Replace Kane and Ceci
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SociallyHawkward</b></div><div>Just making up stats here? Their last 4 trades were acquiring beauvillier for a 5th when the team was decimated by injuries. Trading beauvillier away for a 5th at the deadline. Paying nothing for an ahl player in rem pitlick. Then paying a 7th for Corey perry which didn't work out.
There's no need to take on ceci's contract without being compensated. If they want a RD they will just sign a ufa. If Edmonton wants to clear cap space they can pay the 3rd round pick that the hawks have gotten in many other cap dump transactions recently or find a different trade partner.</div></div>
Making up stats? You just confirmed what I stated. Lol
I can see Chicago wanting compensation but this isn't a bad deal at all.

Replace Kane and Ceci

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SociallyHawkward</b></div><div>Hawks would still want a 3rd to take ceci.</div></div>
Just for reference, 3 out of the last 4 trades the Hawks made were them paying depth picks to acquire depth players. Ceci is still a good player, just needs to be in a limited roll unlike the one he has had in Edmonton. Pretty sure Kyle Davidson takes something like this, especially since they have a few open spots on the roster and young guys who will need a bit of sheltering.

Buyers market for forwards Oil deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>smokewiseganja</b></div><div>He's been unhappy with playing time for a bit, but that would complicate it. If the blues want to trade him (why????) I doubt they get an offer better than this. Definitely could get a higher pick or prospect, but not both AND a viable top 6 guy</div></div>
He would add to the long list of guys that we'd be trying to phase out of the lineup for the younger guys to come in. It complicates more than it helps, not to mention he has a NMC and we pretty much wont have a say in what to be able to do with him. I don't really see a reason for the Blues to target Borgault either. I could see Akey being a target, but we are already in a position where we need to explore moving forward prospects for defensive prospects.

Kinda hard to evaliate what to do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>smokewiseganja</b></div><div>I’ve seen a few games. The underlying numbers are all you need to know he’s not great. Blues fans seem to be the only ones that think he’s decent</div></div>
Whether we're right or wrong, we've all seen what Parayko can accomplish in the right situation and we're convinced that the numbers are dragged down from playing the no.1 role on a below-average team with a well-below-average defense and an awful choice for a partner, the always professional but mostly terrible Mr. Nick Leddy. It's easy to say that he'd be better somewhere else or with some other partner, hard to prove it. Maybe the contract will age poorly but right now the guy seems to be capable of his former self.
And we know that trading him would put the remaining Dmen even further out of their depth and this team would absolutely stink for a few years. Not the worst thing to happen, but not the direction the front office is taking. I think once they trim the fat they'll be searching for a capable partner to pair with Parayko.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>smokewiseganja</b></div><div>Why are the oilers paying more money and their top prospect for a lateral move in goalie</div></div>
Skinner is better than Allen and Pickard is cheaper... anything to do with Allen is a hard no from the Oilers.

2006 Lowe Deadline in 2024
-Sharks wouldn't be sending back a pick here - Duclair has shown he can play well with good linemates and has been one of the only scoring threats on a bad Sharks team this year. Even based on his current 35ish point pace, I think he would get back more than a mid/late 2nd rounder with full retention on his own, without the Sharks needing to have to include additional draft capital.
-It's been said upthread, but Varlamov has a full NTC and has already been rumored to have nixed a trade to Edmonton in the past. I'd also argue that taking on the 4x$3.75M left on Jack Campbell's contract is a heavy burden to add into the trade - the Isles take on the same term for a backup goalie, except he costs them $1M more and has a much worse track record. Bourgault is 21 and not really forcing himself out of the AHL currently, and the 1st will most likely be in the 17-25 range. I don't know what the cost of dumping Campbell would realistically cost, but I don't think there's enough value here even if you look past the fact that Varlamov isn't likely to go anywhere.
-I think the Flames pass here. It'll be easier for them to flip out Tanev at the deadling with 50% retention and get a solid return without having to take on extra term and salary - if this was Ceci's walk year, I would look at it a little differently, but if I'm Calgary I don't love taking on an extra year of an over-30 dman with a $3.25M hit (plus giving up a 4th & a 7th?) just to get Broberg and a 2nd rounder three drafts away.

Yeh on a team built to lose that gets caved by other teams. Ceci doesn’t get caved, he holds his own on a competitive team and gets the job down.

Considering he’s played top 4D/top pair D for like 2 years now, most would be wrong.

Why would they let Nylander go over like 500k?? Doesn't make any sense. They wouldn't' lost Nylander over 400k or 500k, especially with the cap sky rocketing to maybe 88mill next year
