NHL Team Futures Ranked - Detroit Red Wings
Not sure I'd call Gustav Lindstrom a notable player lol.
Also, not sure how extensive the notable prospect section is supposed to be but I'd look out for Carter Mazur as well. He's had two great seasons at Denver and could make the team as soon as next season.

Honestly, I'd consider it if we could replace Kasper or Edvinsson with one of our 2024 1sts instead

Keep Core and Add Larkin and Goalie
Larkin’s not moving anywhere. You’d be better off moving those assets for a different player who’s not there teams captain + only good centre.

Don't see why Detroit would take on Matheson's contract even if he was a bit better last season. Especially not when we're adding a useful goalie on top of that.

That’s a solid Bertuzzi trade imo. It probably just comes down to how Yzerman feels about Bertuzzi’s long term future in Detroit.

Why would a rebuilding team trade one of their top players under team control and two draft picks for two guys a year away from free agency?

I don't even think that's enough for Bertuzzi to sign the contract let alone for Detroit not to match. We could probably trade him for a 1st+.

A deal with Detroit
The 1st round pick is a nice starting point. I think Detroit would be looking for a different secondary piece as Kerfoot wouldn’t be that enticing to a rebuilding team (although he could be thrown in for cap purposes) and swapping mid round picks for a former mid- round pick is a scrap.

I definitely wouldn't go higher than 6 mil on Vrana. I'd honestly consider trading Bertuzzi in the next year or so but I don't think that's the right package.

Trading down
Detroit declines. There isn't a big enough gap in talent between 1 and 6 to justify giving up pick 22/23, a former 1st rounder (Veleno), and a solid bottom 6 player (Erne).

Detroit would be willing to accept cap dumps but that isn't nearly enough to dump Neal and get Rasmussen back.

Big D Smaller Forewords
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GarthBrooks</b></div><div>What's his value?</div></div>
I'd say roughly a late 2nd/early 3rd (taking into account he's not on the trade block so it would take a bit of incentive for Yzerman to actually pull the trigger on a trade).
It depends on if you're expecting to get 2021 Adam Erne (20 points in 45 games) or 2019-20 Adam Erne (5 points in 56 games).

I'm not super familiar with the prospects you're sending back to Detroit (so I'm not really sure about the value) but I'd definitely consider selling high on Erne.

Detroit declines. Doesn't make sense for us to trade away a significant asset (Bertuzzi), to acquire Morgan Rielly. Rielly is a rental defenseman, who would likely have no interest in resigning with Detroit.
If Detroit were to trade Bertuzzi right now, they'd probably want a 1st round pick coming back.

Would you take a 3rd for Patrick? I know he could still have some upside but his poor play combined with an injury history is a bit concerning.

Trade Up for Power
That's not gonna cut it. Moving from the top 5 to a late 1st is a significant drop off in talent, especially for a rebuilding team that needs to stock up on top talent. None of the pieces going back would make it worth it.

Not sure how realistic this is but I'd love to see Werenski in Detroit. If Seider can reach his potential, that would be a top pairing in the league foreseeable future.

More Blashill
Some Wings fans will hate it but I don't mind Blashill. You can't possibly look at the rosters they've had since 2016-17 (the first year they missed the playoffs), and think they had the talent to make the playoffs. This year's team was also significantly better than last year which is important. A lot of people criticize him for the extremely defensive style the Red Wings played this year, but this team did not have the scoring to go goal-for-goal with hardly any other team. He was coaching the style that would result in the most wins for the team. Another important thing about him is that the players still seem to be playing for him despite the results. Every time the Wings got blown out this year, they followed it up with a win, or at least a much better performance.
Also, Bylsma is not being brought back and he was our assistant coach that ran the PP (which was at 11% this year).

Not sure if you misunderstood what I said but I was saying that Detroit would not be interested in JVR because of his age and the fact that they're rebuilding. They'd want assets that line up with their future cup window - like draft picks and prospects. Never said that Bertuzzi is worth JVR + a 1st. I said that he's worth a 1st and a minor asset. And if you're that concerned with his 'severe injuries', you could just not trade for him and Detroit would be perfectly fine with keeping him.
