Dumo is on the pens best contract and is the best defensiveman....why would you trade him, let alone for that?

The Letang contract was the worst IMO. Paying a guy 7.25 mil who didn't even play, and still won the 2nd cup.

When they signed Letang to that contract, I hated it...thought it was too much for too long for a guy who couldn't and can't stay healthy. At 7+ mill I still think it's too steep. The Malkin contract is ok, not great...At 9.5 mil, it's not like it's huge value or anything. He and Malkin come up at the same time after 3 seasons too...Murray's contract was good, but he's up at the end of the year.

he has value, he's just on a bad contract....but then again, most of the pens players not named Crosby/Dumo/Guentzel are it seems.

pretty sure he has a full no trade clause through the 20-21 season before it turns into a limited no trade clause....unfortunately, i don't think he is going anywhere...but I agree he needs to go

Letang
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensfan89</b></div><div>Yeah but if DeSmith and Jarry are your goalies, expect to be in the running for Lafrenier</div></div>
I don't think DeSmith is much of a step back from Murray at this point....Murray is good, don't get me wrong, but he isn't THAT good. He has zero glove and the book is out on him..sure he played well in the 2nd half of the year, but unless he can prove that he is the same goalie for an entire season, I'm not yet sold on him. I was not a MAF fan-boy either, thought that was the right move...but Murray hasn't shown me yet that he is a true lock down all star caliber goalie.
My other thought, is just make the move and put Letang on the wing LOL! It's not that crazy of an idea, and he basically played wing in the playoffs...except now, he wouldn't have to rush to try to get back into position.

While it wouldn’t be impossible I don’t think POJ is likely to be ready this season. Like the second trade a lot. Not sure why trading rust is worth it when you don’t need the cap space. I like your line combos but I’d suggest blueger at C, ZAR has never played a shift at C in the NHl</div></div>
I actually prefer Dumo-Schultz to Dumo-Tanger....

don't think your scenerio gets its done at all, pens are cap strapped, already over, and you are adding $$ to their current cap. stone and frolik get you gudbranson and hornqvist, not rust. that is if hornqvist would even waive to go to calgary. calgary has cap room...

2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jimmmyg</b></div><div>That would be great because Bjugstad can play RW too, but Nashville would be be gaining $4.3M in cap and idk if they can do that. I am sure there are some teams that would love Horny, but only a few that can afford it. I can see ANA & MON wanting someone like him, but it would either have to be retained or have money coming back. Horny also has a NTC so it makes it more of an obstacle. I actually think he will have a really good year this year. He looked great in IIHF this summer and he was doing well before he went down with his 2 injuries. Just getting older and he costs a lot, especially if Guentzel is going to take over his spot on PP1</div></div>
I could see him waiving for Nashville, he loved playing there...Preds have too many centers as it is, I personally think its a good fit for both team. Minus the JMFJ part....as it stands right now, the preds have 5 mil in caps space...even if we cant dump JMFJ to them, I'd be down for a Hornq/Bones deal straight up. That at least gives us some wiggle room to sign MP.

2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jimmmyg</b></div><div>I think we will see one more trade to open some cap, whether that be Rust or Johnson to go. I will be furious if they let Rust go before Johnson. I can see someone taking a flyer on JJ, though. There are plenty of stupid GMs that overvalue veteran presence on the blue line. JJ leaving gives them the opportunity to sign all RFAs, which I think would be pretty close to what you signed them for. I think Blueger gets 2 years, Zar gets 1 year, and Pettersson gets 4+ (if they are smart). Tanev will be a good pick up and I think will help our 4th line, it was just wild to give him 6 years with a modified NTC. Only thing I really disagree with you is the lines. Can't have Kahun and Simon playing 8 minutes a game. This is how I think they will pan out:
McCann-Crosby-Guentzel
Galchenyuk-Malkin-Kahun
Simon-Bjugstad-Hornqvist
ZAR-Bluger-Tanev
The Penguins actually have quite a bit of pieces they can move this year, which is a good thing and a scary thing if GMJR gets impatient.</div></div>
Would much rather see Hornqvist traded than Rust....wont happen, but I'd try to send Hornq, JMFJ, and a pick to Nashville for Bones

no not typically....but if they struggle to sign him, they might have no choice. they have to sign rantanen, but they do have 27 mil in cap space...rantanen will no doubt get them to the floor, but rust imo is an upgrade for them over burky and he is already signed.

Don't disagree about the cap dumps....that is really what is necessary however. OTT might need to take on some cap, so they could be an option. Dzingel would be a great fit, and 4.5 might be too high after how he played with the BJ's, but he will likely fetch around 3.5-4.5 IMO. No idea what Myers will get though....
