Good Riddance
People are on fire right now! I will take that deal in a heartbeat. Either can be our 3c, if Henrique doesn’t come back, or we slot him with Draisaitl.

We got a BLOCKBUSTER
Depending on where this 1st lands could potentially decide it for me. If Philly goes on a losing streak to end the year and finishes like 13th, I think i would do this If I were OTT. And believe me, I love Tkachuk as a player.
IMO Philly would be insane to do it though. Regardless of their season success, they are rebuilding and should keep all young assets for now. Adding Tkuchuk at the cost of JF and TK is not an immediate upgrade.

I understand Zamula is a very good player and I don't want to undervalue him but I don't see the Sens wanting another LD coming back considering even if Chychrun gets moved, they still have Chabot, Sanderson, Brannstrom, and Kleven. I personally would really want Cates and if he wasn't available, the deal would probably have to be centered around a higher pick (Philly's 2024 1st I guess). Or, Sens would love to bring Bonk home. However, I completely understand why Philly shouldn't/won't move him.

Flyers need a body, Seeler, Drysdale both hurt. York came out of 2 games recently (then came back) prob battling something. And Walker got traded for a 1st. Fine deal. Good for Buffalo to get something for someone who was less than good for them.

Value is there in the PHI trade though I doubt the Flyers are interested in RyJo. Not enough for Ned and the Avs should be paying what it will cost for Ned as he's a rental to them.

Who will pay the Biggest Price for Monahan
Lindholm is a top 6 center who has recently received a Selke nomination. Monahan is a 3rd line center who makes his biggest impact on the PP. The difference in value between these things isn't a cap dump, a conditional 4th and a no name prospect.

Yeah the left side is kind of set whenever Sergachev comes back, Lilleberg has stepped up to be 3LD in a big way demoting De Haan to be the 7th, but the right side is definitely the weakest

This is what Avs fans see with all these Monahan nonsense trades

Any player picked after #20 has like a 50% shot at being an NHL player, it's why teams give those picks up to make a run. The math is that the current player your getting is worth more than the player that may never make it</div></div>
Monahan isn’t very good anymore though. Hes playing 18 min a night has 16 even strength points and would not sniff pp1 on our team. RyJo has played 13:50 a night not much pp time at all and has produced 11 even strength points. Ryjo to monahan is as lateral a move that we can get

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>I agree. But this “cutter gauthier” thing I’ve seen multiple times no has no bearing as a comp.
Toffoli is an NHL ready quality top 6 winger who can help a team win a Stanley cup now.
Cutter gauthier is a college player.
If it was “they turned down guentzel for byram” that would make sense as a comp to indicate Byram is not available for a rental winger. But cutter just isn’t the same type of asset
Just like how Chicago wouldn’t buy a rental for one of their guy, but they would take a pick or prospext</div></div>
well i get what you are saying. but it illustrate that they turned down much better offer value wise. if thry wanted they could have flipped gauthier to get much vetter rental players too.
you just dont trade some of your most valuable asset for rentals, GM dont event have to turn down those offers. i havent read that the devils turned down a trade nemec for tarasenko to know its not the right value or that it doesnt make sense to begin with.

An argument supporting Monahans value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Andy_Dick</b></div><div>I have watched the last few Avs games notably in Bsoton where Colorado couldnt even enter the offensive zone in the 3rd without Mackinnon or Makar bulldozing in. Ryjo is cooked! He had top PP opportunities early in the year and was taken off despite the injuries to Lehks and Nuke while Ryjo is exclusively used as a faceoff man which is just one of Monahan's attributes. And, Monahan fixture on the PP isnt a downside, he's been able to keep his spot unlike Ryjo. Colorado is playing their top guys 25-28 mins a night. Drouin ice time has been unreal. Another guy Avs fans said they didnt need last year yet hes given all the ice time.
Monahan's down low game, headiness and quick hands are simply not just better than Ryjo but a different league and the stats bear it out. But again, if you dont want him another contender will which will up the price and add to the return package. I dont even believe a 1st rounder is enough when those late picks have a less than 30% chance of even being an NHL regular. I much rather they extend Monahan to a 3-4 year contract when hes only 29 and still very productive unlike Ryjo.</div></div>
If Colorado ends up paying a first for Monahan, which I absolutely do not think they will, then come find me and give me the old "I told you so." I can take it. But I truly don't think it will happen. 2nd and Olausson, with Montreal also taking RyJo, maybe. But not a first. I think they'll quickly look elsewhere if that's the ask.
RyJo losing PP1 time actually makes the point that the Avs don't need another option for that role. They have plenty.
With respect to Drouin, lots of Avs fans have wanted him for quite some time. Giving up assets for the guy last season (and being on the hook for over 2M AAV) is very different than tossing him 800k as a UFA. I don't think Habs fans are incorporating that differentiating factor in when presenting their argument.

Thread:

Monahan gets a lot of time on the power play, but he isn’t anything special there. He isn’t an engine, he isn’t the driver. He’s the netfront guy and his job is to take advantage of the work others do. It’s a job every team fills pretty easily.
He kills penalties at a below average level. Again most teams already have 5-6 guys at or above that level.
His 5v5 play has been poor, both offensively and defensively.
So if you aren’t gonna help a team on the power play, penalty kill, or 5v5, how are you helping?

Ducks trade for Gauthier
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>phillyjabroni</b></div><div>He declined to attend development camp which probably rubbed the Flyers the wrong way. Apparently didn't talk to them during WJC was the nail in the coffin.</div></div>
Ahh okay yeah this sounds vaguely familiar. Ultimately I think the Flyers did the best they could. Once the guy declines even the idea of meeting and talking with no strings attached, the ship has sailed. And if you dont deal him quickly, eventually someone asks him the question about his future with the org, and hes got no incentive to stay quiet. Then you lose your leverage.
Credit to Briere making the best of it, although Drysdale is a huge gamble. Just doesn't seem like a torts guy either but maybe he's exactly what JD needs right now.

(ANA/PHI) - Drysdale, 2025 2nd (ANA) for Gauthier
Apparently he didn't want to play for the Flyers and ghosted Flyers staff at the world juniors. I would be LIVID if I was the Flyers, even if this trade works out they essentially threw away a top 5 pick. At the same time, you have to ask: did they not ask him about this before they drafted him? Shouldn't this be the first question you ask him

Matthew was fresh off a 100 point season and was a RFA so Florida knew they could sign him for 8 years. Brady has never had more than 83 points in a season and is signed for half the 8 years of Matthew. Not to mention that Brady is only on pace for 66 points this season.
Brady doesn’t get close to what Matthew got. Sorry Sens fans.
