(STL/DET) - Fabbri for De La Rose
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_K</b></div><div>Worst case: he gets a few games on the 4th line and nothing happens when he's out there.
Best case: sundqvist 2.0 ^^</div></div>
That's what we want from our 4th line, nothing happening, lol. They have the most defensive starts & he'll fit right in. Fabbri is horrible on the back-check, never trusted
him out there since his rookie year... and I just didn't know any better yet back then.

I think de la Rose is going to provide exactly what the Blues want from him, defensively responsible minutes. I also think he'll earn a spot on the 4th line...

With regulation wins now taking precedent over ROW wins this season, does anyone know of a site that keeps track of 'regulation wins' yet?

5 Questions
1 The team will get the Blues into the playoffs, so Tarasenko just needs to be back postseason. Possibly by February there will a scoring asset or two available for a cheap rental, anywhere up to Tarasenko's $7.5M cap. Then Tarasenko rejoins the team in the cap-free playoffs, ala the 'Patrick Kane addition'...
2 Five teams are probably coming out of Atlantic, so I see no reason Buffalo can't stay one of them. The wild wild west seems up for grabs right now. I hope all three of those teams get in, cause I don't think any of them are built for the playoffs.
3 Meh, there's probably 5K podcasts if you wanna hear how to fix the Leafs problems.
4 If they stay relatively healthy & solidify their game by mid December, I think Pitt easily finishes top three in Metro
5 Out the gate, Carlson is obviously on fire & seems to keep shining over & over at the right times, huge reason Caps are leading the league right now. Bad goes to SJ Sharks entire fiasco... gotta love it!

(CAR/STL) - Faulk & 2020 5th for Edmundson, Bokk & 2021 7th
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>You're looking at the wrong piece, it isn't Edmundson that's the main attraction for Carolina here, it's the German, Dominik Bokk. In the SHL he has some of the bets allround analytics and it one of the most highly touted prospects league wide, this is a move that was made to bolster a young forward core, when the time is right. You talk about Faulks production.... he isn't paid to score, he's paid to defend. He ranks worse in his defensive zone, across his career, than Jack Johnson, Karl Alzner, Cody Ceci, his x_GA is always through the roof. He's not a good *defenceman*, but he's a great producer. And that contract he got was a hell of an overpay</div></div>
Bokk hasn't proven anything, he might be a bottom six at best so don't get your hopes up too much. As far as the extension, I trust Armstrong's decisions but only time will tell. Either way, that extension has nothing to do with the trade though. Army knew what he was getting in Faulk, and he knows Parayko is our main shutdown RHD, so Blues will be ok ;) In the end, you guys got coke-sniffles & a prospect for Faulk.

(CAR/STL) - Faulk & 2020 5th for Edmundson, Bokk & 2021 7th
I know this forum is East coast based, but I still find it amusing to see all the people voting Carolina. Among NHL Dmen for past five seasons, Faulk is #7 in Goals, #4 in PPG, #4 in GWG. Faulk>Edmundson, he couldn't hold Faulk's jock strap. The Blues offered Eddy only $2.3M for reason, dude loves the penalty box too. Bokk is a 25th pick that is nothing but 'hope in a bottle' that statistically will not make it in the NHL. As far as raises next season to Stl D, (expecting this to be Bouw's last year) the D's budget will at the most account for 34-38% of the cap. St Louls completely improved their Stanley Cup winning blueline, adding a fourth 10+ goal scorer to the group. I'm really loving this move...

I think teams will play a lot tougher against Tampa this year, but it's still just an amateur prediction, lol.

What Now Discussion
1. Will the Blues make it to the playoffs this year? definitely
2. Will Tarasenko surpass 40 goals? doubt it
3. Is Binnington the real deal? Hope so, but I'm not sold yet
4. Who will be the Blues MVP this season? O'Reilly
5. What do the Blues need to improve? power play
6. How long before the cap catches up with the Blues and they need to dump players? Maybe next year with Petro, Dunn & Schenn all FA, but Armstrong has been known to pull rabbits outta his hat in recent years
7. Best contract? O'Reilly
8. Worst contract? Probably Steen only cause we could do a lot better with his cap hit, but he's still an important piece on the team. It would be nice to see Allen with a $2M paycut
9. Will the Blues be trading away any key players before this years TDL? I doubt it

Cap Solution- reward good drafting
Toronto already had a HUGE advantage. In the past ten years, Toronto has had six top 10 picks because they were in the dumpster. In the same time period, my Blues have had zero top 10 picks by staying competitive; in past THIRTY years, the Blues have had only TWO top 10 picks. Why should Toronto get the added advantage of a discount on premium players just because the team sucked?

Give discounts to picks only from rounds 3 through 7 if you wanna reward quality drafting... not top 10 picks.

Cap Solution- reward good drafting
I don't agree with rewarding a team for sucking so bad that they get to draft high with a discount on those top players to boot? How many years were Toronto's picks in the top 10? How many picks even in the top 10 do you think St Louis has had in the past 30 years? St Louis has stayed competitive, and they've already been punished with low draft picks. Dumpster teams like Toronto have the advantage of choosing from the cream of the crop. Toronto got greedy!
