Is there any appetite to trade Carlo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LPProductions</b></div><div>this^. Trading Carlo to fix some of the holes up front just creates a bigger hole on the backend. Carlo isn't Jesus Christ, but he plays a super important role on the Bruins that isn't getting replicated in the slightest by anyone if he's traded
Love me some Kuzmenko though</div></div>
The Carlo-sized hole would be huge

I still don’t understand why the Avs let this guy walk. Seems like a reasonable 13F option

I’d probably guess you could get more for Eberle retained than that unless he’s fallen off this season.

I’d say no matter what, we’d probably need to move on from Manson, so let’s just call that a wash.
Basically, you’d be trading Girard (a solid player in a 3/4D role) for RNH (a high end 2C). Girard would need to be replaced by someone who would likely be a downgrade. I’d argue that RNH is a larger upgrade over Johansen than Girard would be over whoever we’d get in free agency. There’s still risk, but RNH is real good.

Like <a href="/users/TJTwolf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@TJTwolf</a> said, this isn’t accurate.
That said: let’s say he was a replacement-level player. You said the Avs would need to retain 50% AND give up a 1st. When is the last time a team has spent a 1st round pick to cap dump $2M for a year? That’s absolutely crazy.

Whether from my eye test, simple statistical measures, or more in-depth analysis, Girard is genuinely bad at defense and gets exploited for it regularly while playing an easier role than Nurse has.
As for Lindstrom, he'd be at best a marginal upgrade on Desharnais and, even then, I'm not certain.</div></div>
I don’t agree on Girard. He’s just a different defenseman. Good at rush defense, but doesn’t play very physically and doesn’t clear the net front like the big body defensemen of the past. But he’s a solid defenseman. Not the answer to Edmonton’s problems, but still solid.

I don’t agree. RNH at $5.125M is such a sweet deal. I don’t like the age and the term, but that would lock down 2C for the rest of the cup window. I think Edmonton declines that pretty easily.

A 1st for Raddysh? Kinda wild. Also wild to compare it to the Jeannot trade: an absurd trade that nobody understood at the time that looks even worse in hindsight.

I can understand the Wings not particularly needing Johansen but that’s a very absurd return for a middle 6 C on an expiring deal. In what universe is Ryan Johansen at $2M worth a negative 1st?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowhawk18</b></div><div>Three years of Anderson at $5.5m per would be too costly for a rebuilding team like Montreal to move, they might as well just ride out the storm and hope he can find some level of past performance.
If not, then be prepared to offer up 2 x 1st round picks to dump that contract.</div></div>
It’s funny because Josh Anderson has been putting up numbers relatively consistent with his past performance.
His last seasons where he’s played a close to a full year:
22-23: 1.6 P/60
21-22: 1.6 P/60
20-21: 1.7 P/60
19-20: only played 26 games
18-19: 2.0 P/60
17-18: 1.6 P/60
Obviously a player like Anderson can’t be valued solely based on points, but that contract just looked bad as soon as it was signed.

I’d take that Manson trade.
With your UFA signings, I think DeAngelo is an awful fit. On a team with Makar/Toews/Byram/Girard as your top 4, your bottom pair needs to profile as a defensively responsible as you can. DeAngelo wouldn’t get any PP time and I’d rather any favorable offensive deployment go to one of the top 4 guys.
Kulikov on the other hand fits the bottom pair profile well. Avs would probably target a cheap vet that can PK and not get eaten alive defensively.
That 4th line would be so obnoxious lmao. If LOC isn’t even the biggest ****head on a line, other teams would hate it.

Giving up that much for a rental would suck but adding Lindholm to the top would add another level to this team.
At that type of return, you’d definitely need 50% retention and then I’m still on the fence tbh

I’d prefer to move on from Manson and keep Girard, who has looked solid this year.
It’s clear the coaching staff has a hierarchy and Manson is on the outside looking in. Hated that contract from day 1

Girard plays both sides. He’s also a better option than most of the guys Washington has on that side.
Regardless, this is a bad trade for Colorado imo
