-Sharks wouldn't be sending back a pick here - Duclair has shown he can play well with good linemates and has been one of the only scoring threats on a bad Sharks team this year. Even based on his current 35ish point pace, I think he would get back more than a mid/late 2nd rounder with full retention on his own, without the Sharks needing to have to include additional draft capital.

-It's been said upthread, but Varlamov has a full NTC and has already been rumored to have nixed a trade to Edmonton in the past. I'd also argue that taking on the 4x$3.75M left on Jack Campbell's contract is a heavy burden to add into the trade - the Isles take on the same term for a backup goalie, except he costs them $1M more and has a much worse track record. Bourgault is 21 and not really forcing himself out of the AHL currently, and the 1st will most likely be in the 17-25 range. I don't know what the cost of dumping Campbell would realistically cost, but I don't think there's enough value here even if you look past the fact that Varlamov isn't likely to go anywhere.

-I think the Flames pass here. It'll be easier for them to flip out Tanev at the deadling with 50% retention and get a solid return without having to take on extra term and salary - if this was Ceci's walk year, I would look at it a little differently, but if I'm Calgary I don't love taking on an extra year of an over-30 dman with a $3.25M hit (plus giving up a 4th & a 7th?) just to get Broberg and a 2nd rounder three drafts away.
