Three Years
This is the best ACGM I’ve seen for an Eichel trade. From a Sabres fan, I would honestly be happy with Lafrieniere and Lundqvist as a return for Eichel, we wouldn’t even need Chytil and 1st in my opinion

I'd rather have Cozens at 3C and Mitts traded. He doesn't fit in our lineup

Perhaps a middle man team wants to cash in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>McPhee, Botterill and Murray all think Montour is more valuable than Miller. Montour was traded for a first, Miller for a second.
Montour had 18 pts, +13, 19:30 TOI/gm, 00:40 PP TOI, 1031 PDO
Miller had 11 pts, -9, 17:08 TOI/gm, 1:22 PP TOI, 981 PDO
But somehow nearly all CF AGM think Miller if more valuable.
Now you know why I lost all of my hair reading some of the Sabre AGM comments about the Sabre players.
As to the trade.
I think Hutton will bounce back and it has been reported Miller did very well playing with Dahlin.
I may make this trade to turns the keys over to Ullmark and cut $6,600,000 of cap.
Cutting that much off of the cap is worth a first round pick (see Marleau trade)
Then I get the second back that I used to pick up Miller.
Many sport writers (I know it is bad to use them as a source) report that Borgan is NHL ready which could mean Miller could be moved.
Brandon Davidson has collect 8 pts playing for 6 different teams over the past three years does not appear to be the answer to our LHD spot.
So they would need to look elsewhere.
Maybe they could convince Pilut to return to the team?</div></div>
If it makes sense, I believe Montour is a more valuable player, but I think Colin Miller is more valuable to the Sabres because he is the perfect balance to Dahlin. Also Botteril was pretty bad at evaluating talent. Borgen is ready but I just don't see a spot for him this year unfortunately

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>desertdog111</b></div><div>I was thinking that the Sabres would likely want to clear one of the guys with 2 years left on their contract in order to make another run at Hall next year. Coyotes would also rather get a guy they like with term considering 4 of their 6 current defensemen expire after this season.
The way I see it, Thompson for Fischer is mostly a wash by their current play standards, perhaps Thompson has more upside but Fischer is better suited for a 4th line checking role. Sabres get a cheap top 4 D who can play the left side and a cheap starting goalie (when healthy) vs a top 4 dman and a second rounder. Perhaps the pick is too high, I think coyotes would still accept with a 3rd instead of 2nd.
EDIT: Also for what it’s worth the trade with Risto in it subtracts $75000 from Buffalo payroll. With Miller they’d increase their cap hit by like $1.5 mil or so (but again Raanta and Goligoski are on expiring contracts)</div></div>
I agree with all of this, it's a good move that benefits both teams. Sabres fans need to be a little more open minded.

First, we don't need another 3rd line winger, we have Cozens, Thompson, and Kahun to resign if they really need one. I'm fine with getting rid of either at this point, however I like Montour better because of his contract. We know what Risto is and he has needed to go for a long time. It's simply time to move on

If you look at Evolving-Hockey, his RAPM and GAR% analytics are very good. Had one down year with Carolina and doesn't really fit their system, but would be a perfect 2nd pair option for us to play with Jokiharju

I agree. I'm totally down to get on our knees and beg for Pilut to come back, but a big move for Vince Dunn would be cool. I think Jake Gardiner wouldn't be a bad acquisition either

Perfect finish to the offseason pt2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheOtherAuston</b></div><div>I mean Dunn has almost double the amount of games played, same point pace as Toews but has a Stanley Cup and played very important minutes for them, but that being said I don't know a whole heck of a lot about Toews. I think you have to discount the return to the isles because of their large cap issues, their return on Toews would be less than st Louis return on Dunn because NY has a larger cap problem so if they are moving someone below elite status the return won't be high in this flat cap. I think a first round pick and a B defense prospect or a lower tier roster player would be good for Dunn I just don't think struggling prospects is what they are looking for.</div></div>
That's fair. I still think the Sabres could/should swing that and it would be a good deal for both sides now that you have Krug. Also, Johnson and Samuelsson aren't struggling prospects, they are just very young but have high draft pedigree.

Based on the Devon Toews trade that just happened, what would Dunn's value be compared to him? Can't be that far off...

Rounding out Sabres with changing defense a bit
I think Colin Miller is the perfect partner for Dahlin. Joki probably isn't ready for top pairing minutes yet and both Risto and Montour are black holes defensively and both of them as partners would be a disaster. I think every Sabres fan would agree with that. Also, where is everyone getting this idea that Montour can play on his left? He is one of the worst analytic defensemen in the league, him or Risto need to be traded. Also I really don't think Miller is much of an upgrade over Hutton. Getting Pilut back would solve a big problem. Otherwise, I like the lines

Really? These are 3 pretty high-end assets in my opinion. A 2017 8th overall pick, 2019 31st overall pick, and a 2021 second? You could also add Mattias Samuelsson (2018 32nd overall) to this instead of Ryan Johnson since he is farther along in his development, but he probably has a lower ceiling.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gortonsfishsticks27</b></div><div>He's not as critical as he's making him out to be. You'd think this guy is related to Toews with how obsessed he is at overrating him on this website.
Is he good and a top 4 dman? Yes.
Is he critical to the isles success? No.
On the isles defensive depth chart, he's at fourth behind pelech, pulock, dobson. If isles were presented an opportunity to package him with someone for a top-line guy I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Would Buffalo be open to trading either Olofsson or Reinhart for Toews+?</div></div>
Probably not this offseason, but maybe next. It would depend on the situation with Hall and Cozen's development. We would probably rather offer draft picks and guys like Mittelstadt, Ryan Johnson (LD, 2019 31st overall pick), or Samuelsson (LD, 2018 32nd overall pick), but I'm not sure that would enticing enough
