<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tp47</b></div><div>Yeah the Kadri/Newhook situation was my #1 question I put in the description. Guess we'll see how well each of them play in the years before. I structured the Landy/Grub/Kadri/Nuke contracts like they all had no drop off (or further improved) over the next two seasons. Kadri would be 32 for the 22-23 season, so the contract is definitely on the high side. I think Nuke gets 2x1.5-2.5MM this offseason.

Think you missed LOC in your count - it's 12 players. And I believe Byram's contract would slide if he doesn't make the team this year, so that would make it 7-8 players to sign with $16-17MM. Still tight, but may be doable depending on ELCs. The big question is how much the cap will end up changing.</div></div>

I was just going off the count in the Long-Term Outlook tab under roster size but I guess if you move O'Connor to the roster, it helps ever so slightly. I know cap gets tight on contending teams once they have their core in place but I just can't see giving Kadri a raise at that age with Newhook coming in. They really do have to get as much as possible out of their high-end young guys to make all of this work because they've got their high-end roster players already here. Joe and the front office are going to need to earn every penny they're paid over the next 7-10 years if this team is to stay competitive. It makes you really respect what these guys have to do and how much they have to know and how much of a calculated risk they are willing to take to get to this level. I'd be stressed out all the time if I were in their shoes.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tp47</b></div><div>COL has a bit of logjam at RHD with Johnson, Barrie, Meloche, Timmins and Makar. I would expect Meloche to see some time this year, maybe Timmins (he's just now coming back from concussion/ankle issues after months off), and then Makar to sign his ELC after his college season. Not sure if it'll be Barrie getting moved or not. The arguments for trading him are 1) his value is high right now 2) he's a little older than the core group 3) have other offensive D in Girard and Makar 4) could lose him in free agency in 2 years. Moving him for a young winger could work out.

Don't forget about LAK signing Kovalchuk and VGK getting Pacioretty/Stastny.</div></div>

If Avs are shopping Barrie, it should be within this year, mainly because his price is high, as you wrote.

Haven't seen Meloche play unfortunately, but the logjam could be real if they aren't shopping him around and loose him to free agency. Especially if the kids, Timmins, Meloche, etc. are ready to play. Might as well kick in a trade and get a solid veteran forward and a high draft pick.

Girard was magnificent IMO last season and I truly believe he's going to be a stud this season.

Yeah, pretty excited to see how Kovy will get around in LA. Rumour says the guy is still capable of flying around a stickhandle the **** out of people and sniping top shelf.

Regarding to Pacioretty/Stastny, that's going to be exciting - If you haven't read this article yet, this is pure gold.

This should be fun to watch.
