He literally brings nothing to the table because he cant do anything but negatively impact the team on the ice.
You dont trade for a guy to be a motivational speaker from the press box

You do not want Chara. Trust me on this one. Lou ruined the Islanders with the Toews and Leddy trades. He then brought in two washed up turnstiles to replace them.

Holy **** A guy with sense where we need more like this in our nation lul.
Like honestly for the people bashing Campbell
He was fine tonight. GOT 0 HELP IN FRONT OF HIS NET
Dubas was right we need another defenseman. One who knows how to play the puck, guard the net, and play 20+ mins a night. Someone who can allow for Brodie to go back to playing with Rielly who has been with Sandin and Liligren and those 2 pairings have been awful.

Were gonna need a guy with term, speed, size, defensive knowledge, etc. Basically someone who fits our playstyle
He unfortunately does not. Only thing he would be beneficial for is net front coverage but everything else would drive us mad.

I have some off-season moves in mind. But I’d make them whether we win or lose.
That doesn’t matter much right now though.
I think our forwards are good enough to figure their sh-t out. I’d take a peak at Comtois (who’s on the block), and maybe Jarnkrok (you’ll understand in a sec), but otherwise that’s not where we NEED to improve.
Defence. Oh boy. It’s not even that it’s bad, but it allows too many guys out front. How many goals tonight were tipped or on the door step? All of them I think. We have to do something there. A guy who’s main focus is playing defence.
Of the guys on the market, the most intriguing, to me, is Mark Giordano. On a terrible Seattle team, he’s still just so solid. He’s also at a point where he could be re-signed for fairly cheap, in his hometown (Toronto) where he has a long-time teammate in TJ Brodie.
Giordano + Jarnkrok would be nice.
Giordano + McCann would be really nice. That’s more of a pipe dream though.
Back to tonight… I don’t blame Jack entirely. The defence has got to be better.
I will say this however, at some point you just need a save.
Next game, I’d go to this:
Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Tavares - Nylander
Mikheyev - Kampf - Kerfoot
Engvall - Spezza - Simmonds
Rielly - Holl
Brodie - Lyubushkin
Dermott - Liljegren
Mrazek
Campbell
this is under the assumption that Kase is not back (he was moved to IR earlier) and Sandin is still out.
If Sandin is back I’d do this for a game:
Brodie - Lyubushkin
Rielly - Holl
Sandin - Liljegren
Mark Giordano would help this so much lol

Makes sense as you need pieces to build around. Why trade all your useful talent away. You need guys to build around and guys like Crouse are some examples

If we do not succeed
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>revaze15</b></div><div>First off, we basically traded a 4th and gained a 3rd so idk how we lost picks. Secondly, at the end of next season we will need to resign Campbell, Sandin and Rielly. We will not have the cap to resign all 3 so we might as well trade Rielly while we can get something for him.</div></div>
im willing to bet one way or another we will resign Rielly the GM is actually pretty decent at his job and why would you trade the D for another F not what toronto would need if we have to lose Reilly

I will also agree that resigning Rielly will not be possible if Sandin continues to progress and Campbell does not fall off a cliff. Because signing all three plus adding on Hyman's contract will make things extremely tight against the cap, especially since it is been reported to only go up by 1 mil in the next two years.
But trading Rielly for picks to only flip for Domi is not the answer. At least wait another year till he is a FA then go after him. He has had two terrible years, no way he is worth the picks right now. Needs to show he is back to his old game first.
If/when the Leafs trade Morgan it should be for an player that is still on his ELC that can help right away, a B prospect, and a pick. Or a straight up 1 for 1 deal. IMO

Lines Saturday vs Montreal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfaninvancity</b></div><div>You are right, you're absolutely right, 14 games played. 1 point, +1... for an offensive dman. He'll be lucky to break 8 points by the end of the year. I'm clearly missing something magical in this guy.</div></div>
He isn't an offensive dman. Never really has been. He's a two way defenceman who is good at moving the puck out of da get and limiting shots against. I'd say he might be better explained as a defensive defenceman. Lehtonen is offensive and the coach himself has said is not good positionally in his own zone. I'd wager Keefe's opinion is a tad more accurate than yours.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfaninvancity</b></div><div>'
I'd wager Keefe's opinion over mine and yours as well. He's putting a team together that he thinks has the best chance to win with what he has. He's not a two way dman, defensive dman? You're clearly an over the edge Leafs fan. Why is he earning about the same amount on his entry level deal? Not even Holl type of money. I think Dubas' opinion is more accurate than yours.</div></div>
Okay so Keefe has used Dermott more because he's done exactly what he's been asked to do. Earning the 3LD spot. Keefe hasn't used Lehtonen because he says he isn't good enough in his own end. Dermott has been good defensively despite having Bogosian as his partner who is the weakest defenceman on the team. He's never been billed as an offensive dman, he's supposed to be a good two way guy. As for his contract, he had to go low to remain on the team due to cap constraints. Dubas did a good job getting him for cheap on a 1 year show me deal. So far he's been good. Not flashy so I get why you have no clue how good he's been but solid. He doesn't need a bunch of points, he needs to get back and retrieve pucks and get it back going the other way. He does that well, either by passing it up or skating it out of danger. Which he does well. Watch him make entering the zone very hard for the opposition, it's a boring play that many don't notice but it's very important. It's not all about points when defending. It is in fact all about not allowing points. Which Dermott is good at.

You are going to be awfully quiet very soon. And I am going to love it, unfortunately the Habs won't get to play against Hutchinson twice this year.
