Strange lines and pairings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ItWasIn</b></div><div>I’ll be honest I haven’t seen Czarnik play.. ever. But his stats are comparable to Marchessault’s AHL numbers, there might be somehing there. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a chance on the top line at some point. Also 20+ teams were interested in him, so once again there might be something there</div></div>
Yeah I don't know of him too much either. But looking at his stats, he should be given a chance on that top line. Putting Neal or Lindholm there would make that top line super lethal but at the expense of the actual team.... I would rather spread out the talent so that every line has a good chance to score.

If Tampa Gets Tavares
I really like this team and the trades do not seem that unreasonable if Tampa gets Tavares. Looking at the numbers I think he will sign there.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vinnylou</b></div><div>How much you think tkachuk will ask for? You'll have to move stone</div></div>
I hope Tkachuk will sign a 7 year extension of $6.75 mil AAV deal after July 1st. Flames can move Stone and/or Frolik next season and if Smith is still decent will come in at a bit of a discount. Again, I do not in any way think that Tavares will sign in Calgary, this is a pipe dream. On paper this could be a cup contender though. More likely we go after James Neal, JVR or David Perron. They are great players but past their prime and worried about a Lucic type deal that screws you in 2-3 years.

Really? A #1 RH defenceman that led the league in goal scoring last year, probable Norris candidate in his prime for an ok 2nd line forward and an unknown prospect which could be a flop. I think if the Flames did this I would not be too happy until I saw how Svechnikov panned out.

Trust the process
Its not a bad team but your UFA's will probably get more if they go to a team that is struggling. Top 6 looks great but the bottom 6 I have no idea. Buffalo really needs to find the goalie of the future and Hutton is not that. On the Rask deal, drop the 4th round picks and change the 3rd to a 2nd and it may happen. But I still feel they will want a a scoring winger back vs Bogosian. Although a team may be willing to do a Bogosian for a winger so it might work. 4 stars however.

Moves
So this is click baiting. You said moves and there is only 1...... Looking at the trade and Bennett and a 4th may get you Hayes. So then Stone gets you a 1st round pick??.... I think not. Or is Bennett for Hayes and a 1st and that I would entertain but Rangers will not. Then it's Stone for a 4th which is bad. I would rather keep Bennett than trade him for that as he may still break out given the right opportunity. I would do a straight up Hayes for Bennett and probably still kick myself.

Stop living in the past, its done and you can't do anything about it now. All teams make bad trades and signings that seem great at the time but just move on. Although, Chia has made more than ever and had the window open this year and went backwards. Edmonton has 5 cups and the best player in the world, you guys will be just fine.

Kessel to CGY
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>camshaft1389</b></div><div>My guess it Kessel+Sheary+Jarry for Bennet+ Stone+ Parssons+ 1st would be sufficient for sure.
Pens get a 3rd D on right side, potential Sheary replacement on the cheap side. And a goalie prospect with Jarry potential but 3 years young
Call get two scoring wingers and Jarry would be ready eariler if he is going to be a starter than Parssons.
Calgary may do another prospect if they can lower/remove the pick as they really need some picks if they want long term success</div></div>
I like your proposal but would change the 1st to rights to Adam Fox as I think he is more valuable than a first to the Penguins and a 1st is more valuable to the Flames.

Price
Yeah no way the Flames want Price and his massive cap hit on the Flames. I would rather take a run at Grubauer, Hutton or Bernier and keep Smith. Smith may be getting older but still may have a few years left in him as he is a fitness nut and we just need a really good backup and hopefully one of our prospects can step in and take over. The Price is wrong b1tch!!! LOL

Realdeal
Huge overpay on Czarnik and Jankowski plus would would still like 1 more top 9 RW that is proven. No way you give a player an 8 year deal after one ok season as he is still an unknown, could be great or disastrous in the future. Imagine if we did that with Bennett? Teammates and fans would have lost their poop. Shore will have to be qualified for more than that to retain him and I would do it even if he is a spare, he played really well as a 4th line centre. I don't think that Washington will go for that with Grubauer either even with the cap dump. They will still want a decent asset coming back as Islanders will be pushing hard with the 11th or 12th overall pick to swing something for him. Stone is not worth that much and Brodie is ok at that price but would rather get a top line scoring RW back in return for him.

