Trade deadline
I'll start by saying I don't think the Islanders will trade Brock Nelson, especially within the division. But him at 50% retention it's going to run you a 1st, 2nd and good prospect anyways. Drury seems to be ok but not sure what his true upside is. As for Gunler, he seems to be an overseas prospect who isn't very talented. The "division tax" for Nelson (assuming they'd even trade him within the Metro) means it's going to have to be a higher prospect/pick than Gunler

Isn't it kinda just wishful thinking by so many Leaf fans that Muzzin stays on LTIR permanently. Sorry his cap just can't be wished away.

Kadri In Bailey Out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Anus_McLeod</b></div><div>Baily shouldn't have negative value, but teams aren't making it cheap to take money these days. Bjorkstrand got just a 3rd and 4th, Pacioretty just future considerations, Nemeth cost a 2nd and 3rd to move, and Burns didn't cost what he should.
All that is to say that I would guess Baily goes for a lower price (perhaps even a lot lower).</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>slapshot723</b></div><div>Bailey doesn't have negative value, but he doesn't have a lot of value. I think Bailey for Grant and a mid-round pick is fair.</div></div>
Here’s the question teams need to be asking themselves. Is it worth leaving a good asset on the table because of a fantasy offer that isn’t coming? There’s just no way Bailey is actually a negative asset. And for the analytics crowd who wants to point to his numbers — you have to remember the analytics community is far from perfect. Jfresh literally tweeted that when he tried to project who would lead NHL defenseman in goals next year the model told him it would be Kurtis MacDermid. That’s just a mistake he’s caught. I wonder how many slipped thru the cracks…. And I say that as someone who subscribed to him anyway lol.

I think the idea is that Nashville would want to add some
middle six scoring if Forsberg leaves.

Someone very stupid is gonna give Ryan Strome a lot of years and a lot more money than that. Wouldn’t be opposed, though, at that price

Like your analysis but unless Strome and Domi have no better offers, I can't see them settling for just one year prove it contracts.

I have zero issue with this other than I feel like Beau-Nelson-Wahlstrom is all shooters and no player makers. Also Nelson isn’t the same player he was back when they were experimenting with him at wing. He can win draws for Barzal and then plug up the front of the net.
I totally understand wanting to keep Brock as the 2C though.

Golyshev is coming
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>slapshot723</b></div><div>I think you're right, because he's our draft pick he can play right away.
There's something different about Golyshev vs. Sorokin. Is it because Golyshev's contract was terminated vs. Sorokin's expiring?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewLadd</b></div><div>I’m not sure, but that’s a good point. I just imagined since Krapstov is aloud to play this year for the rangers that Golyshev would be aloud to play for the islanders</div></div>
I'm 99% sure that the decision was made before the summer restart that teams weren't allowed to add the KHL guys to their rosters, since they wouldn't have been available during the normal season (KHL contracts expire post-season or something along those lines). Since we're in-season, and Golyshev's team terminated the contract prior to their free agency date, I think it'd probably be fine, right?
