Dorion continues to surprise
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>Let me know where the cap space comes next year. This move is the most short sighted move I’ve ever seen</div></div>
Trade zaitsev and you'd have 30M to sign Stutz and debrincat+the rest. Very doable.

lol they wouldn't give up any goals between that incredible defense u mentioned, those incredible defensive forwards and even if something gets past that, u have vasy to backstop ur team

Get some defensive players
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DDossett</b></div><div>...do you need 8mil wingers for mcdavid? Your trading your entire farm for a goalie on a bad year and your adding just chariot to improve the d? All pretty bad.
Buffalo has no interest in your trade.</div></div>
look at mackinaw. HE Has landeskog and rantanen. Only diff is that mackinon took a pay cut and will take another one, unlike mcdavid. Forsberg is arguably better than landeskog and whether it is a Forsberg, Palat, lehkonen etc. mcdcvid needs a winger like that since he literally plays 0 defense. So yes, necessary if oilers wanna win.

what couldve been
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>Not at all. Look at the cap hit with a 20 man roster for starters. Factor in it alters every draft and free agency after that. Maybe they don’t end up with Mac.
Then the individuals.
Connor surely would have been better choice than Debrusk but we lose Hall who wants to be here, fits in well, has good chemistry with line. We have no idea how Conner would have fit in or developed with a different t team. Rather just keep Hall.
Chabot. Would not have had the path to PT in the NHL in Boston he did in OTT. He would have been buried or used as trade chip. He was all offense no defense coming out of JRs. Boston had 2 of them already in the lineup and and aging Chara they needed a replacement for. Another no defense guy made no sense.
Had Chabot stuck around and was still on the team they don’t trade for Hampus. I’d much rather Hampus. Chabot will score more and is flashier. Hampus however is just better all around.
The one pick that should not have been made was Senyshyn. They tried to trade down with that pick. Would have been nice. But they were never taking a center there so Barazal, who was never much of a scorer in jrs and coming off an injury, was never an option. Boesser or Koneckny should have been though.
And if I was switching out picks I’d rather Aho then Barzal anyway.
In the end we have no idea what the team would look like or where they would be had they made those picks instead.
I know where the team is now and outside of long term center issues, I like it.
Unlike others I don’t cry over a draft from 7 years ago or signing and trades from the past. It’s done . Coulda woulda shoulda. I don’t care. 🤷🏻♂️ I</div></div>

Arizona continues to stockpile assets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I don't see why you believe that Kassian "is on a much worse contract" that Dadonov or Zucker. A $3.2 million cap hit is a lot easier to absorb than a 5 or 5.5 million dollar smack, and Kassian's actual cost of $5.8 million over two years is not much more than Zucker's total compensation of $5.2 million and less than Dadonov's $6.5 million (!) by a similar amount.
Teams generally don't trade for a player and then give up on him after only one year, because that's usually an insufficient time for the new guy to become accustomed to his new surroundings. Guys that fit right in like Phillip Danault or Viktor Arvidsson are the exception, not the rule.</div></div>
Firstly, Vegas already tried trading dadonov, they need the cap. Pitsburg also needs the cap. The money doesn't matter to Arizona, they can take on a 9 mill contract, what's more important is what it does for the other team. in Edmontons case, they could really use the 3.2 mill locked up in kassian or 6 mill including foegle to for example, sign flip Forsberg who would complement mcdavid. So its more what Edmonton would be willing to trade

keller and Chychrun are stars. Schmaltz is a very good second line center or a meh first line center. They also have young centres Mcbain and Hayton who are promising, Lawson Crouse with 20 goals already this year and propects in the pipeline. They also have many picks in the near future

look at dadonovs recent play, he's showing he can play, Vegas just doesn't have the cap for him. Zucker on the other hand has been horrible in Pittsburg, not to mention his injuries

difference is kassian is locked up for an extra year and is on a much worse contract. Plus they would want to get rid of foegle as well

very solid squad ans its 2022 so obviously a lot could change like good young players coming in or maybe Tukka isn't on the team yet, this is just to give a rough idea based off the current situation
