Hi Forsberg Bye Miller
Not sure on the Detroit trade. Like to see Zadina with a new coach and center before a trade. It would look better if you removed the 23 4th.

Probably 8OA + either Vrana or Bertuzzi and that’s a maybe. Devils need a wow factor in a trade

Fabbri should be on LTIR, and Smith/Erne should not get roster spots over Veleno/Sundqvist/Zadina. Soderblom is unlikely to head straight to the NHL also.
That said, it's nice to see an ACGM that's holistic, with fairly realistic FA contracts, without any trades.

What is the best site for comparing players advanced stats.
I'd say the "Big Four" of public analytics sites are:
HockeyViz.com
Evolving-Hockey.com
MoneyPuck.com
NaturalStatTrick.com
HV and EH have paywalls for their more advanced work, but it's well-worth the money in my opinion.
There's also JFresh/TopDown who have some great work out there as well, but they don't have a website, just access through JFresh's Patreon. You can also see the raw data on Patrick Bacon's tableau.
AllThreeZones.com is Corey Sznajder's manual tracking project and is also really cool too, though it also requires a subscription.

I would be very surprised if Yzerman brings in Schmidt, who will be going into his age 31 season and has a cap hit of nearly $6 million for three more years. Left D is an issue, at least short term, but they've invested so much draft capital on that position I don't think they acquire anyone a on a deal longer than two years unless it's a guy like Pettersson who is younger and has a more movable contract when the prospects are ready. Edvinsson, in all likelihood, will be on the roster next year. Johansson has a chance to make the club sooner rather than later, and they have a good number of other LHD draftees that they think highly of in Wallinder, Buium, Viro, Sebrango, and McIsaac.

I agree it is time to move Zadina and see what we can get for him.</div></div>
Still to early to give up on him, if he doesn't show improvement next year then sure move on. Or else he just becomes a bottom 6 guy with some upside.

My opinion is that assets need to be applied toward 2C and Defense before adding another wing. Although I like idea of Fiala on the roster, think need address other areas first.

I would be OK with it. The hope is that any pick in that range lands a guy that develops into a player like Chychrun. The process is just sped up a bit. With that written I don't think that this offer lands him.

Chychrun will be in for a big contract at a less than stellar time in comparison to others and would also put us in a tough spot salary cap wise (Larkin, Bertuzzi, Raymond and Seider) will all have new contacts when it would come time to extend Chychrun as well. Just long term thinking is all...</div></div>
(please note: This isn't meant to come off like a wanker...sometimes it's hard to tell on here :tearsofjoy)
I like long term thinking, but I don't like the idea of saying "Naw, I don't want to improve the team because we *may* end up with issues in 2025/26.
I can see it if you're thinking "We're still a year or two away from the step forward where it'll make sense to go hunting for a contract/player like that", or something along those lines, but if you've got eyes on the playoffs, I'd absolutely pull the trigger, and say "thanks for not demanding Edvinsson!". All that being said, I think you guys are going to take another step forward next year, but that division is still super top heavy which is going to make sneaking in extremely difficult.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aasen6</b></div><div>Lol what? Even without rathbone in that trade it’s a huge steal for Detroit and they’d take it in a heartbeat. With Boeser having a down year that’s maybe half his value</div></div>
1. Rathbone is useless to us. We have Edvinsson, Johansson, Viro, Sebrango, Wallinder, McIsaac all as very good to excellent prospects on LD. We have no use for a #7.
2. This deal would be Zadina + 2nd + 3rd for Boeser. Boeser costs $7.5 million to even qualify. There's no guarantee whatsoever that he'll even sign with Detroit, even if he does sign he'd be the highest paid player on the team by more than a million.
3. Boeser scores 1.03 points per 60 minutes of icetime 5-on-5, that would make him number 20 in scoring in Detroit. Boeser scores 0.59 PPG and Detroit have three wingers that beat that easily with 0.83, 0.80, and 0.79. Boeser barely beats Fabbri and he's paid half of what Boeser would cost.
Detroit does not need wingers. We need centres and veteran LD. We're not going to pay assets for players that we don't need and have no use for.

