Also, Rielly has been struggling a lot defensively. He is elite offensively maybe, but he is a major defensive liability.

Anthanasiou doesn't have a great reputation, but maybe if he was gonna go for cheap.

Seattle Expansion question
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LeafsFanForSomeReason</b></div><div>In theory, yes, I think so, but Seattle obviously wouldn't select Hyman unless he signed a contract with them in the negotiation period. They'd just take another player.</div></div>
My ultimate point is that perhaps the Leafs should protect 8 skaters instead of 7F/3D so they can keep Holl.
Matthews
Marner
Tavares
Nylander
Rielly
Muzzin
Brodie
Holl
Hyman says he won't sign with Seattle and they don't pick him, or they do pick him and Hyman doesn't sign and Leafs sign him afterwards

Seattle Expansion question
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryancnbb</b></div><div>if a UFA is selected like Hyman, they still remain a UFA I think and Seattle wouldn't have their rights. That means that we can still sign them even if they are selected.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rooney</b></div><div>Seattle would hold there rights until the first day of Free Agency. This is 1 week after the Expansion Draft. Seattle would be able to negotiate a new contract before that happens and if they are unable to do so, that player would be a UFA and free to sign wherever.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LeafsFanForSomeReason</b></div><div>To the best of my knowledge, pending UFA's need to be protected to 100% guarantee they don't get taken; they are not exempt. Leading up to the expansion draft there is a short period of time where Seattle can negotiate with unprotected pending UFA's. If they can come to a contract agreement in that window, that player becomes their selection from that respective team, if not then obviously they wouldn't waste a pick on someone who's rights they are about to lose.</div></div>
So in theory, could the Leafs leave Hyman unprotected and if Seattle selected him Hyman could simply refuse to sign with them and then sign a deal with the Leafs again once free agency started?

Columbus Blue Jackets signed Pierre-Luc Dubois (2 Years / $5,000,000 AAV)
I'm surprised how many people like this deal.
Its good for the next 2 years I guess, but I think CLB missed out on a major opportunity to sign PLD to a long term deal at a more reasonable $ number than what he'll re-sign in 2 years for.
Its obvious he doesn't want to be there.

I think it makes perfect sense for both sides...
Nashville gets a good veteran forward that can play in that middle six and always jump up if needed. He can play centre if needed. 1 year. very little risk.
What team in the NHL was going to give Granlund 3.75??
The market is dry

There are barely any jobs left at this point and only a few teams have cap space or cash for that matter.
I think guys like Vatanen are going to be desperate.. Where else could he get a top 4 role on an NHL team right now?

I'd love to see the Rangers pick up a guy like Vatanen on a cheap 1 year deal to bolster up that left side.
Yes he isn't the best defender, but he can move the puck and he has some experience.
Right now that left side is a gapping weakness on what otherwise could be a great team.

I could see the Rangers trading for Armia 100%. (assuming they are a buyer)
I doubt they give up a roster player like Lemieux though.

No way 5.5m gets you 6 years of Sergachev....
Provorov and Morrissey are the closest comparables. 6.25-6.75 AAV
This is a great deal for the Lightning as they couldn't afford a long term deal

Fair. My thinking was the Rangers have a huge opportunity to win in 21/22.
Relying on Lindgren and Miller for top 4 roles is a bit risky for me. Would love to see them trade a pick + for a solid LHD.
