look for a team that a) has trouble scoring and b) has cap space.

That’s not even close to what it would take. Kapanen is a nice player, but between the roster depth and prospect pool upfront, the only way I see the flyers adding a winger is if another one was being shipped out... and it certainly won’t be at the expense of our young Dmen.

Pietrangelo signs with PHI
Ghost only based on this injury plagued season, upcoming expansion, solid and stacked blueline is probably a tad of a steal for a late 2nd and a late 3rd, but Philly might make that deal based on those facts and the cap space it creates.
I think looking at the team defensive depth, expansion and the UFA list, that there are a lot of options at RD that don't cost as much as Petro. Cap space is no problem for the flyers, as they only have laughton, sanheim and hart to re-sign next year, with niskanen/raffl coming off. I think Ghost goes in trade and JVR becomes trade bait or expansion choice (with a pick thrown in).
PHI protects Provorov, Sanheim and Myers in expansion and I think next year they go with Provo-Niskanen, Sanheim-Myers as top 4, with a 3rd pairing of Hagg/Zamula/youngster and a vet RD. they can get a RD at lesser term and cost (maybe around 3-4mil for 3-4 years) in Shattenkirk, Big Buff, Barrie, Schultz, Tanev, Braun, Gudas, TVR, Bogosian, Demelo.
In 2 years time, they'll have Giroux, coots and other cap issues, so cant see them spending big and long term on Petro.

Actually I think the Flyers have a good a chance of any team to sign Petro. They have the cap, and are a good team. Question is more of Philly management, do they want to spend 8.5m on a UFA.
Don't worry about the return for on the Ghost, if it means a upgrade with Petro.

if the flyers do end up signing Pietrangelo, then they would have no choice as to trade Gostisbehere and they won't get full value for him. I can see the Habs giving up 2 draft picks for a LD.

I feel like you guys have a ton of prospects you could give up and you still have all your picks. Im sure theyd take Ratcliffe, O'Brien or Brink

The team looks strong as hell but you'd lose Myers to Seattle, unless you pay a few assets to keep him

Hallway
I dislike the trade for the Flyers for 3 reasons.
1) We dont have the salary space to absorb the contract without sending any money back.
2) Myers is the only right-handed dman that we have under team control after next season. We are super light on that side.
3) As much as I'd like to add another superstar, LW is a position of strength. We have Lindblom (led the team in scoring at the time of his illness), Giroux (drives much of the offense especially PP), JVR (still scores at a decent clip), and Farabee (rookie with two-way upside ).
I would love to get a player of JG's quality but it makes the roster holes much more significant and cap space <0
TL;DR: it makes us stronger at a position of strength and much weaker at a position of weakness.

He will probably get $1.5-2 million. Lindblom was putting up really good numbers this year and if it weren't for his cancer would have had a great season the way he was playing. Patrick's medical issues are a bit less certain as to what is happening now that Lindblom has completed treatment. I think giving him a 1 year deal at $1.5 is a good move for both parts. Flyers don't have the commitment to a lenthy or salary that could hurt the team if he can't perform at a high level and Patrick and go out there and prove he is worth a more substantial contract if healthy.

I dont disagree about Frost especially after the weight he put on. I can see him stealing the spot but for some reason the org really like NAK's 5v5 play driving and penalty drawing. That 3rd line needs a 5v5 play driver so i think they try it out. But like you said Frosty can do that too. Fabree would be nice but he needs to bulk up he is one skinny dude haha.

Alright alright a legitimate offseason
Would love if Chuck can sign TK and Provy to those deals. Also love that Puljujarvi deal; if he ends up being as bad as he was in EDM, then we can just bury him in Lehigh, and if he figures his sh*t out, he would be a steal. My only issue is that it seems to logjam the youngins. But I guess Frost/Farabee can battle it out with Puljujarvi for that 3rd line spot for the next few years.
