Start of 201920 Season- PLZ Critique
Weal is not going to be back and he's not getting a raise. Laughton is an RFA and he will be re-signed. He'll likely get quite a bit more. It's unlikely Raffl returns to the Flyers as a UFA and takes that steep of a pay cut.
I'm not sure why the Flyers fired the GM if their only intention is to keep the band together.

Start of 201920 Season- PLZ Critique
The Flyers have some solid young guys, especially on defense. I like Provorov’s deal, as he has shown to be a reliable dman who is fairly versatile. You’ve also left enough cap to bring in a goalie to mentor the young tandem you have. Perhaps Bobrovsky makes a return? You’ll have over 10 mil in cap space with this roster since the cap is increasing to 83 mil or so. Overall this group is solid and with a few vets to help guide this young team, they could be good

Laughton, Raffl, Weal will all likely be traded or sign elsewhere. All 3 would likely get more than that on the FA market (except for maybe Weal). I would like to keep Raffl and Laughts but money is too low. Think more 2.35 mill for 3 years type deals. No one who plays regularly in the NHL signs for 1 mill for 1 year.

Yeah, half my bad there. I saw your trade as for a 7th and figured that's what you meant. Then I saw the "anything" language. I understand what you are getting at: now is the time to turn a page. That's fine and I understand the arguments for doing that. It's not the same as saying the Flyers need to trade Simmonds and accept anything for him though. (edit) FWIW I happen to think he is best suited for third line minutes and special teams, but should be pulled out if he's injured. Guy hurts the team when playing injured more than he helps.

With all the cap space, I'd see if you can sign some guys to one year deals to push for a cup.
Keep Simmonds, they have the space, trade Lethera instead, if you can...
Maybe add Thornton and Vanek/Neal/Perron to 1 year deals.
Giroux-Cout-Konecny
Lindblom-Patrick-Voracek
Simmonds-Thornton-Perron
Weal-Laughton-Leier
You could probably sign Mrazek on the cheap 2/$3mil, or trade his rights.
As is, I like the idea of having younger guys in the lineup and I like the defense.
*Meant to hit 3 stars

Thinking Wayne Simmonds is only worth a 7th round pick is a negative overreaction.

Ahh, I was waiting for an overreaction roster to show up on here. Some fair points about coaching though. Lappy indeed looks best suited as a player development guy. To add, we sure did miss Joe Mullen running the power play, didn't we just now? Not that we get as many opportunities as deserved, but it sure would be nice to see our guys out there executing with confidence on the PP.

got to give term to get the money right. Term isn't that bad either if you look at how it's structure. He's only making $3.5M the last two seasons of it which still isn't bad for a guy if he's a 30-45 point player at age 33/34.

Flyers Lineup 2017-18
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>scusu33</b></div><div>Made changes, still don't know how the forward core is going to look, but I tried my best lol</div></div>
I like it...there are many combinations for the 2nd and 3rd line and we will not be able to properly predict them unless we know how players like Lindbolm and Hagg and Morin play at the development camp.
With the new coach coming in for PP, I think that we might start to see more plays from below the red line, rather than working it from Giroux and Ghost. I fell that Simmonds will have less of a role in the slot, and will be more active behind the net.

Philadephia Flyers as on July 5th, 2017
I'm alright if Patrick plays 3rd line C for his first season. 3rd line eases him into the NHL by not having to deal with the other team's top 2 lines game in and game every shift Plus it should allow him to catch up to the speed of the NHL at a good pace, not rushed as if he were on the 1st 2 lines. He'll get his minutes and he could prove himself and move up, but he's young and needs to develop in the NHL and be able to learn from his mistakes/shortcomings. We have plenty of time to watch this kid be our #1/#2 center....now is the time for his adjustment.

way too much for Stolarz. Could see this being the lineup but I'm almost positive its Hagg instead of Sanheim.

likewise. Hagg is NHL-ready. Sanheim still needs some fine-tuning, and even if he didn't, Hextall wouldn't start him

Schenn and Cousins more than likely wont play center on this team unless there's injuries, other than that I agree with most of this lineup and agree with the other two comments that Hagg makes the team over Sanheim right now.

Not "more than likely" as WAshed out said-Schenn is definitely not a C. He is a Winger on Couturier's line

Gostibehere probably doesn't get Drouin with his bad season. Also, what's with the second rounders in the trade? They're like right beside each other in the draft so they aren't necessary

I'm actually ok with the Ducks trade. Bieksa is easily a top 4 defenseman behind Provorov, Gudas, and Ghost on this team. Plus it gives a veteran next year while we try to bring in two or three rookies. I've been saying if he would waive it in season the Flyers should offer it - but he won't

Hate the concept of the Ducks trade. Doesn't Bieska have a NMC? So why would he waive it to got to Philly? He may waive it for the expansion because he's 99% sure Vegas won't claim him.