Boring but more likely
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cberg</b></div><div>If you added a 2018 2nd on Washington's side (2nd versus 3rd because they are the 31st pick each round) then you'd have something worth talking about. Since Washington is looking to dump Grubaer because they have Samsonov waiting in the wings, and due to Fox's massive potential I think it would be a coup for Washington, but also beneficial to the Flames. Since the Flames have multiple near-ready D lined up in addition to Fox it could work.</div></div>
I think there are going to be quite a few teams inquiring about Grubauer. Especially NY Islanders. They need to get rid of him yes, but will not be giving him away. I think Stone could be traded for a 2nd as I think he is a top 4 D and not sure why we signed him when we got Hamonic....

So you are saying Fox and a 2nd would work? I think Fox would sign with an eastern team as long as there is a spot.

Great backup goalies are worth a 2nd and 3rd pick at most so I don't see that happening. They are still backups and have to prove themselves. Look at Darling from Chicago. Great numbers as a backup and failed as a starter.

What i would try
I don't want Hoffman on the Flames and they will be selling low on him as it sounds pretty bad. For O'Reilly it will take a lot to get him so that is not too far off. Would love to have him but I think he will cost too many assets and has a big cap hit. I love Neal but he is 30 and in decline. Look at the Oilers with Lucic, I don't want to get stuck with something similar.

My bad on the Czarnik trade as I did not even look and just assumed he was an RFA. Fixed now. For ROR it is a huge overpay but I feel he is the perfect fit and there will be teams willing to pay a lot for a top 5 two way center who can win faceoffs.

NEW 5 Trades plus UFA's (only 4 now) - Dream team for next season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MarKadMar</b></div><div>I would say drop the Kessel trade and the Oreilly trade. I would hate to see Calgary give up that much for a second line centre when they already have Backlund and Jankowski as a great 3rd line centre. The Kessel trade is fine but a) I don't know if CGY is sending enough value, and b) I don't know if it's even necessary. Phil is great but also defense is such a strength for the flames, and Gio is getting older so Brodie is someone I'd want to keep around. If you're signing Neal I don't think another RW is necessary</div></div>
This is just for fun and what I might try and do as the GM. I feel Kessel with Gaudreau and Monahan would be dynamite as they turned Ferland into a 20 goal scorer. I think Kessel would work wonders with those 2. For O'Reilly, he is a proven Selke centre that has an amazing Corsi, puts up points without getting favorable starts and would be stellar to have 3 great proven centers moving forward. Even one of those would push us into a playoff position for next year. Both should push us into a serious contender.

NEW 5 Trades plus UFA's (only 4 now) - Dream team for next season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Ultimate_Pielord</b></div><div>Love the aggression. Doesn't exactly build a perennial contender, but it's an awesome win-now lineup. I'm not sure if the Pens would take that deal for Kessel (IMO they shouldn't, but I tend to value Kessel more than most.) Keeps the core together, gets under the cap. Only issues I have are:
1) Giordano should be on PK1, he's one of the best defensive defensemen in the game.
2) You should be going 4F 1D for your PP, it's almost always more effective.
These are minor usage concerns, just to make it a bit more optimal.
The lineup's also going to have some issues next year as contracts start expiring, but oh man is this a great, fun lineup. I approve.</div></div>
Thanks for the input! Yeah I am sick of being a fringe team. Lets go all in for once. For the PP I just don't see Bennett or Frolik as good options going 4F 1D. For the PK1 line its not a huge concern as the forwards are all stars and you still have to kill off all 2 minutes... But yes they will throw their best out first so that probably should change that. For the future, Smith would go and Grubauer would take over as #1 and hopefully do well with Gillis hopefully ready. This will help to pay for Thachuks massive contract. If we need more then we can look at trading Frolik.

I forgot to add the rights to Adam Fox in there..... So it woud essentially be Brodie, Dube and 2 firsts for Karlsson then Bennett, Hamonic and the rights to Fox for Stone. Still a pipe dream and probably not enough I know....
