Yeah. Not like we don't need quality wingers either, but at the end of the day I think Carlo leaves a bigger hole than Necas fills.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>I’ve seen a bunch of caps fans say they’d take KK on anywhere from giving a late pick for him to FC to getting a late pick for him. Agree he doesn’t have much value but sounds like there is interest around the league. Maybe they have to sweeten pot a bit but don’t think it’s unlikely somebody takes a shot at him. Canes could buy him out too or keep him another year and make a decision next year.</div></div>
Yea I dunno why Caps fans are doing that. We have Strome/McMichael/Lapierre/Dowd pretty much penciled in down the middle for opening night, and if there's anything the Caps should be trying to find, it's a top 6 guy that can score. Maybe if he only had a year or two left I'd be more open to taking a flyer on him and sliding McMichael to wing, But for a team that desperately needs scoring, taking on that contract for a guy who hovers around 15 goals a year ain't worth it

schmaltz deal is a no. he isnt a good enough caliber of player to trade necas for. add in schmaltz doesnt fix any of our issues. perimeter based, not great on defense, small, and not a FO guy.
TB aint retaining. no need for Jeannot either.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>So again, what’s Kadri’s value or what the right deal? I get he’s a better and more proven player, that much is obvious. Getting CGY out of the back half of the contract if that’s when they’ll be coming out of a mini rebuild was the main point since by then he likely won’t be the player he is was the point. Like I stated in the description, I have no idea how to value it so constructive feedback on trade value or counters would be helpful versus telling me things I already agree with and stated in description.
I’d be happy to pull FUS out but given there’s no inclination that they’re looking to move him it seems like the type of move we’d need to overpay on. Will be interested to see CGY fans chime in there.
Buying low is relative. If the team thinks last year was the fluke then that’s still buying low versus what Tampa paid to get him. But if a second and the rest of the swaps are too much I’d change it to a third straight up if Tampa would take it.</div></div>
I think Kadri's value is more in the camp of a trade that brings them futures. I would hate to see him go but that is the type of trade that Unger-Sorum or Drury + picks gets. Calgary needs to go rebuild route. So prospects and picks, high end prospect plus earlier round picks.
Yeah I am interested to see what Flames fans think. Man I'd love Andersson in the top 4.
I think a 3rd straight up would at least be considered.

youre bringing up 3rd assists to validate his lack of production, its worse than brining up posts and cross bars hit to say matthews could have had more goals

Only Necas trade that makes sense for both teams
That <strong>might</strong> make sense for the Jackets, but it doesn't for Carolina at all. Orlov is pretty highly valued over there, for good reason. And Necas-for-Laine would be turned down because the risk on Laine is greater - we're not going to trade him for anything short of a top-line near-PPG scoring winger package 'cause it makes no sense for us to do so, but that doesn't mean we can turn around and offer him and expect to get that.

Kadri has been one of our best players the last 2 years(not a high bar but still.) He is meeting my very high expectations, and has been very fun to watch, on the other hand I have seen so many posts dumping KK for a 1 or buying out his contract. Honestly? It seems like he likes it here, and we need his leadership(since Backlund isn't the best captain ATP) probably will take more than willing to pay to get him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>Idk, last year our PP was average all year and in the playoffs and we got past the second round before we lost. This year, yes it got cold for 3-4 games against the rags. Sucks but sometimes that’s what happens when you’re playing against good teams with great special teams and goaltending. Don’t think it’s a blow it up situation bc the larger sample size proves that it worked. And certainly don’t think Matheson makes a dent in that 4 game stretch, not bc he’s not a good player but bc there’s few players who would’ve made a difference on the pp in that stretch, and none of those guys are available unfortunately.</div></div>
Montreal fans claim that every single member of their PP is an elite PP weapon while running a bottom 5 PP in hockey over the last 2 years
Matheson and Dach, who provide close to nothing 5v5, are clearly elite on the PP.
But also Slaf, Newhook, Caufield, and Suzuki aren’t the problem.

I agree the Defense is kinda weak, but its kinda give or take at this point if you ask me. If they sign or trade for a solid Dman, its just gonna be taking away from the forward group.
Like if the Canes were to use that Kane money on Pesce, sure the Defence would be better, but then there is a fat hole on the Right Wing.</div></div>
Feel like they can and should make a move for a solid defenseman to replace Pesce on the second pair, bc yea that right side is pretty weak. No problem with Morrow getting time. Realistically, Burns isn't going anywhere and I love Chatfield, but I think an upgrade there could be made. Just scratch the Matheson pickup, there's no need for him and the Chatfield signing and reallocate that 7+ mil to getting someone better on the right side, and get a cheaper bottom pair LHD.

Necas Value
I think we need to be realistic. We paid a first and a second for Newhook's RFA rights last year and now you think we can somehow get Necas for less? Half the NHL wants him and a team is bound to overpay. The Barron, Matheson and first round trade actually makes sense imo. Even there the Hurricanes don't need those pieces and we don't have much they would be interested in that we would want to give them. I just don't think it's doable.
