Buying out Skinner and trading Savoie and Power
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AStovetop</b></div><div>I'd take on Skinner for a 3rd if I'm the Sharks. That buyout is fine for the first year but man it goes up a lot after that. After next year:
$4,444,445 $6,444,445 $2,444,445 $2,444,445 $2,444,445
He's a cap dump not a buyout.</div></div>
I heard rumours that Ruff and Skinner will not work. Curious what happens

Samuelsson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RecycleShark</b></div><div>2nd is for Ferraro
1st is to dump Samuelsson's contract.
Sabers move on from overly-long bad contract with struggling, injury-prone Samuelsson. Sharks gamble that he can rebound and become a top shutdown defender again. Sharks can be more patient than the Sabers as they are further away from contending.</div></div>
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Holy $h!t…. ABSOLUTELY NOT from the Sabres
1- we LIKE Samuelsson and aren’t looking to dump him AT ALL
That’s just stupid
2- paying the 11th pick in the draft to dump him ?
Somehow even dumber
3- wtf would we even want Ferraro for?
We have plenty of puck mover type defensemen, and we already have FIVE lefty defensemen. He’s the EXACT OPPOSITE of what we could be looking for- a “shut down” type, physical RD
Sorry bud, but this is just an outrageously bad proposal
ZERO CHANCE

Even if Samuelsson was a dump, buying him out costs like 750K$ a year for 12 years since he's under 26. There's no reason to pay to get rid of him... That said he has legitimate value anyways so it's a moot point.

Let's get a few things straight.
Sammy is not a dump. Sabres are not trading him for another lefty. Sabres are not trading him for a smaller and older dman. Ferraro only makes a little over a mil less than Sammy. Why in the world would the Sabres add a top 15 pick and a second? This is awful for the Sabres and exactly the opposite move of what they should do.

Turning this ship around
Bernard-Docker is like an appendix in Buffalo. With Dahlin, Power, and Byram there's no need for an Offense only D. I like Batherson but not at the cost of Kulich. For that reason, I'm out.

It’s possible the Sabres could be interested in either (or both) players- BUT there’s no chance we’d give up a 3rd for them imo

The problem is those guys are the ones the pens currently have that they need to keep cause they are harder to play against. This person always makes trades just to make trades. It’s a useless trade for the pens when they have almost 5 million in cap space and can afford to just keep those 2 players who were the only 2 players that consistently showed up in the bottom 6.

skinner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>The problem I have with this idea, is I think pegula was responsible for giving Skinner that contract. Moving him for smith would be admitting to a mistake, maybe not as much as a buyout, but still. Plus, I'm just gonna assume that Skinner nixes any trade anyway.</div></div>
He's been in Buffalo 6 years it seems, he sucked a hard few of those years but also scored 30+ goals in 3 others, so while overpaid overall, its been a bit of a mixed bag in his production from Skinner. He has not generally been the principle reason Buffalo has not had recent success, ownership could probably get out of it now without having to fully admit a mistake in signing him.

Brady
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>It's possible that the Sabres next coach isn't going to want Skinner around. Depends on who it is, Skinner can still produce at 5v5, maybe having him freewheel on the third line with a better two way center and a power forward that plays two ways, like greenway- would be a way to keep him out of the way. If it's brindamour, skinners style of hockey isn't gonna be compatible with life. Personally I want him gone, but I respect that if we move him before his contract is up, it's gonna hurt.
As far as winning the lottery, at 3%, I'm not holding my breath. I am pretty sure that when bettman dies, the epitaph on his tombstone is gonna read "see, I told you hockey would succeed in the sunbelt".</div></div>
The odds of Buffalo winning the lottery are so slim It’s silly to consider the possibility. But that is what would make it so funny if it actually happened. There would be bellyaching across the league of how Buffalo doesn’t deserve it, and we’re just going to destroy another potential star player. And don’t forget the accusations of tanking, despite the fact that we finished outside the top 10.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>No, and I'm one of the Sabres fans that would offer a lot for Tkachuk. What you could do, is keep celebrini as he is likely better than Thompson and cozens in the very near future. You could potentially then move Thompson and his cap hit, then add if necessary, for Tkachuk. You would save Thompsons salary, which you could then use to buyout Skinner. Skinner can block any trade, he's not going to Ottawa. I don't think you can give up a guy like celebrini.</div></div>
First, thankyou for your insight.
Second im not seriois about this, just wondering if ottawa fans would part with thier precious for a new shiny one. More to see how they value Tkachuk, so i dont care about what the sabre could would should do if they got the 1st OA.
I 100% agree with your thoughts.
