drurys plan
Given the medical issues this represents an overpay for Eichel. If he was healthy or if it was common injury it would be an underpay, but he is not healthy, wants out and the team and him cant work out a treatment plan. He's quite the risk with his contract remaining. He's selling for pennies on the dollar when he goes. And no i cannot come up with a fair trade bc without his medicals there is no fair trade, it could take him 2 years or more to get healthy and or never get healthy. And yet, he could also be fine next year. I dont think you're getting him at the he will be fine next year rate. You're buying a distressed asset here. And they arent including Kakko for a distressed asset.

This is fair. Not the trade, because even though I just dont think the Sabres will get back anywhere near what the fans think they will it would take a couple 1st round picks on top of this and an offensive player as the main ingredient to get him. Then again it would be a right screw you to ship him off to OTT, where neither winning, the weather, or the commercial opportunities are as good as buffalo. Then again there is no way Ott is paying that big bonus before the NTC kicks in, making the whole idea moot.

Eichel as the Gretzky trade pls read description
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>Let's break the trade down.
Taking Okposo is worth about 2 first round draft picks.
Ristolainen is playing really well so his part of the trade is Schneider, and 2021 1st round pick (NYR)
Leaving Eichel for Zibanejad, Howden, 2023 1st round pick (NYR), Howden, and the 2 first round picks for taking Okposo's contract.
<strong>Howden </strong>appears to be on the same career path as Casey Mittelstadt, which is a third line center.
Zibanejad, would obviously be a good asset but he is signed for only one season.
I guess depending on what the Sabres could get for Zibanejad.</div></div>
I was in this exercise, just trying to clear the decks financially for the sabres and replicate what in a cap environment the gretzky trade would be.. Getting rid of Okoposo was purely a financial play, because no one is taking that skinner contract. If i was Buffalo i trade Zibanejad for a 2022 first and 2023 conditional first to pretty much any stanley cup contender. If you trade eichel its not going to be for fair value, its going to be as the precursor to an entire rebuild. I went by how desperate every Sabres fan was to get rid of Ristolen last year. Again a salary dump. Clear the decks, start over, use the additional 4 -5 first round picks to rebuild. anyone who has ever seen what superstars get traded for knows fair value isnt coming back, its a white flag. For the sabres they better hope its a white flag before the player has leverage. In 2022, adter the ntc kicks in eichel gets traded for pennies on the dollar.

Just trying to replicate the last time someone on this level (who was better) got traded. Its a lottery pick, two additional first round picks, an all star (who could be traded for another 2 firsts) and a salary cap relief to go into a full rebuild. I know its sad but the owners will do a full Ottawa in terms of salary expense. I actually think if Eichel gets traded it will be for less than this, because there is no such thing as fair value at this level.

I like the idea of Georgiev and maybe a deal can be made on the side, but the rangers need him if/when Lundqvist retires
draft picks are nice, but the flames are competing now</div></div>
I think the rangers would try to get out of sending one of those draft picks but i think they would do this. It solves problems for both teams. It take surplus for calgary defensive minded LD and surplus for Rangers offensive minded RD and helps each team fill out a need. I think the cap charges for each would would probably offset too. Plus 2.5 for georgiev. All in all its a pretty fair trade. Which most people in capfriendly dont like. They always want to give their trash for the other teams gold.

So would I, but they are relatively comparable. T'DA being able to be the pp guy is what made me think the value is fair. I dont know what toronto is going to do, but they have to get a better goalie and make some cap space, which is why i thought of Kerfoot, because he's a middle six guy.

The ottowa trade is pure cap management for the senators. It gives them a 4.3mm cap hit and they would be only 1.3 mm as his actual salary is 2.3mm for the year. And given the number of picks ottowa has they should be packaging them, but a different 3rd or 4th. sure. In the flat cap, some teams need to shed cap numbers and some need to shed actual money. ottowa is the second, cause your owner is cheap.

Both teams decline. Doesnt move the needle for either team positively. Rangers currently need Lhd, but will need a Rhd next year when Lunkvist is ready becuase they cant afford the money to TDA and fox in 2 years. Sandin is the best young (potential to be top pairing) def toronto has.

I dont this trade is as bad as it would seem, but pretty sure both teams pass. The only one the rangers should do is the strome one. The rest they pass on.

Lets break the cycle - NYR trade
I would say yes if im the rangers. Getting the first and getting rid of smiths 4mm cap hit next year probably lets them re-sign krieder in the off season if they want or not trade TDA. Its not the best use of krieder as an asset but come deadline it would be an acceptable strategic offer.

I would do this trade as the rangers. Its hard to be sure a 2018 first round pick is already a bust, some guys just take longer to develop. Timmins would also give them an additional surplus of assets to trade at the draft. Id kind of be thrilled with this return from the rangers perspective.

Its not like Krieder over here having spent his career playing with McDavid as his pivot. He's a very good player. And he is a better player when the games get tight in the playoffs and that has a lot of value when you are trying to give up the 31st pick in the first round for a guy. As for the points, he's not a sniper. He the guy who screens goalies and redirects or comes flying down the wing. It's a specific highly valued type of player. Is that trade probably an overpay. Yes i would say so, but tis not one of these toronto trades where its guys who cant make their 3rd line are bringing back a potential future no 1 goalie and a top pair defenseman.

You're probably right, but i looked for places where ott had asset depth and they have plenty of 2nd round picks and especially after this years drafts probably forward depth as thats the strength of the top ten where they might have 2 picks. And Georgiev should solve their goalie issues cheaply for a while.

TDL Everybody Out
I agree with you on strome. That the shooting should be unsustainable, but considering i could have scored on his goal last night, that helps the percentage. The key for the rangers is to pay him what he's worth by himself (4mm per for 2 years) and not what he's worth because of panarin (anything that starts with a 5 or has term over 2). Sell when the value is the highest and not get stuck with a contract he doesnt deserve, but 2 twos is what they could get if he was a ufa next season not with an addition year of control.

TDL Everybody Out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BiscuitBakesandHotTaeks</b></div><div>What would Strome cost say the Sabres?</div></div>
Strome is an rfa making 3.1 mm with arb rights. At this point im no longer convinced he's a bust on his own. The math said his number from last year were unsustainable, but then he got on a line with panarin. Sure his numbers are inflated with Panarin, but he's the kind of player who put with a dynamic player makes good on it. He was like the 6th overal pick. So i think he costs more then 2 two's, because he has term and only needs to be tendered at 3.4. If he was a ufa it would be the 2 twos. I think the krieder and the Fast values are right. Gorgiev is weird, if San jose hadnt **** the bed this year you'd think he'd be going there for a 2+ or a one with like a 4th attached to him. Personally i think deangelo's going to cost more then that, but mostly because he has term left and such a low cap number that any team can afford the add.
