San Jose Sharks signed Nikolai Knyzhov (2 Years / $1,250,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CSStrowbridge</b></div><div>They only got their 20th win of the season just two days ago. They are almost guaranteed to have the fewest wins this season.
He hasn't proven himself to be anything more than a fringe NHL defencemen. You can get half-a-dozen of these in the off season for league min.
The Canucks have signed two of them late this season alone.</div></div>
Wow... you really don't know much about the Sharks. For one Historically referring to one year or even 2-3 years is a silly way to say that. The Sharks "Historically" are good. They have made the playoffs and been a very good team for a majority of the last 20 years. Yes they are the worst team or close to it this year. Now back to the matter at hand. Knyzhov has not played professional hockey for nearly 2 years and this year he played in the AHL for a bit, got a few games up top and went back down now to really get more playing time. He was averaging about 18-20 minutes per game in the last stretch of 2020-2021 season. He then was injured badly and then had several major setbacks during recovery that kept him out of hockey until just a few months ago. He is probably a 5th/6th D-man, but at 1.25m that's a good price and considering the buried cap hit next year is $1,150,000 it only cost the shards $100k to keep him in the AHL if he doesn't continue to get back to what he was doing pre-injury.

Seattle Trade Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NoVaSpartan</b></div><div>I mean, if Seattle's offering, I see no reason to even consider declining this from Washington's perspective. However, if I'm Seattle, I'd probably hold out for better offers on Soucy than dealing him and a young/cheap defenseman for a 3C.</div></div>
The move here is to offload cap space to allow for Karlsson to join and also adds a nice piece to bolster faceoffs (somewhere the Kraken need help on) and somebody I think is better then Wennberg which is who he would replace in the lineup with this fantasy.

Seattle Trade Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>poeticentropy</b></div><div>I don't think SEA does this. I see Ron Francis being more conservative with a new franchise. He's going to hold on to his assets. This is more something Vegas would do.
Would be absolutely nuts to see Karlsson move without any retention involved.</div></div>
I don't disagree. I'm a Sharks/Kraken fan and I like both sides of this, but it was mostly me dreaming. I do think he is mostly saving for the future, but at the same time this still keeps 2 2nd round picks this year and leaves Jacob Melanson, Tucker Robertson, Kyle Jackson, Ty Nelson, and David Goyette in the pipeline. With some youngish guys like McCormick there for depth. I really think their pipeline is already looking pretty good and sacrificing a little bit now for this I don't think hurts the future. They do need to re-sign Dunn in the offseason, but beyond that they only really need to sign one of Donato, Geekie, or Sprong in my opinion as they have guys like Mccormick and Lind ready to join in. They also have Wright next year which means they just use Eller as a playoff rental, and honestly cap looks good for the next few years with all the youth coming in. I don't know that's my thinking.

(CHI/SJS/VGK) - Janmark for DeSimone for picks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>San Jose Sharks:
Traded away a player that should have no trade value and who you might as well place on waivers.
Got a 5th round pick for retaining 562K in salary when the Leafs got a 5th round pick for retaining 1.1 million on Lehner.
A win for San Jose.
Chicago Blackhawks:
Janmark is underated and Chicago's return is not as good compared to what New York or Detroit got at the time for Zuccarello or Nyquist.
The picks going to Chicago can't upgrade based on any conditions.
Now, you're probably thinking Janmark is not like Zucc or Nyquist, which is true.
However, centres are more important than wingers because they make plays, take faceoffs and can score points too, among other reasons.
Championship teams are more often built around their centres than around their wingers.
Chicago also spends a 5th round pick unnecessarily and retain over a million in salary.
A loss for Chicago.
Vegas Golden Knights:
Janmark's performance and production will take off, now that he's on a better team.
An underrated player who can play either on the wing or at centre, he can also play top six minutes and produce points at a good rate.
Vegas gets a 5th round pick on top.
And Janmark is brought in at a cap hit of only 562K and it only cost a 2nd and 3rd.
Wow!
Big win for Vegas!
In Vegas we trust!
I voted for the Vegas Golden Knights.</div></div>
I've seen you post multiple times now... Lehner hasn't been traded he is still with Vegas... Dubnyk was traded, but the the sharks didn't retain any salary. But yes still a win for san jose all the trades they have done are basically cap or players who weren't going to be worth anything for picks so win all around, but not Lehner.
