<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RecycleShark</b></div><div>I like the idea of trading for Knight. Blackwood for Knight is a little risky, but I'd still do it. Vanecec for Knight would be better if Florida would do it.

Good reclamation projects. Sharks need a few forwards who are good at defense too.

I'd consider trading Bordeleau for a young player of similar value but bigger and better on defense. Trade skill and offense for size and defense.

The Shark' s D needs a complete overhaul. Worth spending some money on UFA's, or taking on some bad contracts with overpaid but decent D men. I'd look to replace Addison, Benning, Rutta, and Burroughs with bigger and better RD. Sharks still need a pp quarterback. Maybe Havelid? Thompson? Barrie? Klingberg? I'm ok moving Muk up next year. Thrun may need some AHL time.

I agree on Vlasic: Would buy him out but need to hit the cap floor. Could trade him for another bad contract. I've seen some interesting Vlasic for Anderson trades on here. I'd do that.

I don't see Wiesblatt making the NHL. I still have hope for Gushchin, undersized but highly skilled. Wait and see on Bystedt and Edstrom.</div></div>

Not sure is Vanacek moves the financial needle enough for FLA. Why I went Blackwood. From a strictly asset management point, if Zito would take Vanacek, I would be all over that. I think Blackwood would garner a better return, and the contract is cheaper making him easier to move.

I am not sure now is the time to be making upgrades on the blueline. On one hand, given the depth that is there, you could back into an excellent deal. Conversely, what is there isn't terrible.... not that good, but not terrible. Ferraro, Thurn, Muk is a pretty decent starting point. The need to a PP QB is evident, but at this point becomes a short term solution. No one on the market will be a Shark when they turn the corner.

I offer optimism on Weisblatt (although you are probably right).

Suck. Suck hard. And draft. Draft well. I would be investing as little as possible this year.

If you can open that theres some interesting numbers in that article, they've been pretty bad for awhile now, beating the weaker teams like Anaheim and Columbus has masked their slide a bit.

Sure they can roll three lines but their 3rd line can't score to save its life, they were productive early in the season which was a major part of their early on success but after a third of the way in they went pretty cold. Lowry and Appleton went on like a 20 game drought without a goal, Nino went like 15 games. The depth on the Jets is so inconsistent offensively, this season it looked like the best depth they'd had since the 17-18 season but again it just went back to what its been in recent years, unproductive time wasters.

Their special teams aren't very good which is really hurting them, their PK is "okay" at best and their PP is awful.

Bones is a part of the issue, he's very Maurice like, won't split up 55&amp;81 and won't touch the Lowry line which is exactly the same as Maurice. It also seems like he lets Hellebuyck decide how much he's gonna play which is a detriment to the team and Helle, Maurice did the same thing, someone needs to rein in Hellebuyck's ego.

Lastly does the Jets defense look like one of a true contender? I don't see it, some good depth for sure but DeMelo on the top pair is really weak and not convinced Dillon-Pionk is a 2nd pair of a cup winner either.</div></div>

Well this is insightful!

I have to agree that they lack a player that will go into the dirty areas...... very reliant on the ability to throw the puck around in hopes of a defensive breakdown.
But they are awefully good at that.

I have always been good with the blueline honestly outside of Schmidt. What they lack is a secondary offensive D beyond Morrisey.... which I think is supposed to be Poink, but he has settled into a great 2-way player.

Lots to think about there. Almost like you described my Leafs lol
