(CHI/MIN) - Fleury for conditional 2022 2nd round pick
While I believe on the surface this looks like a fair deal, but I believe Chicago needs to get a C grade here.
I believe if they managed things better, they should have been able to get more for fluery when the salary is retained.
I recognize they got him for nothing and flipped him for a second, but I think they should have gotten more in return for retaining 3.5 million of salary.
The player alone should have gotten more I believe.

Kane to Nashville
All good points. Thank you for your insight.
Personally, I don’t think teams care who they trade to during a rebuild mode or chasing after a cup.
At the end of the day, Nashville is one impact player a way from being a contender.
Throw your chips in and go for it.

To build on that, until this season, I would not have included Debrincat on this list either. He has started playing with more edge and improved Defensive game. I'm fine if we find a replacement for him though.

I'm not a fan of his style of play. Same with Guentzel. Too small to win Gold in my opinion.

Not bad selections.
It’s too bad wheeler isn’t on the list. I’d still rather see a Brock Nelson, Anders Lee vs Guentzel.
I’d think Lee can be a surprise in this tournament.
Also I’ll bet Eichel will be good enough to go.
It would be awesome to see a line centered with Eichel and Kreisler/larkin on the wings. No one could keep up with this kind of speed! Except the McDavid/Mackinnon line for Canada.

I’m not understanding the incentive for Chicago? Best player in franchise history for a unhappy average player and a late 1st round pick??

MY USA Olympic Team
1st Line scenario
Canada: Debrincat-Matthews-Kane vs Mackinnon-McDavid-Marner...... that's not much of a contest as far as I'm concerned.
Russia: Debrincat-Matthews-Kane vs Ovechkin-Malkin-Kucherov..... Nope, no contest there....
Sweeden: Debrincat-Matthews-Kane vs Petterson-Zibanejad-Nylander .... ok thats an advantage for USA
Finland: Debrincat-Matthews-Kane vs Lanie-Barkov- Rantanen..... Good Matchup for both...
I'm just not a fan of playing the win with talent mentality for Team USA.

MY USA Olympic Team
I’m not trying to be a jerk here.
I’m simply saying this is probably the lineup Stan will go with and it will be painful to watch.
Same old story that’s hasn’t gotten USA anywhere.
Vancouver was the one time the built a lineup that didn’t rely on talent. And it got them silver at least.

MY USA Olympic Team
All of Canada just laughed out loud knowing they will win gold if this is the lineup Stan puts together. Smaller than canada, slower than canada and less skilled than canada.
This is a 5th place finish team.
Russia and Sweden will put skill this team and Finland will have better leadership to get them past USA.
USA needs to find their strength and rely on that.

I say keep Johansen and add another 1st.
You need depth to make a run at the cup.
This MIGHT do that.
Or work a trade that includes Askorov.

Debrincat doesn’t play good defense.
We all know that. He’s too small and Canada especially will expose that.
He doesn’t play great on the international stage either. Look at his experience.

2021 my expectation for lines
All fair points. Central is a tough division so it’s a safe assumption that Chicago will finish 4-5 or maybe even 6.
My biggest question is if it’s almost certain you will finish there, why on earth did he trade for Jones.
Either be a contender or don’t.
He made good trades, but it’s not enough in my opinion. They don’t have anywhere close t enough depth.

USA Beijing 22 - No Eichel
You can certainly build a team that will outwork Canada. That’s the only way the US has a chance. Why on earth should the US play a skill game vs other teams. It won’t get them a medal.
They’d be lucky to get a bronze playing with “skill players”

Guadreau and Guentzel will get tossed around by Canada. They will get you through the preliminaries but won’t get you anywhere in the medal round.

If Toews was healthy then yes they would, but he’s not healthy and not sure what he’s capable of. Until they are sure, he stays with Chicago.

This is the year to win it probably
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>I’m very low on the last two drafts, Reichel looks solid, but after him I don’t see a lot of upside in the prospect system. I understand it’s to early to judge the success of the hawks last couple of drafts but I don’t foresee anyone recently drafted ( outside of Reichel) making the team in the foreseeable future.</div></div>
You are showing more faith in Reichel than I am.
I wouldn’t get too excited about him.
Let’s look at facts, best case scenario- he’s another Teuvo. He’s turning out good for Carolina but not great. He’s not going to help win a cup. That’s all I’m interested in is getting back into cup contention and the players they having coming up will do that. To quote the late great Tom Callahan - “in auto parts you’re either growing or you’re dying”.
Same applies here- lol
I don’t see them growing with these prospects so you might as well be dying….
