Don't fall for it. Let this Ranger fan who had the same notion about Pirri a few years ago when he played for us tell you, he's gonna light it up for about 20 games then he's gonna forget how to hockey and become a popcorn eating box boy for the rest of the season.

Why would either team give those picks for Campfire and Holland? NYR would be lucky to get 7th round picks for them.

I am not sure any line plays their traditional role this season. I think Quinn rolls 4 lines when everyone is healthy. I imagine Andersson and Chytil getting 12ish EV min each per night with Andersson on the PK and Chytil on PP2.

I agree. I am giving Smith the benefit of the doubt though. I think DeAngelo has to really wow Quinn in order to be playing. It's Smith spot to lose I think.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wildfan24</b></div><div>how come strome? is it just to get more picks out of Edmonton.</div></div>
i feel like CAR will make a big push for Duchene or even E. Staal as their 1C and it may involve sending Rask the other way. CAR at that point needs a 3C and I think Strome fits in nicely. He's 25 (same age as Rask) so not the youngest but he wont command a ton of money to stay. Throw the kids on his wings and i think he'll be happy with 3-4 mil a year long term. As long as he put up 30-40 points and doesnt **** the bed on defense I'll be happy.

I agree it will probably be for RNH. I would personally rather have Strome and a 1st or some combo of picks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DONTGIVEAPUCK13</b></div><div>Faulk declined last year and playing 3rd pairing minutes will not improve his standing. Skinner>Faulk so no way the starting point is Strome and a 1st. If it is it makes sense why he hasn't moved. But as we get closer to the start of the season Faulk will be off loaded to easy the paychecks being signed.</div></div>
He had a terrible season last year. No doubt about it. But before that he scored 15, 16, and 17 so he's capable of being a top offensive D in the league. His defense is definitely suspect at times especially when you have Slavin and Pesce doing all the right things. He's a third pairing D on CAR for sure. But hes a top 4 on every other team not named Nashville and he a PP1 guy for just about every team (including CAR).
His value to EDM is much higher than his value to CAR. Last I checked EDM was dead last in PPP. And that is with the best player in the world. Faulk automatically moves you out of that. EDM right side is also non existent outside of Larson who is a solid defensive defensmen but has no offensive upside at all.
My point is that EDM needs him and CAR doesn't need to trade him so if anyone is getting the short end of the deal it's EDM.

Nabbing Faulk
Canes hang up and have a big ol laugh. Canes are not desperate to move Faulk. They are not in a cap situation. They have no reason to trade him other than to make way for the kids. Skinner had a full NMC and his contract was expiring this year so he had a lot of baggage with him - that said, he still returned a 2nd and high level prospect. This deal on the other hand is actual poo (pun intended). EDM should start with Strome and a 1st and then work from there. But since its Chiarelli i can see a 1 for 1 deal of Drai for Faulk :)

Foegele is either the last one to make the team or the first call up. I am very high on him. I got to watch a ton of Checkers games this past season and I am very happy with him as a NHL player and think his style of play is perfect for this team.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>So I've seen this ALOT on here. I just don't get it. There isn't even a little comma next to his name that says he's a part time center. Aho is a Great winger. CAR's best winger (we'll see what Svech can do shortly) He hasn't played Center in the NHL. He didn't play center @ worlds. He barely played center in Liiga which is much easier to do with the larger ice/space than in the NHL. I'm NOT saying he's a bad player. Patrick Kane is a GREAT player too, but stunk at center. Why does anyone in Raleigh want to mess with the finnish combo that's playing so great together?</div></div>
I agree. I think the idea comes from he tried it at the end of the season, he did it at worlds, he's apparently been working on it this summer, so why not give it a chance? If the Fins have chemistry let it ride. If not, then after a few games move him back to the wing and put Staal back in the middle of Aho and TT. I think it's worth a shot and could pay dividends if it works.

I love Mamin but I don't think he'll ever find playing time on that team unfortunately. Especially if Vatrano gets meaningful playing time (which he should). I think trading one or all of the above mentioned soon to be bench warmers is the best idea

Just having a little Trade Deadline fun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SuprDave45</b></div><div>Yeah, I mean granted it might seem like a bit of a stretch to ask for Liljigren, Toronto could easily say he's "untouchable". But really, if you dissect each of the pieces being moved and put them into individual deals...the sum return has to be pretty high. The potential 1st rd pick alone could come close to a player on par (Liljigren was a 17th overall pick). It's not to say they wouldn't say no, just saying it isn't some outlandish offer. I would love to hear from some Leaf fans here.
I think Spooner's a better player than all the nonsense you hear out of Boston, he'd fit right in with Buffalo imo.</div></div>
Liljegren also fell quite a bit in his draft year. He was top 5 i think before getting injured or sick or something. I can't remember exactly.

Just having a little Trade Deadline fun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SuprDave45</b></div><div>You're leaving out the deadline aspect of making the deal in the first place. Teams pay a steep price for rentals in the hope of winning a cup, which is Toronto's presumed motivation in the first place. This deal not only offers the rental = cup aspect, it also gives future pieces in DeAngelo and the 2nd/1st, so they get kind of a "cake and eat it too" deal. They also have Smith's services for 2 more seasons. I am not saying there isn't wiggle room to make the deal right, for sure....but it's in the ballpark.</div></div>
I see what you are saying and agree that the TDL aspect raising the stakes. My thinking though is TOR is really high on Liljegren and while Zucc may be the best player on the NYR roster I don't think his value, even with a 2nd (potential first) is high enough for TOR to part with one of their top D prospects at a time when they need D.
I also would love for Smith to have a bounce back season but his value right now is 0 if not in the negative.

At first glance that's a huge overpay for Liljegren, but on second though, that's actually kinda of an underpay. The only useful piece of that deal is the TB 2nd which could be a first if they win the cup. Otherwise, Zucc is a FA and really doesn't fit in the top 6, and DeAngelo and Smith are highly inferior to Liljegren. Liljegren may still be a year away from the big league but I don't think TOR panics and floods their roster and drains their cap with Smith and DeAngelo. I think this is a case of quality vs quantity and frankly the rangers don't have the quality.

If you're gonna bench someone bench Mac and Sceviour. McCann and Malgin are both young and have a ton of potential. Otherwise ya you are completely correct. FLA will be a fun team to watch. They just need a goalie now to take the reigns from Luongo.

Faulk is a 1/2 pairing D on a lot of teams. Canes aren't sending him off for free. I don't think the Skinner trade is fair comparison for him.
