(WSH/NJD) - Siegenthaler for 3rd round pick
A guaranteed 3rd round pick for a former 2nd round pick who still has the potential to be an adequate replacement for the defencemen on New Jersey's left side that will soon be departing.
Siegenthaler goes to a team that actually wants him on the premise he can be a good, serviceable LD down the stretch and into next season.
The price for him was neither a cheap bargain nor outlandishly expensive by any stretch of the imagination.
I voted fair deal :)

Washington declines ... Amirov had an average at best year in the KHL and scored 0 points in 9 playoffs games. Capitals would need more or a better player like Robertson + to get Vrana. you got 15oa and a prospect for Kappy and Vrana is a better player...

I imagine Newhook would be the 3C. Mercer is likely gonna be on the right wing on either the 3rd or 4th line. I would like the bottom 6 to be Perfetti-Newhook-Quinn Pelletier-Krebs-Mercer or something, with that 4th line as a dedicated shutdown line.

I think his realistic ceiling is bottom pair NHL. The odds of a 24 y.o. becoming a $4.5M D are extremely slim, especially w/ no offensive upside.

Caps are loaded up front. I'm not a big fan of the bottom 6. Carlson is a beast, Dillon is decent, Orlov is average but after that?? It's tough.Ovechkin is not gonna score 18 goals in 60 games. He's going to score more. As a penguin fan, I hate Wilson to the core. Can't stand him at all. But he's a impact player for Washington. He makes big hits happen in a big game when needed I guess. I think the Caps are just like the Penguins but a year late. This is a huge year for the Capitals. If they don't win this year, then there will be tough decisions made for sure Imo. Oshie will probably be gone. Couple other guys too. We've seen it with PGH. Fleury, Kessel, Hagelin, Hornqvist, Murray, and Schultz are gone. Others as well. Core ages after winning. Just the way it goes.

Your 1st line isn’t like your starting line. Your top 6 forwards are. Sometimes your second line takes the opening face-off. Just cause Geno Malkin is on the 2nd line does it make Kapanen who is on the 1st line better?? Just like Hertl being on SJS 2nd line. Top 6 forwards all play about the same number of minutes. A 2nd line forward could be on the 1st PP unit and a 1st line forward could not be.</div></div>
