<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>habitantlecolon</b></div><div>what would you ask for Kakko?</div></div>
Im not sure Id trade him yet, but I would very much love to have Xhekaj on this team. The thing is the Rangers are in contention right now and Im not sure the Canadiens have something that would help the Rangers right now that they would be willing to give up. Ive personally accepted him for what he is here. Defensive forwards like him are necessary for the playoffs. I think what complicates things is hes a free agent this year with a qualifying offer of 2.6m which Im not quite sure hes earned yet.
What he lacks in offensive scoring, he makes up for on the defensive end. The problem some Rangers fans have is they cant get over the fact that hes a 2nd overall pick and hasnt lived up to the expectations they set for him. However, despite that they still want 'top value' for him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>That's all well and good, I never said the Sabres would make the deal (besides the fact that this is a Sabres fans ACGM) all I said was that the value between the two players is similar making any deal a 1 for 1 and the Habs would not be adding anthing but either would the Sabres. This isn't my ACGM and I never said the Sabres should do it (personally I think the Sabres need a guy more like Kovacevic than Barron but the OP traded for Barron and as such my comment reflected that)</div></div>
Kovacevic is someone I wouldn't mind, think he fits a lot of what the Sabres need. I would take him or Cody Ceci, think both there styles fit the Sabres needs. But that is usually shot down by most Sabres fans.

Your reaction is fair. Just want to try to give some explanation for OldNYI where he probably could’ve been more measured in his response, which is that there are an insane number of Harris for Z proposals. And a very quick bit of research into ANA (or review of feedback on any of those proposals) will highlight a very real logjam at LD with Fowler, Mintyukov, Zellweger, Lacombe, Vaakanainen, Hinds, Dionicio.
He should’ve had a more patient reply for sure, but we aren’t perfect. All the best to you

I do all the time. I was wrong about the Toffoli and Zadorov trades, and have admitted I overrated my teams player both times. I was wrong about the Lindholm trade in I thought we would get less

I got it wrong, I didn't think he would get a first. I was still closer than all the Habs fans like Burkie up there who were trading Monahan for 1sts + top prospects.

Certainly up there, but not 2nd best.

That doesn't account for the entire market, but it does cover the "available" aspect.</div></div>
He didn't say rental centers, he said forwards. The highest PPG forward among seemingly available UFAs (if we want to insist only UFAs can be available) is Tarasenko. But points aren't everything anyway.
But hey, I'm fine with the overpay because Winnipeg did it. I hope all our rivals mortgage their futures.

I had Monahan traded to Winnipeg for Montreal's 2nd round pick.
Habs win the trade.
And RIP to anybody that trashed Monahan or doubted he would ever be a Winnipeg Jet in AGM.

And thus Kent Hughes completes what might be an unprecedented two-step of transactions, getting paid a 1st to take a player and then reselling that player for another 1st. Shoutout to Brad Treliving, we couldn’t have done it without you.
Anyway, fair deal. Monahan should be a good addition to the Jets roster, and people who are complaining about his EV points will likely be surprised by his output with better wingers.
