<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>A former 2nd overall pick who is playing on the top line for a contending team, who has size and defensive acumen as well as obvious offensive talent, making 2.1 mil for the next 2 years, after which he'll become n RFA....

AND

A 21 year old former first round pick who has been playing in the top 6 for a contending team from the time he was 20, who has size, puck moving ability, physicality and defensive acumen, still on his ELC for the next 2 years...

AND

A 1st overall pick

And all we have to do is bring on a guy who can still contribute to our 3rd line, to go with a long term cost controlled solution for our top pair to partner with Rielly, and a long term top 6 cost controlled winger who will be a no doubt first liner, all for less cap than an expiring Willy who's asking for over $9.5 mil until he's 36? AND A FIRST?!?!

Nevermind my friend here, he's had a little too much of the Willy sauce tonight. We happily accept!</div></div>

Here we go again with your absurd definition of value. Do you understand how badly Toronto loses this trade? Toronto gets the scraps that the Rangers are trying to get rid of in order for them to bring in a player like Nylander to be closer to the cup. What happens to Toronto? They lose a 40-50 goal scorer and ends up with 3 depth pieces. Kakko has been playing on a top line with stud players on NYR and accomplished nothing more than a 40 pt season aka he’s not a top 6 guy. the other two guys have low ceilings and are pure depth. The late 1st round pick is meaningless since Toronto is trying to win a cup. Remember, the team that gets the best player wins the trade and Toronto gets nothing close to that.

Thank god you aren’t the GM of any team because your assessment of value is straight out of left field. Guys like Nylander are ones that you try to acquire not give away, if Leafs do this trade it would be a fleecing and a half and I guarantee you the majority of the fan base would be against it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DH28Hockey</b></div><div>I think Bouchard is far and away more valuable than TK and Hart, and I say that as a Flyers fan.

Although TK is a beast, he's already 26 and RW on a team overflowing with talent on the wing.

Hart is probably the most valuable Goalie in the league, but at the end of the day the past 2 goalies to win a Cup were sort of afterthought acquisitions. I think it's somewhat fair to assume you can get a Goalie capable of taking you all the way later in a rebuild (especially with Ersson, Kolosov, and Bjarnsson in the pipeline).

23 year old, 6'3 right shot defenseman under RFA control coming off of a season where they just put up 1D results are players that very, <em>very</em> seldom the market. Adding him addresses our biggest organizational need for the next 8 years at a minimum, and in this particular trade would be acquired for pieces who probably aren't necessary staples to the rebuild anyways. Even if pound for pound Edmonton wins this from a value perspective, I think you make this trade without hesitation. Very little else matters when you get to add a player like that</div></div>

Agreed with this until I saw “hart is the most valuable goalie in the league” sorry bro, but that just delusional. Hart has proven absolutely nothing in this league except that he’s a replacement level backup. He ‘could’ have a bounce back season if he gets on a different team, but saying he has any sort of real value is just unprecedented.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>Yikes.. if you can't piece together the fact that playing behind one of the worst rosters in the league will negatively affect your stats then you are hopelessly lost my friend. If you look at literally any of the goalies who have recently moved from a bad team to a good one you can see a clear improvement for obvious reasons; Gustafsson, Korpisalo, Samsonov, Vanecek, Georgiev, Hill.. there's almost no exception to that being the case.

Speculation towards Gibson's potential? He's already proven he's capable of being an elite starter in this league. The hilarious thing is that he posted a .899% on the last place Ducks, while Campbell posted a .888% on one of the best teams in the league. But sure, the Ducks are actually the ones who would have to add to acquire Campbell at the same cap hit after the retention I included, who is a year older and lost the starter's job to his subpar backup.

You were the one to say he's been trying to stay above .900% for the last 5 years, I simply stated the fact he's done that in 4 of those 5 years. But sure, I'm the one grasping at straws. Great take buddy, you're an absolute genius.</div></div>

I understand that him playing for the Ducks makes his stats worse… it’s obvious. But what you don’t understand is the risk. Not every goalie who goes to a better team does well because goalies have up and down years all the time. Why doesn’t every good team sign a cheap 950k goalie if the goalie is automatically going to be good because they are on a better team? Do you see the flaws in your argument?

With that being said, my original point of Gibson being too much of a risk for his cap hit and a goalie that has proven nothing over the last 5 years is something no team would take a chance on especially if it costed them assets. You people who overrate Gibson are the same ones that overrate Hart; brutal goalies that automatically have insane amounts of value with no precedence for it. So aside from you being passive aggressive for no reason you haven’t really formed a proper argument other than screaming “he’s going to a better team so he will play well” which is pure speculation. What about Murray that signed with Toronto and put up horrific numbers? Why doesn’t your theory apply to him?
