Staying Competitive Next Year
I think acquiring McCann for the playoff run with Fiala and everybody else on the team warrants you the opportunity to formulate next years team. You can keep Fiala, if you dont like McCann or you can keep McCann and trade Fiala. Or keep them both at the expense of other players. Bottom line is McCann would be an excellent addition to this team this year.

McBain becomes a FA in August 2022 if he doesn't sign. So, if he wants to wait and choose a team, he won't sign with Minnesota and can sign in August with any team he chooses.

I think burning a year of ELC happens no matter what because of McBains age at the time of signing. So if he plays in the NHL or not, a year of ELC is burned. Boldy signed when the college year was done and it burned a year of ELC and he was younger.

Wild have to sign him first. Just hope that happens. Don't know if he's good enough to play in the NHL right out of college. But, he was teammates with Boldy, so hopefully he wants to sign with the Wild.

With half retained I think Guerin would make that trade in a heartbeat. With 2 years of Soucy at 1.375M it gives you choices on keeping Goligoski and trading Dumba or even letting both go to save cap for Fiala/Kahkonen.

McCann drives a pretty decent offensive game and is better than average defensively. Kraken will probably not trade him unless some team overpays. McCann would be exactly what the Wild are looking for between Boldy/Fiala. And it lets them choose who to keep in 2022/23

McCann is underated and better than most think. It gives the Wild the choice to retain him next year (albeit he will get around 5M) instead of just a "pure" rental that is gone next year.

My orignal was a 2022 1st, 2023 2nd, and Khovanov. That's maybe a closer reality for McCann.

Keeping Dumba and Fiala
I like your thinking and everything seems pretty much in line. Although I think the "bridge" contracts for Boldy and Addison are way low. They're going to get more than that on their next deal. Fiala might be a little low with the way he's performing right now, too.

Dreaming
I don't think its dreaming. I think Guerin would make a Fiala trade along the lines of the Zucker/Addison trade if the draft choice and prospect are what he wants. I can see him being hesitant to move Fiala in season, but it does solve some cap issues if he does. And adding picks and futures is what he likes to do. So, for the right package I see Guerin making a trade.

One thing is the NMC's in play on a lot of players. Smith and Stephenson are free of NMC's. Dadonov has the ability to list a 10 team no-trade list. Janmark is also free of NMC's.

If Vegas trades Stephenson (which I don't think they will) he's worth as much as what it would take to acquire rentals (Hertl, Giroux, Pavelski, or even JT Miller). It would take a package similar to what I layed out to get one of those guys. Stephenson and his contract are as good a gamble as any one of those rentals.

I don't think Vegas will move him. Many other ways to get some cap without moving a good player, on a good contract.

I think Wild would take that trade for the Rest of this season and the playoffs and worry about all the cap problems it creates in the summer for next season. Brock Nelson would be a good fit for our team for the playoff push. At that price.

Cap relief for Vegas Eichel and a C for Wild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dutchies</b></div><div>I can't see VEG trading a great contract like Stephenson to offload Dadonov. I think they'd rather just pay ARI a higher pick to unload him straight off. Not saying the offer for Stephenson isn't decent, just don't think he's a guy who's on the block.</div></div>
Well, this was my thinking. It helps Vegas in 3 ways. 1. In one trade it probably clears enough cap space for Eichel. 2. It allows them to keep Reilly Smith, Alec Martinez, or whoever else for this year's playoff push. 3. It gives them a 1st round draft choice for 2022 and a good Dman prospect. Now, I know they like Stephenson a lot so this trade is probably a NO. For the Wild, it gives them a 2C (for this year's playoff push) on a good contract letting them choose who to keep next year. Between 5 players (Stephenson, Fiala, Greenway, Dumba, and Goligoski) you can probably keep 3 of the 5 for next year's team, choosing who best fits your team. So, it's a trade that really helps both teams if Vegas thinks Stephenson is expendable. Maybe if the Wild add a little it'll coax Vegas into the trade.

sign and trade fiala to sens
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GabrielJ</b></div><div>The thing is Minnesota is keeping Beckman in Iowa for a reason. He sucks at defending and under dean Evason, you have to be two way player or not play. Also their very much manipulating the service time with Adam Beckman in terms of his contract turns to next year if he doesn't play 10 games. Playing with boldy has led to fiala becoming a stud again, resulting in Minnesota winning 8 straight. In the offseason this can be discussed but not for two players who won't play on our team</div></div>
Beckmans contract doesn't slide. It doesn't matter if he plays the rest of the season for the Wild right now. His ELC stays the same. Only Rossi, Lambos, O'Rourke, and Hunt are "slide" eligible.

Dumba's traded for prospects or picks. Wild can't take any cap back. Unless they package Greenway, Gaudreau, or somebody else with a cap hit.

Pavelski a week before TDL
1. Pavelski can pick 3 teams to be traded to. 2. Dallas might not want to deal him, even if Pavelski would wanna come here. SO, if those criteria can be met, GMBG can talk with them. I don't think either thing happens. Rumor has it Pavelski really likes it in Dallas.

Cap relief a C and a Dman to replace Dumba
I agree. If I'm the Wild I don't trade anybody off of the current roster at the deadline. Only futures and draft choices for any deal Guerin thinks gives us a chance for a cup run. Just threw this out there to see reaction and other people's ideas. STANDING PAT might be the BEST for the Wild at the TDL.
