Not convinced on Tre yet either, but it's nice to see he doesn't mortgage the future to fix his own mistakes.

I mean I'm not saying Dubas was a great GM or anything, but this signing was all Shanny. Dubas had just become GM and Shanny led the charge for JT. At least criticize him for something he actually did, there's lots to choose from.

Laughton and Seeler
Have any of you that are trying to trade Nicky Bobby for pending UFA's actually watched him play?? Laughton and Seeler for a 1st is more likely. The more I watch this kid, the more I hope he doesn't get traded for rentals and lesser players.

Come On Mitchy Waive Ya Pigeon
Pipe dream. Regardless of what you may think of Mitch, trade him or not, he holds all the cards. I personally think the Leafs are a better team with him than without (salary aside).
He's going to go to the end of his contract and negotiate. If he thinks he's worth more than 11.5, let him walk.

Thoughts On This Highly Unlikely Trade That I Would Love
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DougieGilmour</b></div><div>Do you want to pay Nylander Marner money? Because I say no to that. And a lot of goalies have looked great in a hand full of starts. I don’t trust a goalie until I see them put it together for more than a full season.</div></div>
At this point I'd rather pay Nylander current Marner money for 8 yrs than pay marner what he'll get in his next contract.

Based on Insights and Rumors
As it stands today, Sammy is no better than Skinner. EDM would be banking on him turning his game around. McMann for Desharnais straight up seems more in line with both team needs.

Kane and Nylander
maybe if Tre has a couple of BP sized pitchers of Molson before he sees this trade.
Value is terrible. Willy is a 30+ goal scorer in a bad year and seems to be around 70pts+ a year. All of the assets coming back are meh, granted I've never heard of the last guy.

boring but more likely
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Was going to say no one's giving up mid picks for bottom of the lineup players. Those guys are probably waiver candidates come start of season.</div></div>
The premise was less about getting value for Timmins and Laff, but rather subtracting their cap hits to become compliant. Whether that's through waivers or a trade, makes no difference at the end of the day. Should Tre go the trade route and find a taker, this is what I believe their value would be. More than likely I can see Laff being traded for a 3rd-5th and Timmins being waived.
I'm not inclined to move a guy like Jarnkrok as that could backfire. He's got a lot of value in the middle third of this lineup, where, Laff is mostly a 4th liner. Nylander isn't being traded this close to training camp. Makes little sense not just for the Leafs, but for the team trading for him. The price should be huge in order for the Leafs to move him.

My opening night roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsmustwin</b></div><div>Gambrell has a 1 way contract can't go to AHL so he would have to be waived. For me I put Holmberg up where Robertson is. Holmberg deserves more of a spot , he proved he is very reliable defensively and this roster needs a bit more of that. Letting Timmins walk on waiver would be a mistake.</div></div>
You are correct that Gambrell would require waivers. However, I hate to be that guy, but a 1 way contract doesn't mean anything regarding waivers. It just means he's paid the same in the NHL and AHL. Waiver eligibility is based on other things like age, nhl experience,...
:)

Any Leaf fan that says that isn't enough for Willy and Kinger has either never watched Dobson play or is just trolling. After AM's signing, I'd happily take this for Nylander and Klingberg.

Can his potential contract be considered attractive? I think not. Therefore, do not expect to get a lot for it. Also, Kuemper is better than Samsonov.</div></div>
Why would the Leafs trade for any of that? Backlund is a UFA next summer, Keumper will be 37 when his contract expires at an unnecessary 5.25AAV. a 2nd and 3rd doesn't do much to offset the obvious downgrade in skill between Backlund and Willy. I'd much rather keep both Sammy and Willy. I'm not convinced Willy is going to stay in TO, but this proposal is as bad, if not worse than most Leaf fan proposals.

EK Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>It’s pointless making deals with Toronto. They will always argue your players are garbage and their are worth the world. They still think teams will give them top dollar regardless of their cap issues.</div></div>
This can be said of any fanbase. Also, all of these EK trade proposals are fun, however, make no sense. They just signed Klingberg to top4 money and he is also a similar (albeit not on the same level) style to EK. Trading Willy just creates a bigger, harder to fill, hole on the right side. They have too many EK type defensemen and not enough defensively responsible ones.
I get the feeling the TO reports are stale news. I would gather, Tre checked in on what SJ's stance was on retention before signing Klingberg.

Just dropped 100pts and Norris winner. Won't come cheap even with his contract and NMC. SJ is not obliged to move him. If I'm Grier, I'm going to hold firm for fair value or he plays in SJ next year.
Lilly and a late 1st is a light offer.

Kinda logically that Brodie would not waive to a non playoff team which has the worse travel schedule in the league.</div></div>
I'm not sure how that's arrogant. All I assumed is free agents will want to sign with NHL teams. You are implying you have some insight into who is on his NT list. Either way I'm done arguing with you. Enjoy trolling peoples ACGM's :)

I based the trade on ARI needs combined with the fact no one knows who is on his no trade list. To pretend to know who is or isn't on his NT list is arrogant. He's got a year left and is still an effective everyday d man. He also would be better suited on the 3rd pairing on a contending team. Value wise, the trade makes sense to me.

Hence the condition on the second. It would make no sense otherwise. McBain would suck to lose, but ARI would be in a good spot in the bottom of the 1st to find a more suitable piece to replace him in a couple of years.

That's the trade off. Miller still has a good 3 years before that contract sucks and Vancouver would get a major upgrade, especially if he resigns. This shakes up both cores.
