maybe the best we can do
We can get Shore for way less, and we need a backup goalie here, but other than those two thing this would be pretty nice. Although I wouldn't want to retain salary on Gaborik, it might be something we have to do. Maybe we can just hang onto him and hope that he retires after this next year.

Agreed. Value may be there, but it doesn't fit the capitals' needs.</div></div>

I might not know that much about their values because I'm from the West Coast, but I don't think you would get Schenn and a 4th for Ennis, let alone even 1 for 1 you probably wouldn't get Schenn for Ennis.

Doughty Situation 2 years from now
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>clark</b></div><div>Why does matter what Doughty wants in two years. The Kings are competing against other teams offers. There may/may not be offers for Doughty for that much. We don't know. But the logic, of "what a player wants" is dumbfounding.
One reason I believe Lombardi was fired was he read the market for Kopitar so poorly. Who else was offering close 10m for 8 years..</div></div>
Saying "I assume Doughty is going to want ______" means I think this will be close to what he will get offered, and hopefully the Kings can sign him... And the Kings also have 2 years to figure out an extension with him so before they compete with the rest of the league they at least have a chance to extend his contract... why does it matter if there are/aren't offers for that much? Why does it matter if I say what I think he will get?

Yea I think they will trade one or the other but I didn't want to make any trades because this is 2 years into the future and who knows what will happen by then

Doughty to Toronto - Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I can't imagine why any one really thinks this is good day for the Leafs. Doughty is is UFA in the meantime Marner, Kapanen and Nielsen are gone. And what Doughty make really make much difference to the Leafs fortunes.
The Kings have finished out of the playoffs with Doughty, Sure they have won the Cup with Doughty twice, but one of those years the Kings finished eighth so it's not like the Kings have been powerhouses with Doughty.
Can't the Leafs just wait two years and make pitch for Doughty if they want, this way they keep Marner, Kapapen and Nielsen and the two picks.
I know this trade gets a lot of action because of its the Leafs. But would Winnipeg trade Ehlers, Laine and first for two yeasr of Doughty. Or the Sabres trading Reinhart, Risto and a first for two years of Risto, or the Canes trading Aho, Slavin and a first for two years of Doughty. I'm sure the answer would be the same,,,,no way.</div></div>
You are basically comparing Ehlers' value with Marner's (fair) but what I don't get is saying that Laine is equivilent value to Kapanen and Nielsen... If you want to compare Laine to anyone on Toronto it should be Matthews... You could be saying something completely different but that's not what it looks like to me...

Not saying your trade to Dallas wasn't good, because it makes sense, but Jim Nill said he wants an established player in the NHL for #3 overall. But good job on everything it looks pretty good to me.

Trade Muzz
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TotheNorth</b></div><div>I personally think Vegas isn't going to take Browns contract for anything. He's got 6 years at 5.8M CAP hit and is 32 now. Though still a useful 3rd/4th liner I really think you'd have to give up more to have them not take one of the other guys available. Mcnabb or Martinez are pretty surefire bets to be taken unless LA is willing to pony up more to take that bad bad contract. I think Brown might actually have the worst contract in the league TBH.
The Muzzin trade is interesting though I believe TB is looking for RHD not LHD to begin with, even though you took one of their LHD Muzzin only replaces him.</div></div>
where are you getting Martinez going to vegas from? the kings are going to protect 4 forwards (kopitar, carter, pearson, and toffoli) and 4 dmen (doughty, muzzin, martinez, and forbort) and quick... unless they trade someone the only 2 people i see going to vegas would be lewis or mcnabb

Would this make sense?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rmay50</b></div><div>Rielly is worth more than Lindholm right now because even though they are very similar in skill, everyone knows that the Ducks have to trade a defenseman or risk losing Silfverberg to Vegas for nothing. So, I think that the D-men for the Ducks would lose a bit of value knowing that someone has to go. I'm interested to see how stingy the GM's are going to be in trading with the Ducks.</div></div>
As a Ducks fan, I'm not overly concerned. Having a deep team means we're going to lose a good player. Even if they trade a Silfverberg/Cogs/Vermette/Manson/Vatanen away, we're still going to lose a good player. Really not much point making a deal and getting hosed if you're going to lose another good player for nothing anyway. Keep them if the right deal isn't there, stay deep and stand pat if you need to. Better to lose one for nothing than two for slightly more than nothing.</div></div>
Which is why I am interested to see how other GM's will treat the situation. The Ducks know they are gonna lose a good player (pretty hard for me to say good as a Kings fan) which is why I think they don't expect as much in return when people know they are really trying to protect Silfverberg/Manson/Vatanen.

I like more of the 4 year time frame because after those four years, Kopitar will be 33, Carter will be 36, Martinez will be 33, and it might be time to start the rebuild. So, having Pearson and Toffoli signed to similar contracts, the Kings will have a lot of options.
Or if Kopi, Carter, and Martinez all pull a Jagr and play until they're ancient, then I'd be more open to the longer contract(s).

The Twins
Just curious, not that this matters, but still just curious, why are the 2019 first rounders in there for both teams? I realize Vancouver's is probably gonna have more value than Montreal's, but then couldn't you just take out Montreal's 3rd rounder and 6th and take out both 2019 picks? Just seems like extra, unneeded stuff in there.
