23-24 Leafs
i actually think that a better top six would be:
Knies-Matthews-Nylander
Bertuzzi-Tavares-Marner
that first line would be flashy and fast while that second line is a repeat of the 2018-19 line of Hyman on the LW...except this time Bertuzzi is better
ryan reaves prob wouldnt play a full season so honestly depending on the matchups, u can switch between lafferty and reaves as the last forward

put nylander back to 9.5 and you would have enough cap space to have domi here again

Thoughts on this Leafs Lineup
i def could see a possibility of someone like holmberg or robertson being able to get some playing time thanks to this new lineup

Willy at C
nylander at C might be interesting cuz after all, he did originally start as a C
my question is where does tavares play cuz there's no way that he will decline drastic enough to be sheltered on the 3rd line. my guess is that it makes sense that tavares plays on 1LW or 2LW in a similar fashion of stamkos switching from C to LW too

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>I think Tavares signing wasn't the issue, but how Dubas managed the Marner situation and the lack of term on Matthews was</div></div>
funny how i was quite a dubas fan during his time but now looking at it retrospectively, he was quite a mid GM. he did make up his mistakes in his last two seasons but the first season bonkers cost too much.
(i rather not rage over thinking what if matthews signed for 8 x 9, marner 8 x 8, and nylander 8 x 7, plus the depth we would have with that cap space)

yea compared with this year's team, they're not better but there's just so much nostalgia looking back as we thought with tavares joining, we were going to the promised land (LOL not)

montreal and chicago are nowhere to be seen in this list LOL (although they would be last anyways)
dont join the PIT bandwagon just because they got karlsson, their core is still aging and there's at least 3 teams better than them objectively (NJD, CAR, NYR)

in no world will i sign matthews to a 3 year deal, it must be at least 6 yrs

regular season predictions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Carolina's blueline is WAY stronger, and Carolina's goaltending is better...</div></div>
agree with carolina's defense being the favourite but i rlly dont think goaltending is such a huge advantage over nj. you also have to remember that goalies like andersen would play well because that blue line on carolina is scary. goaltending is good but is more of a factor from carolina's superb depth on the blue line

regular season predictions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>I really can't see Boston making it unless they get a C. Zacha - Coyle - Geekie as your top 9 C is just terrible. They lost Bergeron, Krejci, Hall, Bertuzzi, Orlov, Foligno, Clifton and replaced with Geekie, Lucic, JVR, Shattenkirk? Woof. Can't win anything being awful down the middle. My mind changes considerably if they get a top line C though.</div></div>
imo their blue line and goaltending is good enough to squeeze into the playoffs but yea their C depth is very very questionable. they def aren't winning with zacha as the 1C

its honestly a wild card between nj and carolina for first but i like new jersey's top 9 more than carolina's so that edges out a bit
wouldn't disagree if u flip these two with carolina 1st and nj 2nd

tbf brodie was great for the regular season but clearly looked lost during the florida series. kinda hard to evaluate him tbh and i rather wait till trade deadline to decide whether he's good or not

Slavin Konecny Zadorov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Whose up at the end of the year, cannot drive his own line, and has star players around him that inflate totals... stop it
So he's not good because he's 29? God, Morgan Rielly better retire soon, since he and Slavin are from the same draft! Stop it. If you've ever watched Slavin, you know he's HANDS DOWN the best DFD in the NHL. It's not close, there's no competition or debate. You lost all credibility trying to argue this. Slavin gets Norris votes annually because of how good he is defensively, but he'll never win it because he doesn't score. Slavin is a top 5 D man in the NHL. Nylander doesn't come close to that sort of value</div></div>
we can argue all we want about slavin being underrated or nylander being underrated but long story short, slavin isnt going anywhere
he is carolina's top dman after all
