What I believe we will see Happen, Sunday.
Hags is a good as gone once the season over unless he is willing to take a pay cut and its most likely the Pens are going to try and keep either Sheahen or Bassard not both.
Both ZAR and Guentzel are coming off their intial entry level deals and no matter what the Pens have full control of the rights to both of them for 4 more years. So they will have to take whatever the Pens will give them.

Worst Case Pens
Seem like a good worst case if the deal for Skinner falls thru, but there's no way the Pens will give a Johnson a 5 yr term. 3 year max, maybe if they think he can rebound from his performance from last season

Also sounds like the plan is to make a run at a trade for Jeff Skinner while trying to get FA Jack Johnson and/or Chris Kunitz.

If the Sabres make the playoffs or gets above a certain # of points the pick get upgraded to 3rd. News begin reports by the 93.7 the Fan on Pittsburgh.

the worst trade idea I have read this week. No way the Pens would give up Letang

Post Rust Signing
Overall I like the trades , but not the FA signing. If anything the Pens will sign Kunitz for the 4th line w/ Sheahan and Sprong or ZAR. If Rutherford does pull the trigger on Skinner trade it makes sense to do it now and have him for a full season rather than at trade deadline.

Post Rust Signing
no, they overpaid Sheary. The deal for Rust is more than fair considering his potential and two way play ability.

Hjalmarsson might look pretty... pretty.... pretty good
Good old fashion hockey trade, but I don't think the Coyotes would take Sprong. Coach Tocchet was not a fan.

The Threepeat
Rutherford gave up Cole because he knew they have no chance of keeping him long term. Why on earth would trade for him after getting a major return like Brassard?

2 more trades
The Sabres are only going to let Kane go if its a first round pick in this years draft and the Pens already gave that up for Brassard. If the Pens are going for Kane then it would have to be Sheary and Sprong w/the First Round pick for next years just to get the Sabres to believe that their serious about a deal.

no way the pens are trading any of the following d-men Matta, Letang, Dumoulin and Schultz for anything if they want to 3 peat.

Better or Worse Team?
second of all how is any of that going to make the pens better? all we did was trade a temperamental winger with nothing to play for an equally temperamental center who is not going to want to play 3rd line.

like the idea, but Vancouver is definitely going to want another prospect in addition Pouliot

I love everything bout this write up except the Haula trade. Its unnecessary and there is no way the pens give up Matta.

Why would the pens give up proven top 6 forward in rust and emerging top line defense men in matta for 2 guy who aren't going to be any improvement.

That entirely too much for Eakin and more than that Vegas's Gm is only interested in Pick or prospects for players on their roster. No way they any interest in Hagelin. Also, why would the pens even what Jokenin back when they already have surplus of young wingers that can play either top or bottom six position.
Other then that like everything else especially the Pirri signing. It will work if RR would just go do it.

This is an actual possibility from what I have come to understand. Except your going to have to add either/and Pouliot and Ruhwedel to make it work.

although, it is an interesting concept and some "experts" might agree. Why in the world would anyone think trading a franchise defense men for a guy who at this point is probably better off playing wing over center; especially third line, is a good idea?

Sorry, not going to happen Colorado wants defense not more forwards and that is way too much for a guy that's definitely not going to like paying 3rd line in the Pens system.

Pittsburgh Penguins 2017-2018 (Realistic)
I would also prefer Bozak or Chicago's Marcus Kruger over Karlsson Melker, but it's probably the most obvious trade.
Also, If Sheary thinks he's going to get more than 2.5 mil per year from the Pens since the emergence of Guentzel.
Then he's just end up the center piece of a better trade later this summer and they'll bring him back in a few season after he gets bought out.
