i don't think i'd do the seattle trade. I don't think it makes us much better while still leaving us wanting an actual 2C for playoffs.

Only thing that I would try to change is using a 4th rounder to get Kahkonen, and sending MTL that 3rd to take RyJo. I think we're really going to need that 2nd rounder in a future deadline.

The only other thing is i'd hate to trade for kahnonen and then see him walk right after. I really don't see us resigning geo since his price tag will go up. If we are in talks for kahnonen i'd be asking to speak with him about how much his next cotranct would be. I'd hope it would be around the same since his numbers haven't went up but i think in our system he'd basically be another geo. So it would all be on the resigning amount for me haha because that would saolve the goalie problem for another 2/3 years</div></div>
Imo Ritchie is the one untouchable in the prospect pool draft picks. I’d rather trade 2 1st rd picks than include Ritchie in a trade. The guy was considered a top 10 prospect before his draft seasons started, he played it with a hurt shoulder that needed surgery and his play lagged because of it. He is back healthy and having a monster d+1 year which if your the Avs is exactly what you wanted to see when you picked him. If you have a guy that can be a legit middle 6 C for you on an elc you don’t ever give that up if your the Avs. The best part of his game is that he had a 200ft two way game before and now healthy he has upped his offensive output. But then again I’m a total sucker for center prospects especially given how hard it is to find one, and I was convinced Newhook was going to be the answer at 2C.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swissmontana</b></div><div>Ritchie > Behrens for the Avs rn. Avs will want an ELC player <em>somewhere</em> on their roster when it comes time to extend Makar & Rantanen. If Ritchie works out well, you go from having one of the weakest center depths in the league a top 10 one quickly. Or you move Colton to the wing and he tears it up there as a pure finisher rather than playmaker <em>oh nooo</em></div></div>

I don't mind the first two, but I think Avs could get by without another G if they could just get consistent scoring. That said, trying on Kahkonen isn't the worst.
CMac should just take the loss on Ryjo, imo. Dump him for whatever you can get, even if it's a 7th rounder. Would hate to spend assets to get rid of him.

Screwing Around Looking For Trade Pieces and Partners
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Seems to me COL is in their prime contention years and what is adding another cup worth!?
Byram is struggling this season and he’s an expensive 3LD, so his value has likely dipped a bit. Same goes for RyJo who’s value has dipped significantly and many would consider him to be a cap dump
Ritchie is a good prospect, that’s it, that’s all. He’s no guarantee. I’m offering two of the leagues most respected shut down players, guys who would and could take COL over the top and all the way to another Championship
Exactly. Maybe the trade value is off a bit, but it’s an idea and counter proposals or suggestions are encouraged and appreciated. 99% of comments on here are just ppl bashing others, so you get used to it</div></div>
Even with Byram struggling, Colorado still clearly values him very highly seeing as they weren’t willing to trade him to Philly for Gauthier. The only way I’d see Colorado consider trading Byram is if they’re getting a young 2C in the deal. I don’t think Calgary has the right pieces to offer Colorado so I can’t see Byram to Calgary happening

Deadline 2024
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swissmontana</b></div><div>yeah, I like the Granlund $ amount and his contract running out next year right when a rookie C could take over. i'm not opposed. I just think Henrique has higher upside this year.
MacDonald is awesome, I liked him a lot with the Avs and Eagles and I think he has tons of upside. we just have SO much defensemen depth rn</div></div>
Hmm, I feel like Granlund has been the far better player than Henrique this year. The time to sell for ANA on Henrique was when Getz was still there and he was having that great year.
As for MacD, he's played primarily forward this year, but I feel like depth forwards also isn't the Avs issue. it's more the Middle/top 6 Center depth

Deadline 2024
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swissmontana</b></div><div>Henrique is probably ahead of Granlund in terms of who the avs would prefer but at this point i'd prefer some stiff corpses to RyJo, so i'd personally accept. We don't need MacDonald tho.</div></div>
Granlund has another year which would be a major selling point to the Avs who are pretty cap strapped. Having a solid 2nd line C / very good 3rd line C locked in at 3 mil for another year I feel would be very enticing for COL. I'd be happy to take RyJo back and add a 3rd going to the Sharks with conditions to upgrade if COL makes the WCFs.
Also, I think MacDonald is one of, if not THE most underrated players on the Sharks. He can literally slot in on Defense or Wing and be a very reliable player on both sides of the puck. He's crazy versatile and I could see him being a great depth add for a contender
