<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div><i>So, the Panthers trade for Read, so the Flyers have enough cap space to sign Jagr. Why send the Flyers back to cap hell with the signing of Lucic at 6.5m?</i></div></div>

They actually arent in that bad of shape in the long term if you look at Long Term Outlook. Streit and Schultz come off the books at 7.5 mill total in 17-18 and they get replaced by Sanhiem and Morin. You resign Gudas and Del Zotto and your defensive man are Provorov, Ghost, Del Zotto, Gudas, Sanhiem and Morin.

With Lucic, the top 6 is solidified. And the bottom 6 can be patched together by low paid veterans and ELC.

The Flyers wouldn't be in that bad of a shape after the 16-17 season. They would have 29 mil available to resign Mason, Ghost, Del Zotto, and maybe Gudas. These are high estimates but lets say 7 mil for mason, 5 Mill for Ghost, 5 Mill for Del Zotto, and 2 Mil For Gudas, with that you still have 10 million left.

Also Konency, Provorov and Sanhiem contracts slide while Simmonds in under his current deal. I think the Flyers need to take advantage of Simmonds contract. It is a ******* steal for a 30 goal scorer. Lucic makes the team deeper in the short term and replaces Simmonds in the long run aka let him walk in the last year, as the flyers would need to resign rookies like Konency, Provorov, and Sanhiem in 19-20 and even then there are more contracts coming off the books in 19-20. They could have another 1.6 Million in 17-18 if they don't have to buy out RJs contract and ship to a team that needs to get to the cap floor.

I guess this is more of a win now since you really don't want to waste another year ofGiroux prime years, especially with a cap hit of 8.3 million.
