I mean you have Slavin don't you? One of the best defensive defenders in the league? Plus Pesce is going to be traded if he doesn't sign an extension come July 1st. Why do you think they acquired DeAngelo? Would you rather get a prospect who may or may not crack your top 4 in the future along with picks? Or would you rather try to address one of your needs which is scoring?

This would be an all in move, assuming that Schmid could take the reigns and they let Hellybuyk walk. Also, I think Tofolli is a 1 year add with how stacked their right side is. Mercer is playing on the 3rd line here lol.

I just assumed that's what NJ was going or when they acquired Toffoli. In the near future they will need to extend Mercer and Hughes which will at upa bunch of their cap. While they have the cap space, I say they should at least make a run for it. They could be the best team in the Metro if not the entire eastern conference next year if they acquired a star goalie.

Nylander will come in at 9, or at least that is what his ask is. He will probably get that with Meier getting 8.8.

Liljgren is a solid young defenceman, and the whole point of this trade is that Nylander > Necas, but Pesce is > Liljgren. However, the two players that are worse (Necas and Liljgren), are younger and will be easier to re-sign. This trade works for both teams if you actually think about it. If Liljgren was just as good as Pesce, then the Leafs would never offer this deal. Its called a hockey trade. Sometimes you need to trade your strengths to address your weaknesses.

Why does everyone want to trade Timmins all of a sudden. He was a great defenceman last year, just didn't really get a chance to show it due to a stacked blueline.

Timmins is good. Just didn't see a lot of playing time due to the depth we had on D. I think he gets a much better look this season.

Marner would cost you one of Kyrou, Thomas, or Buchnevich. You need centres anyways, so trading Schenn doesn't make a lot of sense for you.

I know it is unlikely Thomas is moved, so that leaves Kyrou and Buch. If it is Buch, the blues add. If it is Kyrou, it is likely closer to a 1 for 1 deal as although Marner is the superior player, Kyrou has term.

Attitude has got to change. I'd actually be okay with adding Miller if that wasn't an issue. However, not for Nylander. More likely prospects, young players, and/or draft picks

Simmonds is going to retire, Bunting wont sign for that, Kessel definitely does not want to come back to play on the 4th line, and Samsonov will be around 3.5 million.

McMann and Robertson will be off LTIR next season.

Murray trade is fine if the Sharks would do it.

Newhook is only 22 and still has the potential to be an excellent top 6 forward. Colorado sort of rushed him to it last year which probably hurt his development. It will take more than Lafferty and an AHL goalie to get him.

If we are trading Marner I expect a #1 right shot defenceman. Calgary would need to give us Andersson. Hanafin is good, don't get me wrong, but we already have McCabe, Rielly, Gio, and even Brodie (who can play left or right) as our left shots for next year.

I want someone to play with Rielly. He deserves the proper defence partner.

And yes, it does raise his value. Would you rather have McDavid for 1 year, or get him to extend for another 8.

Hence why I said Matthews must agree to an extension in Arizona BEFORE this trade is made.
