Right... I forgot experience is worth nothing to the new generations because it's equated with the attack on boomers.
Life hint: experience is worth more than anything else.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ecupirate07</b></div><div>his xG is 18 right now. I would be more willing to be that he regresses in the future than maintaining this pace based on his shooting percentage and expected rates. With that it probably isnt worth the high AAV and assets.</div></div>
Again, you're missing the point that he shoots above his expected goals all the time BECAUSE he is an ELITE finisher. I understand your concern because looking at the advanced stats it looks like he's overperforming/getting lucky bounces. I assure you, he is a statistical outlier in the advanced stats category.
Absolutely understandable what you're saying, I have just watched him for 10 years and have witnessed him develop.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ecupirate07</b></div><div>his shooting percentage is 8% higher than his career and 6% higher than last season. He has a +12 in goals over xGs. Im not counting on him maintaining that pace or pay him like it. Look at a guy like Duchene. Almost similar numbers across 2 seasons. Even had a 21% shooting percentage in Ottawa, gets traded to Columbus and his shooting percentage cut by more than half. And he hasnt returned.</div></div>
Yeah, his shooting percentage is that much higher this year but even if it rescinds to what it was for the previous 2 seasons he will still score +30 goals. I don't think you're appreciating his development as a player into a bumper PP specialist and an excellent finisher by either shooting or redirecting pucks.
A 30-goal center is a 1st line center on MOST teams. Perhaps not a contending team but he's definitely better than the 2C label that's thrown at him.

It is a very very strong draft this year. Meaning you are at least 3/4 years out.</div></div>
As I said "whether that's wishful thinking or not is beside the point" I personally think it's a stupid plan - but that's what they've stated, that's what ownership has done its entire existence, can't see it changing.

Canucks decline. Drury isn't a high-quality enough prospect to be the only player included in the deal - they management wants to retool, correct or not, that's their goal.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ecupirate07</b></div><div>horvat is no. that guy is going to get paid like a top 10 center but his scoring is likely to come crashing down 2C levels.</div></div>
His shooting percentage is actually quite high even in past seasons, he's a really good finisher - he'll maintain a 30-35 goal pace for the next 4-5 years. He's maintained 30+ for the last 3 years already.

Trade Deadline wish list ALL IN
Canucks decline. They want to retool and hope to be in competition by 2023 - whether that's wishful thinking or not is beside the point: a 2023 draft pick may help them by 2026, a 2024 almost certainly won't

Schenn will get more than a 4th - 3rd most likely, 2nd if a bidding war starts because he's cheap with a Stanley Cup pedigree.

Horvat and Schenn
Morrow is non-negotiable for any trade involving Carolina and Vancouver. I've heard Canes fans say that makes it not possible - but it remains the piece the Canucks would covet and they won't do a deal without it.

Agree with the premise - but if Carolina wants Horvat and plans to keep him long-term Morrow and a 1st are non-negotiable parts of the deal.

Canucks pass - we have no need for a mobile 5'11 RHD nor a bottom-six winger prospect and an AHL center.
Replace one of Gunler and Heimosalmi - and Suzuki - with Morrow and we can talk. You're not getting Horvat without an A-tier prospect coming our way.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shakabakes</b></div><div>Now you know have Ranger fans feel when we get Rathbone or Hoglander tossed to us.</div></div>
Hoglander is actually worth something though as he's still only 22. He will definitely be a middle-six winger in the league by 25 - he also has a defensive upside due to his work ethic in puck retrieval.
Agree with Rathbone and the overall premise of Canuck fans overvaluing our prospects.

That VAN-TOR trade makes zero sense. Puts the Canucks further over the cap... and does nothing but acquire us more below-average bottom six forwards and a soft top 6 center. We already have those.

Canucks also say "no" because they don't need small offensive defencemen - regardless of what hand they shoot with.
It's Schneider or no deal for New York - which is why we haven't seen a deal yet.

Schneider, 2024 1st, 2022 4th?
I don't think you guys will part with the 2023 1st, nor should you as it's a deep class.
