Goalie we need
Winnipeg doesn't need D, if anything they need to trade D to make way for younger D to get in full-time.
Hellebuyck is my pipe dream, and this site cracks me up because everyone in the comments thinks they know exactly what a trade would cost, but I would guess Winnipeg would ask for Knies, Robertson, 1st "ish" type package. "ish" because again, everybody on this site who likes to sound smart in the comments isn't a real GM and doesn't actually know.

Nothing else is needed, they are a Pens fan. He was the sole reason they lost a couple years ago. On the flip side, I would personally not give that up for Jarry.

Jets sell off
I love that you went after Hellebuyck and DeMelo. Hellebuyck is definitely my pipe dream that won't happen. However, Winnipeg needs to make room for D prospects ready to make the jump, so I highly doubt they would entertain taking D back in a trade and Abbruzzese and a 1st in 2023 and a 2nd won't be enough alone, especially if you tack on Mrazek's contract. This trade would probably need Robertson and Knies if you subtract Sandin and Villeneuve.
Also, I really don't think he signs here, but I would love Stastny here as well. I think you're actually the ONE person who has traded Kerfoot on here, and ACTUALLY acquired someone who can also jump up and play C in case of injury. As much as I don't want to trade Kerfoot, that is exactly what they need to do if they do trade him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Kyper's report says nothing about the Panthers using Duclair to dump Bob, just that they'd retain the max. That's the part I'm pushing back the most on - why is a team that is that hard up against the cap just *giving* away a 30 goal scorer on an extremely team-friendly deal?</div></div>
Well, you might want to rephrase the majority of your strike one, because you were pretty focused on the retention when it's out there they would retain that much on him.

Thread:
Changing It Up With Bob
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Someone else floated this idea the other day and it's just. not. happening.
You literally think that Toronto is going to get Florida to retain 4x$5M, & send you a 30 goal scorer with a sweetheart 2x$3M deal, just so they can "dump" Bobrovsky and get a late 3rd round pick back?
First strike: name me a team that has ever retained *that* much money for *that* much term. Know why you can't really find one? It's because it'd be easier to just buy him out and absorb a *slightly* larger cap hit if they really want to get his deal off the books - $5.75M this year, then 3x$6.75M in years you assume the cap goes up by at least $1M, then 4x$1.75M - not ideal in terms of the length but makes more sense than adding Duclair - I'd rather have the 30 goal scorer this year and next and pay an extra $750K/$1.75M then send him away to save those hits.
Second strike: why would Florida be so desperate to get rid of him? He put up a .913 SV%, 2.67 GAA, and 8.6 GSAA this season. He also led Florida to their first playoff series win since *1996*. Wouldn't it look bad to your fanbase if you jettison the goalie who helped bring you there as soon as possible, in addition to giving up one of your top scoring wingers with him? I'd have to assume that Florida wants to keep contending and Spencer Knight doesn't look fully ready for primetime yet (.908, 2.79 GAA, 0.5 GSAA) - he's still only 20, so that's fine! Give him another year of not having the carry the full weight of the team and let him grow into the role instead of just shoving it on him before he's good to go. If this year's playoffs have taught us anything, having a solid backup is incredibly important and as long as Knight is on his ELC I can't see the Panthers being super desperate to dump Bob.
Third strike: Bob's got a full NMC! Even if Bill Zito suffered some traumatic brain injury that made him thing it was good business to retain 4x$5M so he can trade his starting goalie & a 30 goal scorer for a 3rd round pick, Bob will make sure it doesn't happen by staying in sunny southern Florida and vetoing this deal.
Bonus strike: Look, you know that you're not getting a free 30 goal scorer, right? So if you want to spend 4x$5M on a goalie with numbers like, that, why don't you sign Jack Campbell (.914, 2.64 GAA 10.0 GSAA) and get the same production from a guy 4 years younger (and 4 years further away from his decline).</div></div>
Yes, it is crazy to retain that much money, but you all need to freaking chill. That is what KYPER said he is hearing. KYPER. Not the Author. KYPER. THAT is what's being reported. It's not the author of this post pulling it out of his ***. So when you people comment on these things, you need to do some research and chill on the author lol. Some of you on here, man lol

"Centre depth isn't an issue" tells me you do not know very much. What if JT goes down again? God forbid Matthews? You don't have anyone to jump in and fill in. But, I'm not wasting my time after this on someone who says centre depth isn't important LOL

The core isn't moving. Robertson isn't ready for that role. This team is much worse with absolutely no depth at C that could move up with Kerfoot gone and versatility not replaced, and Nylander is much better than Puljujarvi. Again, rather have Campbell and use the extra money vs Gibson to get a better backup, even though I would prefer 2 goalies making 2-3 million each. This team gets bounced fast.

I keep going back and forth on the Toronto trade...
I like the fact that the 1st is next year and we add picks this year. I don't think management does it because the 1st would be their main bait to add at deadline and idk about Georgiev's regular season. The way I see it is they can make the playoffs regardless of goaltending with that division. I want them to get 2 new goalies, but I think they may keep Mrazek and sign a goalie around 2-3 million, see how Mrazek does with new coaches, and make a trade in season if needed. I do like the deal except idk what they would give up for a deadline deal, because Robertson's value is overvalued, and they won't give up any top prospects like Niemela or Knies. I think it's close, I may take the risk...idk if Dubas and Shanahan on a last crack chance take that risk. I honestly don't know though. I would 100% take this Georgiev trade over any Gibson trade out there.
I guess I'm saying, I would do it, but I don't know if Dubas would.

I gotchu, I took it as a LTIR retire kind of move, which is why you included that, my bad there..but yeah, LAK and a couple others could beat any offer EDM throws out (realistically).
I do think the Oilers would like to use that 3 million and perhaps get an even better option than DeSmith...even though I do like DeSmith personally, I think Edmonton is going to attempt to go hard in net.

I think Comrie may get more than that, but yes, you could. I just think about Campbell at 5 (max- think it will be less) vs Gibson at 6.4 and where else you could use that (minimum) 1.4 million.
Again, I would prefer getting two guys (Comrie has been on my list) who make up to 3 million each and just roll with that.

Put him In front of a team like... hmmm... Carolina that can clear the net and he's fine. His contract isn't fantastic and the Leafs surely can't go back to him. But for the love of God, I bet you there are a few teams that would want maybe a 2nd or a 3rd to take it on. If you ask me, Ritchie was even worse and the Leafs actually got something back.</div></div>
I totally agree with the majority of this, especially the Ritchie point. The only thing I'm starting to consider more and more here is with the changing of the goalie coaches and department, I'm really starting to think they might give him a crack to go through camp and start the season with him, then if he's the same and doesn't change, there's an in-season trade. I don't know why I think that, I'm just really starting to get that vibe from management.

I just rather save the 1.4 million and send Kallgren down and have that 2.15 to sign a tandem with Campbell. If Gibson goes down or sucks, then you're really screwed. At least if you bring back Campbell, then you have another guy back there, and then can call Kallgren up.
I would prefer two new goalies, but would prefer Campbell over Gibson from a cap perspective. I say go get 2 guys who make up to 3 million each. I also wouldn't be surprised if they gave Sateri another shot, but he starts in the A.
