Who wants Markstrom
All teams just spend cap on UFAs, instead of giving up assets to obtain Mango and Markstorm. Now if somewhat equal cap was going back to the Flames, then the Flames would get some picks.
Wolf and Vladar??? Flames are looking at a lottery pick. IMO Wolf will never be a good NHL. goalie

Moves that should happen and moves that should be considered
Trading away long term expensive contracts is really difficult, unless the same cap is returned to the Flames.
Unfortunately for Flames fans, Trevliving signed too many long term expensive contracts that might not have trade value

Lines for FLO if Matthews is playing
I guess Matthews isn't getting any goals, since the Leafs will be on the PK so much with those Reaves cross check penalties.
For a player who big time puck possession, Matthews doesn't get hit much. He's a master of stripping the puck from players, especially Dmen along the boards, and then with his big body, shielding the puck and his stick from defenders. Matthews doesn't hit that much either. But again he's a master of leaning his big body on players to squeeze them off the puck.
When a player "hits" he often loses his leg momentum and they isn't so effective even if the puck is retrieving. Retrieving the puck with speed control of your body is a premium asset.
Matthews reminds of Crosby. Using his strong core and legs, to maintain balance and puck control.

"Where did I go wrong." Trading players with M NTCs to poor teams with cap. Won't happen. Jarnkrok and Kampf stay.
Having Minten a Leaf in October.
Too much term for Roy, Pesce and Domi....and they probably deserve a lot more $$$$, but long term contracts to aging playing isn't wise

Trading away long term and perceived non value contracts.........Jarry, Rakell, Graves is next to impossible, especially if they have trade restrictions.

Isn't it strange that the Pens can trade 5.375m Jarry can be traded and the then sign the apparently just as good Nedeljkovic for 2.5m? Gotta think the Devils can find just as good goalie as Jarry on the UFA market cheaper than Jarry.

Two bad takes. Tavares isn't injured (Robidas was) and to think M NTC Kampf can be trade anywhere, c'mon.
Two more worse takes....paying a good 3C Lindholm 7m for 7 years, and having Pesce for 6 years.

PLAYOFFS
I don't know if there any problems with Brodie, mental outlook.
But he has definitely slowed down considerably, which leads to bad decision making.
Leafs have nine NHL Dmen, but game to game you don't know who is going to play well and who is going to play poorly.
At this time, my three selections were off the team would be Brodie, Lyubushin and Edmundson. Edmundson because he hasn't played enough lately. Of course any roster decisions can change due to erratic Leaf play. 10PM tonight I might change my mind. 10 PM Wednesday. could be different too.

Prove it deal?? I think by now 29 year old Lindholm has established what he is. For some reason folks think 65 point man Tavares is bad, but 45 point Lindholm is the answer.
Leafs aren't going with 20 man lineup and six NHL Dman.

Edmundson has been sick/injured he has to get back in the lineup before the playoffs.
Luby has looked poor.
Don't know how Robertson can be out of the lineup.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>Torts was well on his way to the playoffs when they lost Hart and the goalie play fell apart because they didn't have one. You can't deny he turned that team around already.
You can correlate their collapse with Harts absence.
But just to end this.
I'll just say this. Torts roasted a journalist this year for trying to drag Kevin Hayes, who he did not get along with as a player, into the Cutter Gauthier conversation. He could have not stood up for him. But he did. He's not going to mince words. He ripped the journalist, and said Hayes was a good man even if they couldn't get along on how to play. But it's not like he didn't care about the guy or held some grudge against him. If you'd actually seen those press conferences, like the after CBJ got a win against PIT in the playoffs after playing really well but losing game after game... you'd get it.
He knew his team was out gunned, and they played hard every game but couldn't get a win. When they finally did, he was just like I'm happy for the kids, I'm glad they get to play some music and enjoy this. Truth is, he knew they would lose that series. But just wanted them to have some fun after all the work they put in and it not be some horrible experience.
But people like you don't see that side of him and come to conclusions. There is a reason guys like Nick, Anderson, PLD, Savard, Dubinski, Jenner, etc.... would have gone through a wall pounding on other teams and dropping gloves for that team. It started with the coach. And that's a trait frankly MANY coaches lack. No one on PIT is going through a wall for that team. Nor TOR, or many other teams. A lot of that has to do with the coaches there.</div></div>
Again you are putting your subjective love for Torts and subjective hate for the Leafs (and other teams). OK you are entitled to that opinion, but "going through the wall) isn't fact.
Besides a few few good/great seasons, his coaching record is medicore at best. Still think he a superior coach fine, but your distain for other successful coaches is an appalling bad take.
"Homerism" at the worse.
Sorry your hate for some other coaches just because they aren't as great on camera as the self publicizing as Torts is affects your logical thoughts on other opinions
Good bye.

You know if the NHL hadn't expanded so much, and only teams that could support themselves financially. The NHL revenues were by significantly more per team and the cap would be higher.
Maybe not 163m as you suggest in this post, but much higher and the hockey would be so much better.

You're just getting silly in your defence of Trevling and your distain for Dubas.
Somehow the Leafs are worse than last year. Points, position in standings, GF GAA, PK and PP.
Mikheyev was certainly fine with the Leafs....given his contract. But glad he wasn't resigned
Holl was excellent value at 2m
Engvall and Jarnkrok certainly played to their contracts.
Every team has Malkin and Petan type of player. Replaceable 4th or 5th liners.
I wasn't a Dubas supporter, but for anyone to think Trevling has done better.....just not factually based
You're getting to be unreadable due to your irrational posts.
