the cap situation turned out better than i thought even with conservative salary cap estimations, so good job. the only thing id be worried about would be bringing in 2 rookie goaltenders in the same year</div></div>
Betting heavy on Hart being a poor man's matt murray. Just good enough to get us over the humo. But ugh goalie issues in philly smh

GOING FOR IT (W/O Trading Anyone)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>moli92</b></div><div>thats a pretty scary cap situation you'd be heading towards the next season. maybe sign thornton to a 1 year deal instead of 2 to give you more room to sign provorov, sanheim, simmonds, konecny, hagg, goalies, etc.</div></div>
Have to give him term or else he wont sign. I also made P2 of this for the following year.

Vanek Buyout
also, i rather just try vanek for a year than give any of the potential free agent winger a large and long contract when this team is clearly two years away from actually contending. that is enough time to get rid of most of the bad contracts (streit, read, Schultz,) and hopefully buy out MacDonald in 2018 with two years left on his contract. And we will finally escape cap hell.

Vanek Buyout
I read Vanek is on the list of top ten players mostly likely to be bought out this year. and I am only a couple thousand over the cap when Vinny Retires. And yeah the trade with retaining 50% of the salary would be cheaper or the flyers could just do a Streit for Vanek swap. BTW. those contracts are low because the salary cap is predicted to drop next year due to the weak canadian dollar.

Why would you buy out RJ and take a 1.6 mil cap hit for 2 years over just keeping him with 8.3 million with space?

Jagr and Lucic???????
Lol I forgot about Macdonald in the Defense core. He would be a serviceable 7th D until in time he became RJ and had to be bought out or dealt away. But the cap is still manageable with his crap of a deal without trading him or buying him out.

Jagr and Lucic???????
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div><i>So, the Panthers trade for Read, so the Flyers have enough cap space to sign Jagr. Why send the Flyers back to cap hell with the signing of Lucic at 6.5m?</i></div></div>
They actually arent in that bad of shape in the long term if you look at Long Term Outlook. Streit and Schultz come off the books at 7.5 mill total in 17-18 and they get replaced by Sanhiem and Morin. You resign Gudas and Del Zotto and your defensive man are Provorov, Ghost, Del Zotto, Gudas, Sanhiem and Morin.
With Lucic, the top 6 is solidified. And the bottom 6 can be patched together by low paid veterans and ELC.
The Flyers wouldn't be in that bad of a shape after the 16-17 season. They would have 29 mil available to resign Mason, Ghost, Del Zotto, and maybe Gudas. These are high estimates but lets say 7 mil for mason, 5 Mill for Ghost, 5 Mill for Del Zotto, and 2 Mil For Gudas, with that you still have 10 million left.
Also Konency, Provorov and Sanhiem contracts slide while Simmonds in under his current deal. I think the Flyers need to take advantage of Simmonds contract. It is a ******* steal for a 30 goal scorer. Lucic makes the team deeper in the short term and replaces Simmonds in the long run aka let him walk in the last year, as the flyers would need to resign rookies like Konency, Provorov, and Sanhiem in 19-20 and even then there are more contracts coming off the books in 19-20. They could have another 1.6 Million in 17-18 if they don't have to buy out RJs contract and ship to a team that needs to get to the cap floor.
I guess this is more of a win now since you really don't want to waste another year ofGiroux prime years, especially with a cap hit of 8.3 million.
