Oh what's the return? I've just seen Edstrom + 1 + 3 + 3 everywhere. To me that's too little.

If that's the return he should be gone. Help your biggest enemy with long term retention for 2 late 1sts.

Fit is solid, but I think it may have been a little overpay without retention is the problem but idk much about Thompson (is a 3rd + Thompson > a 2nd?)

Exactly what I want if SJ doesn't get the 1OA and that Pitt pick stays in that range.

Definitely see that, along with a guy like Granlund they're great to have around. If he does get shipped off I do hope he re-signs in the offseason.
I do at least expect Barabanov to be moved since there seems to be no interest from him in returning to a rebuilding team.

Strictly because of the NMC.

I really want to keep him but willing to trade him for assets and resign him in FA.</div></div>
Probably trying to re-sign. If they get a 2nd I think they'll feel like they have to move him and maybe revisit in FA.

Wahlstrom and a 3rd would get Duke. Hoping he gets a late 2nd (with 50% retention ofc) because of recent play but not expecting it.

SJ should accept I would hope.
Maybe break it down like:
Taking on RJ = Olausson
Duke no retention = 4th + move up from pick 45ish to pick 30ish.

Probably not enough to dump Holl. Although I'm sure SJ would be open to a swap if the price is right/better.

Not sure the Devils give up all that but the framework and fit look good.
I like the SJ trade. Would Lysell be available or is that a no-go from the Bs? Would love the 1st + Lysell due to positional need. Add whatever's needed to balance.

Way too much for Markstrom, even if it were 50% retention.

Way too much for Addison. Ohk and probably Emberson don't get that much either. Sprong will get more money or term from SJ or elsewhere.
SJ likely not trading Granlund, Kunin, or Benning for that.
SJ accepts the SEA and DET ones but not sure it's mutual.

Next years plan unrealistic but hopeful
Might be a year too soon to go big in the FA market and not sure how I'd feel about the deals for those two, but not the worst. I think AB and Duke are both too much $ and too long.
Musty will likely need another year before the NHL, and wouldn't be against Smith/Celebrini going back to NCAA for another year but I'd understand if they want to make the jump.
Mostly agree with the draft picks (if SJ isn't #1 they should do the same 1C/W 1 RHD with the picks). Another top 3 pick in '25 would set them up well.

2 Deadline Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Finski</b></div><div>But why would San Jose not want to move him? Not to be cruel, but you guys will suck for many seasons... You might as well take advantage of picks and high 1-5 OA players for 2-3 drafts to come.</div></div>
They'll suck with or without him, but I think they'll want to keep some vets around especially ones like him who can move around the lineup and play PK. If the 3rd isn't conditional I think they'd do it. Not sure with just a late 2nd they would. Value's there, but I can see SJ extending him after this contract if they don't find a deal they like.

2 Deadline Moves
I think that's fair value, but I also don't think SJ moves him unless it's an overpay. He's versatile and will help bring along some offense from the young guys as they get called up so it's not a complete black hole on O out there.

They should imo, the rebuild will be a few years and they should be taking any and all 1st and 2nds over that time to draft and develop or use those future picks in a trade when they're getting competitive again.

Not sure the Wings do it but makes a little sense with the savings for next year. SJ might even do it for Fabbri and a 3rd.

Should certainly see them at the end of this season assuming a few FWs are shipped out and Hertl/Couture remain out.
