Flames deal
Why would Treliving trade a player he just signed to a new deal... that would look so bad and no UFAs or RFAs would want to sign with the team again

EICHEL TO CALGARY HAS TO HAPPEN
Valimaki in this package puts way too much value given up, also makes the Flames over the cap. It has to be Zadorov instead of Valimaki, and Flames probably throw in an additional conditional pick

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TCMonkey</b></div><div>Past two seasons Ottawa has finished BELOW Calgary in the standings! TRUE. And YET, in that time:
Sean Monahan has 32 goals, 66 points, 264 shots, 40 BLK, 71 GvA, 71 TkA, and is a -22.
Connor Brown has 37 goals, 78 points, 296 shots, 65 BLK, 69 GvA, 108 TkA and is a -5.
Brown is also an elite penalty killer who ranked 1st in shorthanded goals this season.
So... how is Monahan is the better player..?</div></div>
Yeah this is pretty spot on. Connor Brown is the type of player that the Flames need to break out of their rut. Really gritty player and Sutter's type too

1. Dermott=Bennet. Dermott had more points last year then Bennet and he will definitely come at a cheaper cap hit.

Calgary would also decline this deal. Bennett is worth more to the team than a 4th liner, a LHD that would be 4th best on the team by the end of the season, and a 2nd

Toronto will have to take cap for this trade to work. And Calgary probably wont add in another pick on top of the first, which is already probably too steep

Still wouldnt trade Lindholm for that. If DeAngelo is better than Hanifin then why dont you just keep him

Calgary is not trading Bennett after his last couple of playoff performances. Kerfoot offer makes the deal even more laughable.
Florida is probably not trading their cornerstone big RHD defenceman for that package either.... He is their Morgan Reilly if you will

If jersey is trading with Calgary a defenseman is comin back to NJ.</div></div>
Good points, what about Kylington instead of Janko? Also didnt realize that pick was the #7 OA. You dont think NJ would want Johnny for Bratt + Merkely + a mid 1st rounder?

Why trade Ryan? He's the only player that's actually any good on the bottom 6 and is PK1 for the Flames and a good FO guy. Flames dont really need the extra cap space, especially if you dont trade a Gaudreau for Hall, who are basically the same player with the same type of mentality
Agree on the Lehner pickup

No one is giving up assets for Stone or Gillies
Why throw away a legit top 4 dman who can play both sides of a def pairing for picks only (Brodie is not a cap dump)
Rangers need to clear cap - they barely save any money on that trade
Why are you trading Derek Ryan - dude was the top FO center in the league, plays PK and PP, and can move up and down the lineup for a cheap contract

Brodie gone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>There are so many teams close to over the cap once their RFA signings are completely. Just so few buyers of players with cap and not returning cap. Yea I agree the Flames are stronger with Brodie. But soon there will be a multitude of teams needing to dump some good vets for cap reasons. It's almost what we are seeing with a couple of UFAs such as Gardiner and Williams, teams have set their roster and cap. I would hate to be that team come September 30, having 23 signed and over the cap by 4m. What to do?</div></div>
And there are teams that do have the cap space that still need upgrades in their top 4. You think Tampa is going to roll forward with their current signed dman, even with Point a priority? MTL needs a left hander, so do teams like CLB or NYI.

Agreed that Florida is not best fit for Brodie, but Brodie is not a cap dump. Dude is a top 4 dman in almost every team in the league, on both sides of the defence pairing. What you're suggesting would be a brutal example of asset management

That trade is a bit meh. Ceci and Stone is a wash basically - both expiring, both bad. Leafs shed a little cap for Brodie and lose Kapanen? A little sideways. Mind me I'd love it if it happens but doubtful
