PLD Trade Fn Blake
Looks like a really good trade for both sides I would say. Kings are just now the team transitioning from a up and coming team with lot's of cap space to now having no cap space at all. Byfield and a goalie needing signed for next year as well

Who says no
I'm a little surprised this hasn't been brought up more often. Might just be recency bias but I think Nylander is a little bit better but may cost more too. Might just depend if both Debrincat and Nylander actually want to play in ott and toronto.
And Vegas isn't trading a 65 point player making $2.75 mill. That's one of the biggest bargain contracts in the league

I like the ideas of these trades, the Columbus one would be hard to gage whether they want to give up Sillinger but it's hard to gage Sillingers value being a high pick that hasn't quite performed yet

You realize this trade does nothing for Winnipeg right? A third if not fourth liner, an average goalie, and a late first round pick.

Keep an eye on Bjarsson for a late first or early second round pick. Goalies are so hard to project but he is really really good

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>If I'm a Red Wing fan, I sure wouldn't want that future. Seven years of Guentzel starting at age 30, seven years of Nylander starting at age 28. Don't think they would e long term values at all.</div></div>

I have to think they're going taking Moore with the 9th pick but to each their own there.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jfstompers</b></div><div>I mean some of this I can see happening. Nylander or Guentzel probably but not both. Raymond's going to have to have a huge season to get that deal.</div></div>
Ya that's fair it's just very hard to predict free agent signings. The wings need to get some more high end offense for the future so the are some guy's that might work. And I don't really understand the fear in signing Nylander to a big contract at 28. Give him more term to keep the AAV down. Good players cost money and term.

Oilers offseason 2023
Some of these offers make me laugh. I'm an oilers fan and would love for them to get Pesce but just walk this one through. Carolina is trying just as hard as Edmonton to win the cup. If somebody offered a third round pick for Ceci at 50% retained would you do it? No not at all because cap space is the most valuable asset. So there is zero chance Pesce will get retained.
Secondly, Tulio is a throw in prospect to sweeten a deal. I like him, but every team in the league has three prospects just like him. Ceci is about a net zero asset due to his cap hit, and the second round pick is going to be very late.
So Carolina gets a C level prospect, their d-core get's worse all for the same cap hit because they are retaining, and they get a late second round pick.
yes for a team making a cup run this makes a lot of sense.
Would be like the Oilers trading Ceci for Travis Hamonic and a late second

Ya I agree that's what would make the most sense, only way I think Carolina would do this is if they had a handshake deal with Bertuzzi or Barbashev and they just needed to move Pesce for the cap space to sign one of those guys

Sheif has 201 points in 204 games in his last three seasons. That's more points per game than Aho. If you aren't giving up a very late first and Necas for that, then there is no way to bring in high end talent to your team

you can't seriously believe Calgary would/ would need to add a first to drop Markstrom. He has literally been a top ten goalie in the league the last five years and had a down year last year. That would be the definition of an overreaction

2023 NHL Entry Draft Projection (TOP75) - with hypothetical trades
Actually like the idea of those trades and picks.
Maybe just me but from watching highlights does Will Smith not look like he is a safer pick than Carlsson? Just don't really like the way Carlsson skates but maybe hes too talented for it to matter.
Personally I think Jayden Perron and Carsson Bjarnsson go a bit higher than this

Pretty obviously biased list against Toronto here. Put Matthews at 2 or 3 and Petterson down to Matthews spot and your good.
I'd have a very hard time believing many NHL teams would pick Petterson over Point Barkov, Matthews, etc..

if cap goes up slightly more
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JK74</b></div><div>I don't think the Hawks are trading draft capital for a player who's underperformed expectations. I like Yamamoto but I think the Hawks would prefer to use that pick to move up in the draft or trade for a younger player with more control. Edmonton is in the same boat Chicago was in when they let Strome go. His cap hit was on the verge of making him a negative asset. That's why he wasn't dealt at last year's deadline.</div></div>
ya that is a very fair point. Yamo is a very weird guy caught between being a decent top 9 player. But makes a bit too much money and there is about 50 other players exactly like Yamo out there in the league.
I think a team would take a chance on him for a third or a fourth round pick, but yes I agree Chicago might be better off keeping their draft pick and sticking with their original plan

My guess at what happens
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Samsoc22</b></div><div>Honest question: With as good as Bouchard has been do you really think he will only ask for $4M on his deal? I don’t see every Oilers game obviously and I know he is still young but that just seems super cheap from the outside looking in fan.</div></div>
Honestly yes I think that is all he will get. A great comparable is Dobson for the Islanders, they were both drafted in the same spot and have had similar career trajectories.
Bouch is a very inconsistent player. He has great skills but makes silly plays with the puck that when they aren't working it doesn't look great, when they do work he looks amazing.
He is never going to be a number one d-man (or I can't see it). I think the Oilers have leverage here because he wasn't putting up near as good numbers until he was on the powerplay.
