I was going to make a trade for Savard too, but ended up not posting it. This seems like a steep price to pay though for a 1.5 year potential rental.

Name on defenseman who will be better than Dahlin in 2021-22
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>One of his Swedish coaches. For the record, Lidstrom agreed.
<em>Back in December, fellow Swedish defenceman Nickas Lidstrom said that the 17-year-old reminded him of former Rangers defenceman Brian Leetch. Now, the four-time Stanley Cup champion told Dana Wakiji of DetroitRedWings.com that he thinks Dahlin is ahead of the development curve compared to where he was when he was Dahlin's age.</em>

Bahahahhaa. So one of his coaches gave him a compliment. Then what’s Lidstrom supposed to say? “Nah, I’m way better than that kid.” What a joke.

Who the hell has described him like that. That’s borderline the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Nooooo. Gudas is MUCH better than Niskanen. Niskanen has been declining for 2 years. Gudas has been putting up legit top 4 underlying numbers for years. But anyways, you got it wrong in that Jensen will be 2RHD, Gudas will be 3RHD.
Siegs in 30 games has been amazing. He has a 56xGF% with 45% ozone start. That's extremely impressive.
Caps bottom pair is a lot of teams 2nd pair.

Gudas is by all metrics better than Niskanen. Nisky's play fell off hard last year. It's gonna be that 6th spot that's a question mark, but Siegenthaler showed promise last year, and the coaching staff is very high on Fehervary. It's not their best D group ever, but it's solid enough with that forward group.

Gudas has much better underlying stats than Niskanen, at least last season. Gudas was also only on the ice against 67 high danger chances against...Niskanen had like 299. At even strength.

Waiving Djoos Good
According to Gulitti, MacLellan did not rule out starting the season with a 21-man roster. In that aggressive scenario, the Capitals would be down two players and have only one player as a reserve to get under the cap. It would force the Caps to be without depth during a busy first week of the season which sees the team start on the road against the reigning Stanley Cup champions before playing back-to-back games days later.
This is the actual quote from Russian Machine Never Breaks. It doesn't match up with what you're claiming. He's saying he's considering exactly what you say is impossible and only "on paper".

This only matters on long road trips and you get super unlucky. On home stands, hell you can have 20 on the roster and be fine.
On long road trips, having 22 is riskier than having 23, but if all goes well, 3 of those guys are still not touching the ice.
Besides Russian Machines never break, and we have a lot of Russian Machines.

I believe even GMBM said something like not having 23 for some of the season to be cap compliant. So I don't know if you're completely right here.

Kuzy savings should be $205K given $7.8M divided by days of the season x 5 actual days (3 games over 5 days). But you're pretty darned right about Djoos and Stephenson.

young mans game
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>One Jets fan asked for Orlov + Oshie. ????? I didn't see the Caps wrecking their defense to keep the same number of 30 goal scorers. Then another Jets fan casually added on Vrana, Alexeyev, and a 1st. Never read the comments. :)</div></div>
Honestly I might do this if I were the WPG GM. Vrana is going to hit 30 goals this year if he continues to develop and stay healthy, without the PP time. Laine only scored 30 goals with a lot of PP time. Vrana scored more even strength goals and points. Vrana is also a better two way player right now. He's a 2 way forward based on some advanced metrics and we obviously know about his superb sniping ability.
You can counter and say that WPG would be potentially giving up an elite goal scorer. That's true and that's a hard call to do, but he isn't that yet. Vrana is a good top 6 two way forward right now and is only a couple years older than Laine.
Not to mention you're also getting a top 4 D prospect and a first round draft pick. It makes your team potentially better all around in a couple years.
Honestly not worth it for the Caps to do.

I think if he has a decent year this season, Muzzin could be re-upped for somewhere in the $5MM - $5.5MM for 4 or 5 years; the advantage there (in addition to economy) is that Toronto would have only the right side to improve, not both.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>I don't know, people want to say this is a good deal but I'm not buying it.
McAvoy has injury issues. His production because of it was a lot lower.
Is he a better player than ZW, not sure on that. 5 million is a lot to have tied up in guys who miss a lot of games. I would have signed him to less and said show me you can stay healthy. I don't know if he can. Players know he has injury history so he's got a target on his back from any bad actors. When Chara retires I think this kid gets run.</div></div>
lol
Watch him play all 82 games this year and put 50+ pts like you want
For the " not sure if he's better than Werenski "
That's a steal/perfect deal. <img class="for_img" src="https://nbcprohockeytalk.files.wordpress.com/2019/09/mcavvsweren-1.png?w=607&h=500" alt="mcavvsweren-1.png?w=607&h=500">
