Kane would be sick, and the value is not bad, but that would screw up our cap situation majorly.

The value is pretty even, but we have enough middle 6 forwards so it doesn't make sense to get Kapanen. Also, no chance we trade Gaudette.
NYR trade makes no sense for the rangers though.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tmclean64</b></div><div>No chance.. Who is replacing Stechers minutes on Vancouvers blueline? That trade does not adress Vancouvers needs at all, a team that has too many wingers as it is.
Gaudette has taken his game to another level this season. 13 pts in 19 Games to start the year. Stecher has shown again he can play top 4 minutes of late.
The value is not close in my opinion. 2nd round pick is at least 3 years away from making any impact and doesnt help Vancouver.</div></div>
Stetcher is bottom pairing for us and only plays around 15 minutes a game.

Habs fans- what do you think of a Joulevi deal
This does not make a whole lot of sense. Both are at their lowest values ever because of injuries but I believe Juolevi has much more potential. Before he was injured he had 13 point in 18 games in the ahl and looked really good. Juulsen may have the upperhand with nhl experience but im not ready to give up on juolevi.

Does this get Quinn
Love Hall and Mcleod as players, but we don't need more centers, neither would a player in his prime as a rental, who probably won't resign with us, be as useful to us as a young dman.
A trade for Quinn in my idea would shape around Ty Smith and Jesper Bratt coming the other way,
Thoughts on Quinn + Eriksson+ rights to Goldobin for Smith + Bratt + 1st

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drewjenks</b></div><div>Julolevi and Woo have don't nothing to show their top-6 worthy yet ... aside from being high draft picks ... you can't just slot them in before they become NHL regulars.
That would be as ludicrous as slotting <strong>Liljegren </strong>+ <strong>Sandin </strong>+ <strong>Hollowell </strong>into the Leafs top 4 and saying Rielly + Muzzin + Dermott are expendable.</div></div>
It only makes sense to assume they would progress as most prospects would. Even if Juolevi and Woo become nothing, Edler would be 35, slowing down and replaceable for less thean 5 million while Tanev's injury problems would make any gm look for someone else.

TOR Trade
Considering how injured tanev gets, trading is probably a good move. I don't mind Ceci, but we would get more use out of a pick as well rather than Bracco who would just be another average scoring winger.
Maybe a 4th + 5th + Ceci for Tanev.

CAP TRUBZ IN BLANDCOUVER
Demko should be ready for the starter job in 2 year, and if not hes not making that much. Unless Goldobin puts up 40-50 points, he will make closer to 2 million. Edler and Tanev won't be resigned since younger players like Juolevi, and Woo will be ready for the top 6. Pearson and Leivo won't be signed to make space for players like Madden, Lockwood, Podkolzkin, Hoglander and Lind.

You can't get rid of Jack Johnson's contract that easy. Anaheim wouldn't want to give up young guys as their team is so old. As well they don't need a goalie prospect. Vegas is trying to win now, so Tuch (who has a very good contract) is more useful to them than a prospect and a pick.

Vancouver says no. We like the pick, but Ceci is overpaid, and we don't need more forwards, we need to get rid of forwards. Also, Stetcher is a hometown boy and underrated because of his size.

And all the other guys you mentioned, the bottom 6 players that aren't showing as anything other than bubble players is the problem in vancouvers. You just don't have the depth and you haven't developed well and moves like every FA move Benning has made, is keep the team just good enough to not be bad enough to get the ride base for the team. They just don't have enough elite players.</div></div>
A 60 point center who took the most faceoffs in the league (many probably in the defensive zone) is not a 3rd line center. He had no good wingers around him and still produced.

Betting against success
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>St Louis winning the cup is going to be a disaster for so many teams.
1) St Louis has been a team that under performed for a long time its not a surprise. They were supposed to be one of the better teams in the west.
2) The whole west was a crap shoot this year. No one was really that strong.
3) Injuries and an off year by the Pens took out two favourites for the cup in the first round leading under dogs to over perform
It was a weird playoffs that saw a team everyone had written off beat a team in a great series. It could have gone either way in the final.
Now why its the worst thing for many GM's, because some dummies will think, all we need to do is get there, so lets do whatever we need to, to become a playoff team and then we can win the cup.
In reality, you need a great team to win the cup and there are only a handful of great teams in the NHL. Vancouver has some pieces but they are jumping the gun, Petterson isn't enough. Compare the Canucks to other top teams and they don't compare well, their defence is old and not great offensively (Hughes not withstanding), their depth is weak and they won't score enough outside of their top 2 lines. They need to draft and develop better and just didn't do that and instead are going to be okay but probably not good enough. Just like Edmonton.</div></div>
I don't think they are jumping the gun. I do not think we need to just make the playoffs to win the cup. We were affected with injuries all season and were only 10 points out of the playoffs. If Markstrom can keep playing like he did last year we have a great goalie who can steal games for us. We have a top six that maybe isn't as good as Vegas or Tampa but it can put up points and be viable in the league. In professional sports, you don't just draft and develop for 10 years doing nothing. While the Canucks won't win the cup this year, showing that they can contend and make the playoffs is good for the organization. No one wants to watch a team suck for 10 years in a row. For the next 3-4 youth will keep being injected in this lineup to beef up depth scoring. Players like Virtanen, Gaudette, Madden, Hoglander and Lind can all potentially add scoring in the coming years.
You talk about how you need a great team to win the cup. Canucks have the foundational pieces in Pettersson, Horvat, Boeser, Hughes and Demko to build around. If you truly want better players to make them a "top team" you need to be able to attract top free agents aswell. If we added say Panarin, Pavelski or Lee would we be a "top team". The point is you can't just rebuild for 10 years and expect your team to instantly become amazing after that. Slowly a team will improve by building around it's core players and that's what this team is doing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>The only good thing he's done is hit on Petterson and Boeser, pretty much everything else he's done has been really bad. Eriksson, Beagle, (all the 4th liners he's signed to 3 or more year terms) Myers is a joke of a signing, and Miller is okay but he's a secondary piece and they want him to be a star. Benning is just bumbling around aimlessly. He's rebuilding but not rebuilding and is ready to compete but has so many holes that he's plugging with big money FA's who are overrated.</div></div>
Yes we can agree that Eriksson and Beagle weren't the best contracts. The one thing I hate is fans who think they know everything and are going to write off people like Myers before they have even played a game. This team has been rebuilding for 3-4 years already. We have young core that is continuing to get better. Adding a 60 point guy and a 6'8 defenceman who can do a bit of everything is going to really benefit us. Petey, Quinn, and Horvat are strong enough to rally the team towards the playoffs and as we saw this playoffs Pure skill isin't everything.

What was wrong with his moves recently.
Yes maybe giving up the first wasn't amazing, but everyone is writing off Myers and Millers as useless players. Both players will make a huge impact next year.
