lol I'd rather give up one of him or Joseph Woll than giving away a Bracco/Rosen/Moore/Petan/SDA. We're going to need those guys to fill out the bottom of our roster for cheap, whereas between Andersen/Sparks and Woll or Scott, I think our goalie situation will be stable for the foreseeable future

WOW, that is amazing.</div></div>
Thank you, honestly I've only started deep diving into contracts AAVs after the Nylander contract was announced, but I originally thought between 6.3 AAV and 6.8 AAV was fair for Nylander. After looking into in further though, it's not a bad contract, the league is changing a lot and 9.196 % of the cap like I calculated above isn't far off from the league standard for players of his caliber . Gaudreau was 9.25 %, Pastrnak was 8.89, for reference

I think this actually clears up the cap issue, we don't resign Gardiner but we get a replacement of the same quality if not better for just 4 mil. Then Marleau comes off the books and we actually have a shot at resigning Muzzin

Marner is worth less than you think
Great AGM. Totally agree, between 8 - 9 AAV is fair for both player and team.
Even if you use an internal comparable in Nylander.
Nylander -> 135PTS - 185GP = 0.73 pts/g
Marner -> 191PTS - 207GP = 0.92 pts/g
If we want the pts per game ratio to million dollar aav - 0.73/ 6.962 = 0.105
0.92/ Marner AAV = 0.105 --- Magic of Algebra --> Marner AVV = 8.76 Mil AAV

Leafs 2019-20 what I think will happen
I agree with the 6 year contracts, I think it will be a trend in the league, players will bet on themselves and go for a mega 3rd contract.
Matthews 11 x 6 is 66 million - 13.25 % of the cap
Marner 9 x 6 is 54 million - 10.84 % of the cap
Assuming the cap continues to grow by about 3 million per year the cap will be 101 million when their deals are done. They will probably sign for more percentage of the cap too because it will be ufa years at that point and their stock will also probably go up, but even if they sign at the same percentages, their next contracts could be
Matthews 13.4 x 8 is 107 million
Marner 11 x 8 is 88 million
And thats just the low side of the spectrum, if they both go up 2% of the cap it could be 15.15 x 8 for Matthews and 13.13 x 8 for Marner. They'd finish these contracts at 35 and life would be grand. 6 years is the perfect in between for having financial certainty but also betting on yourself for an even bigger 3rd contract when you are 27 in your prime

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>If you think Rosen and Ozhiganov are NHLer....you've paid them less than they make now...they could walk as UFAs. Moore has played more at LW than centre. The defence is weaker than this year and two iffy NHL forwards, all to just in to squeeze in under the cap. I gotta think an expensive forward is traded</div></div>

Rosen is making 70 grand a year right now... I think Rosen would take this, Ozhiganov is worth a little more, around 1.5

My new lines with Leivo gone
Looks good.
Smart trade, making sure we don't loose an asset for no reason. Leivo probably was the only player that could have fetched anything in a trade. Holl and Marincin would get nothing in a trade but we would have risked losing them on waivers.
Was really starting to like Leivo but I understand the trade