Thread:
Stevie hits the gravity bong
Trading for Provorov is not a good idea for Detroit for the following reasons:
1. Provorov is a giveaway machine. He has 72 giveaways this season (2.71 per 60 minutes of icetime). The worst of the defenders we have on the team is Hronek with 40 (1.75/60).
2. Provorov is useless when it comes to stealing the puck from an opponent. He has only 16 takeaways this season (0.60/60). The only current defender in Detroit worse than that is Hronek with 13 takeaways (0.56/60), Seider has 36 (1.41/60).
3. Provorov has three years still on his contract with a rising salary, his salary in his last year is $ 8,625,000. That means that if we should want to resign him he would start his ask at that salary. If we should want to trade him the receiving team would either be prepared to pay that much for an extension or he can only be traded as a 3 month rental to a contender with the resulting drop in return for us. Provorov will never give Detroit back anywhere near what you're paying for him here.
4. Provorov's contract is immune to buyouts. His salary structure with signing bonuses makes a buyout cost just as much as not doing one.
5. There is no need for Detroit to splash these resources at this time in our rebuild. We have an abundance of good to superb prospects on LD already in our system with: Edvinsson, Johansson, Viro, Wallinder, Sebrango, McIsaac. Two of those are close to being ready to make the team and will do so in the 2023-2024 season at the latest.
6. What Detroit needs on LD is one or two (depending on how good Walman and Juolevi look the rest of this season) solid defenders on contracts that make them tradeable when our kids surpass them in their development. Such defenders can be had this offseason for a tiny fraction of what you're paying for Provorov here. There is Pettersson or Matheson in Pittsburgh who is in cap trouble and have younger defenders needing roster spots. The expected cost for acquiring Pettersson is one 3rd round pick. There is Schmidt in Winnipeg that is in the same situation as PIT. His expected cost is also one 3rd round pick. There's Scandella in St. Louis who will net us picks if we take him off their hands.
7. What you're giving up for Provorov in this trade is the best winger this team has had in over ten years. He is having his best year in his career and is scoring at an 80-point pace. Bertuzzi has publicly expressed a desire to stay on this team. There is no plan in your ACGM for how to replace his production.
This is a very bad trade for Detroit and should IMHO not even be considered.

Larkin and Bertuzzi Extensions
I'm figuring about a 2 million rise for both of them so this looks very reasonable.
BTW. Wait a year with bringing Wallinder over. He's not ready for it and there won't be any room for him in Grand Rapids anyway. Do sign Niederbach though. With Söderblom also coming over you'll get synergy effects and there's plenty of room for centres in GR.

(NYI/DET) - Leddy for Pánik & 2021 2nd round pick
Any chance Leddy is traded immediately after the expansion draft? Essentially another team buying a protected slot from Detroit? If Stevie flips Leddy for a 1st next week, he’s playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers.
Or maybe there’s a handshake agreement with Lou to send Leddy back to NYI at the deadline in exchange for a 2022 2nd?
Or maybe since Leddy would’ve led DET defenseman in scoring last season, he fills a need on LD while providing PP usefulness and a solid veteran pairing for Seider, before recouping that 2nd at next deadline.
Also, the 2nd that followed Panik from Washington for DET to take him basically follows him to NYI.
Or you could look at it as NYR paid DET a 2nd for a useful year of Marc Staal which they then flipped for a useful year of Nick Leddy.
NYI gets cap space and expansion draft relief while Detroit gets a player more useful to them than a bottom six/replacement level forward and a player it likely feels can be traded at next deadline to recoup the draft assets.
It’s a WIN/WIN for both teams.
Quit pretending Yzerman got fleeced.
