Chicago is thin on the right side and Murphy is part of their leadership core. I highly doubt he's on the market because his value to the rebuild far outweighs his value on the open market. I think it takes a massive overpayment to acquire him without retention. With retention costs even more.

Reichel is struggling this season sure, but he is also 21 and barely played at all in the NHL, he looked great during his short stint last year. Give the kid some time. I would imagine kings fans feel the same way, but there is a lot more pressure for them to succeed now so I could see them making a move.

Also LD are the last thing this team needs. I don't care if he plays the right side sometimes, he's still left-handed. He has value to the right team. Chicago isn't the right team.

The hawks would still pay half his contract. THAT IS NOT SAVING MONEY. That is spending money. This deal adds 2mil to their cap per season it does not subtract 2 mil. If you cannot wrap your head around that I do not know what to tell you.

And as for the Nurse + McDavid vs Jones + Bedard comparison, the critical difference is Nurse is only 2 years older than McDavid, while Jones is 11 years older than Bedard, along with everything else I just mentioned. So, I'm giving you specific information to explain why Jones does not fit your window of contention, and why the sooner you sell on him the better off you'll be.

Did you honestly think your rebuild was over once you drafted Bedard, after shipping out almost every piece of value on your team? If so, you'll have to learn at your own pace.
