What I want us to do
I've seen so many Donskoi signings and I'm kind of perplexed, I'm sure he's a good player but he's never cracked 40 pts or 15 goals. I just don't think it justifies the cap hit when you can have Simon for under 1 million. Thoughts? Is Donskoi really good defensively?

I'm not really a fan of any of this. Donskoi signing is too much. Acciari will most likely get more money just because he was on a cup final team.
As for the trades...Johnson just won't be traded like like. It will be a contract coming back. Would rather keep Simon as a bottom 6 instead of having a 6th rounder. He is a really good bottom 6 winger. Sullivan just needs to keep him out of the top 6. Minnesota trade just doesn't seem to be a fit. I can't see Florida agreeing to that trade. Also, the pens taking back that Matheson contract would be counter productive to moving out Johnson. Pens should keep gudbranson. So far he has played very well for them. Until he shows other wise he is valuable to them.

Pens offseason moves
This is pretty realistic. Good work! I think Cole will sign for more but love the fact that you're not trading Kessel as hes worth way more to them for another run. They've had plenty of rest in the off season this year so they should be a cup contender next year (GOD that hurt to type!)

Mixing the rumors
If the choice between Coyle and Niederreiter comes down to just cap hit, the Pens would find a way to fit Nino. He's head and shoulders better than Coyle, and if he's moved to a firewagon team like Pittsburgh he'll torch things.

Realistic options for 18-19 season.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ryangatto_412</b></div><div>Totally agree I am just throwing the kessel trade as what would be somewhat fair. I wouldnt mind Pittsburgh retaining cap in a Kessel deal if it means we could get pick #5 crouse or Dvorak and maybe even someone like demers. I mean Edmonton needs D and Maatta is a perfect starting point for a deal with them. He is still young and has a lot of potential just needs to work on his speed. Maybe add a star prospect and that deal becomes much more of a realistic trade. Sheary would be good maybe on like a Edmonton or a team like that because of the star C he would play with. I think maybe kessel could end up on a team with a top 10 pick that would come in return for him. Teams that would make sense are teams like edmonton, arizona, or someone like that. I would like to hear what you think a fair kessel trade is because I like hearing what other people think.</div></div>
I am most familiar with Buffalo. 2019 or 2020 1st, Scandella or McCabe (Bogosian is a sabre top 2 when he is healthy and Botterill could retain), then I need to send a roster player, the only one that fits would be Reinhart, then the pick would need to be 2019 2nd. McCabe would be a best choice among the three due to his salary, and he is very good, Reinhart and 2019 2nd. Buffalo gets a really good RW, Rutherford gets a 2nd pairing defenseman and a pick. I think that is actually more than Pittsburgh gave up to get him. This is just my opinion, I would imagine any other Sabre fan would say "We do not want Kessel". Maybe JR could hold back some of the salary?

Very very very hard no from AZ on those deals. Top 10 pick, young top 4 D man, Young top 9 F and a good prospect for Kessel is too much, I don't care if he put up 200 points, that trade hurts AZ way more than helps.
Colorado also says no as Zadorov is basically the perfect D partner for Barrie.

I know it takes time to develop teams. Thank you for generating discussion.
Put Hunwick on waivers and maybe some will pick him up, I think that is what you want to do.
No one wants Sheary, if he is so good why does every post by a Penguins fan want to trade him. Not even the pens want him and that package will not get you Strome, D much less Domi.
Hagelin is worth about a 2nd, but Zadorov is worth a lot more than Hagelin.
Way too much for Kessel, I sort of doubt Chayka will trade Chychrun, take him out and the trade is close, because the 5th overall will bring a really good player.
The final trade I guess is close. Määttä is good I am not sure if he and a couple of picks are worth the 10th over all and Strome.

JT will not sign for 8.5, he is going to get over 11.5 and he plays wing? no way he comes to PITT then, Why would Arizona give up Strome who they need to build around for Sheary who can only produce with Sid, at this point PGH first rounder will be 25+ and Domi, I do not think Arizona will touch this deal, Zadorov is way to Valuable for COL, and the Kessel deal is even worse, that is not where the Arizona franchise it as right now, trading young players for a 30 year old.....

The only way your "rumor" comes true is if Chicago wants to rebuild, also you got the picks wrong, the second would go to MTL and the first would go to CHI..... where did you hear this rumor????

I like Hunwick, but buffalo has too many third pairing defensemen now, no sense in giving up a 4th for another.

- I really like the Edmundson signing (he would be a nice piece on back end) but we would have to trade for his rights 1st.
- Not nearly enough for Domi, yah he had a bad year but the dude is a star and a fan fav in Arizona.
