JFresh redraft team - Edmonton

Forgot to add description - i updated it now.
Look at Jfresh on twitter, he had fans vote on redrafts. This is what the oilers team would've looked like

Next summer
Tom Wilson gets way more than $3.5 mill and is way more than a fourth line player.
Crouse is not a second line winger no matter what his contract says.
Would love to see Keller - Hayton - Schmaltz take off as a great highly skilled top line.
Geekie should be in the mix next year too

Seravalli on Brodie
Would be a terrible decision for the leafs to buy-out Brodie. There's no way they are getting a $5 million dman that is better than Brodie without having to give up a lot of assets.
yes Pesce is better than Brodie, but acquiring him would mean assets (likely 1st round pick +) plus the cap penalties from the Brodie buyout.
And there aren't any free agents left that are better than Brodie. Dumba and Bear are not as good as him. I could maybe see it if the leafs needed more quantity of Dmen (you could maybe get dumba & bear for a little over $5million) but they already have quantity with Liljegren Timmins Geo. They need quality.

2025-2026
Yes very solid. On the backend it's pretty likely due to the high quality prospects that some combination of Werenski, Severson, Jiricek, Mateychuk create a very solid top four.
Although Fantilli looks very promising to be a future one C and Johnson looks promising to be a good complimentary scorer, I think if two of
Johnson, Fantilli, Marchenko, Sillinger, Texier, and Chinakov turn out to be very effective second liners and 60 point guy's, this team could do some serious damage.

You can't offer sheet Bouch for $8.4 mill and then only sign him for $7.
I honestly think the oilers match for $7 mill and $8.4 mill you can have him for that price he aint that good

Is This A Playoff Team
Not sure if this has been mentioned or not but maybe Vilardi trys to play center? I know he was drafted as a center but was trending towards being a bust until this year when he played on the wing so likely wing is the best spot. But just a thought.
I actually think this team has a good chance of making playoffs

Without being talked about much, not sure how that makes you overrated

question mark
Move either Foegele or Janmark to the right side on the third line. A Foegele, McL - Janmark third line would be fast and high energy.
Bring up Holloway for the fourth line and you have Lavoie on the roster as well. Signing Toews would mean you have to put Lavoie on waivers. Which he might clear but might not

Just sign a bunch of dudes and hope one works
Question for ya if your an Av's fan.
From an outsider's view looking at their team Girard looks like such an obvious player that should get traded to open up some more cap space. Likely won't happen anymore now that freagency is done. But $5 million for a third pairing guy that is an offensive defenseman and not on your first powerplay unit seems like an unecessary luxury?
Don't think he is a bad player but say you trade him to a team needing some help on the backend. Even if the return wasn't great you could've used that cap space to sign Bertuzzi for one year. Because Drouin ain't starting playoffs on that first line.

Yes let's trade for a player who was just put on waivers and then put him on our top line as a hopeful cup contender. Because that makes sense

We’d been better off giving more $ and signing duchene and klingberg for a season and giving them tons of ice time to boost trade value for the deadline. Right now our bait is perron Sprong kubalik . We’ll be lucky to fetch a 2nd
Ya nevermind winning a cup were no where near a playoff spot and I predict copp will be bought our before his contract ends OR he’ll be a 5.6 4th line player</div></div>
Man i was agreeing with you. I was saying this signings are the kind of thing that makes the team good not great. I don't think Copp Compher and Kasper second line wins you a stanley cup especially when larkin is a mid level first line center and Raymond is still unproven whether he's an elite player or just a good player.
I think they have lot's of good prospects and a good backend. But they have no high end lethal scoring threats. No matter who they go up against in their division the opposition will have a better high end scorer than Detroit.

My opinion is these signings make the team good... but not great...
when you are full on rebuilding shouldn't you be trying to build up a great team??
Having larkin - copp - compher down the middle puts a baracade for Kasper and Danielson to jump up. Unless someone is moved to the wing...
Holl for three years Matta for two more and Chiarot for 4 more years is a baracade for other d prospects trying to make the jump.
A top six of Berggren - Larkin - Raymond
Copp - Kasper - Compher is good but not a chance that is winning you a stanley cup

letting you know right now from an Oiler's fan. Kostin you will love, he works hard, has some skill, and is funny off the ice.
But putting him next to Larkin and Raymond is a massive mistake. His brain and feet cannot keep up to that. at max he could be a third line LW but deserves to be fourth line LW. Which is why Edmonton had to let him go. They have Foegele/Janmark as a 3rd line LW and don't have the cap space to pay a fourth line LW $2 million

If only a Sanheim trade
You would get a lot more than that for Sanheim. Bailey just set the market for cap dumps at a 2nd round pick for $5 million cap hit. Wheeler is more than that.
This trade basically values Sanheim at a 3rd round pick.
I think you could get Winnipeg's First, Wheeler, and atleast a 3rd if not a second

Future Wings
Future does look bright,
Comparing this future to Yzerman's Tampa team the backend could be comparable with Edvinsson and Seider both looking to be superstars someday.
Goaltending should hopefully be covered with Cossa.
My only concern would be the high end skill. Even with Larkin and Debrincat those Tampa teams had high end offensive threats with Stamkos, Point, and Kuch. Not saying Raymond, Larkin, xxx couldn't get there but a lot of guy's like Danielson and Kasper seem to be well rounded players rather than pure offensive threats.

Yes he had a good season, the last three seasons were horrible. San Jose said they aren't eating very much of his deal. If he does get traded the return ain't going to be much

yes it costs money to dump contracts.. but Arvidsson is not a cap dump not at all. He had 60 points in 77 games last year... and was unbelievable in the playoffs. For $4.25 million that is a steal of a contract

Looks like a really good trade for both sides I would say. Kings are just now the team transitioning from a up and coming team with lot's of cap space to now having no cap space at all. Byfield and a goalie needing signed for next year as well

Who says no
I'm a little surprised this hasn't been brought up more often. Might just be recency bias but I think Nylander is a little bit better but may cost more too. Might just depend if both Debrincat and Nylander actually want to play in ott and toronto.
And Vegas isn't trading a 65 point player making $2.75 mill. That's one of the biggest bargain contracts in the league

I like the ideas of these trades, the Columbus one would be hard to gage whether they want to give up Sillinger but it's hard to gage Sillingers value being a high pick that hasn't quite performed yet

You realize this trade does nothing for Winnipeg right? A third if not fourth liner, an average goalie, and a late first round pick.
