Think for the jets, they have an odd philosophy in trading. They pride themselves on being a draft and develop team, but in trades they prioritize getting a better young player piece and picks come second. Which goes totally against their “draft and develop” philosophy.

Issue is jets have a lot of middle 6 wingers. Heinola is waivers exempt so they likely keep him and send him down to the AHL. Could see him included in a 55/37 deal later in the year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Z0ra</b></div><div>I also wanted Lundell, he's very good all-around whereas Perfetti is just purely offensive. I don't hate the pick by any means though.
I really want someone like Lambert or Lucius to make the team this year. I see one of them making it, but no matter who does, they can play center.
Also very interested to see if Barlow even plays a preseason game. Even though I would have preferred Oliver Moore, I still don't hate the pick.
EDIT: Also Samberg signing that contract pretty much confirmed Heinola's days with this team are pretty much numbered. I wouldn't be surprised to see him traded this season.</div></div>
Yeah Heinola is unfortunately going to be sent to the AHL again due to being waivers exempt. He will request a trade this year. Same with Stanley if he’s not claimed off of waivers.
I preferred Oliver Moore as well but think Barlow will end up being quite good.
I doubt Lambert or Lucius make the team, jets have the deepest forward group they’ve had in years. Unless one of them magically explodes and takes a C spot, both will be back in the AHL.
Lundell was the better pick imo, but I like Perfetti and think he’ll turn out to be a very good 2LW.

Yeah I have doubts about Perfetti being able to handle it even without his injury troubles, he's small and slow, the IQ is there but the frame isn't, will be interesting to see how Lundell develops cause I remember saying "draft Lundell" when the Jets pick came up in 2020.
Did you hear Chipman's interview the other day?</div></div>
I wanted Lundell badly in 2020.
I didn’t hear Chipmans interview.

Two fringe centres in Perfetti and Vilardi that both have back issues. Neither will stick at C and jets will have the same hole at C they always seem to have an issue with.

Going to end up seeing a 3x9.75 extension for helly I think. Scheifele I think is traded at the TDL.

It’s likely jets maybe overpay on AAV but less term and he stays. No one will pay him the AAV winnipeg would.
Personally I think they need to just cut ties and move on, but I think there’s definitely going to be some owner interference on these two players.

Retool for sure. Can’t sustain a 6 year rebuild. But they can afford to suck for 2-3 years to get a high pick or two while trading valuable pieces for young players with potential.

They can afford to suck for a few years to get better in the long run. The issues start to come when they stay middling for another 5 years and apathy sets in.

They can try to simply move on, but they’d pretty much be running it back with a similar group.
Let’s just hope they are either very good, or very bad.
I think everyone around the league can see how this season likely plays out. Jets will start off hot, they’ll start to tail off around mid December, team will be a bubble playoff team come to e TDL. Chevy decides to add veteran pieces, and doesn’t move Helly or Scheif. Jets make the playoffs as a wildcard team and lose in 5 again. We watch two huge free agents walk in the summer for nothing.

Totally fair, just tried to find a team with a player who has similar cap hit, term and effectiveness. I figured since PIT is going after karlsson they could just get a Walmart version for free.

Next summer Dawson Mercer is due. Even at a bridge deal and resigning players for less they don't have the money to offer him anything near what he wants.
Basically, they would have to give up assets, and likely more than you mentioned just to have him for one year and then try and sign and trade him else where.</div></div>
Jets have to take vanecek back at least. I’m not sure why fans are scared of adding good players and having to make a move or two to make it work. Look at vegas lol. They added good players and made the money work and they won a cup doing it.
