<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leaffanio</b></div><div>rangers probably just bite the bullet and use assets to dump goodrow. either way i don't see the habs, or any team, doing an offer sheet and definitely no one will be giving laf that much money for that long. if anyones gonna offer sheet him it'd probably be that number on a 1 or 2 year deal</div></div>
I’d say 1x6.1 or in that ballpark would make things fun

Would EK69 still even make sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mvp13</b></div><div>I totally agree. Just since their name is still in the running, thought I'd take a stab.
I think it's too light without him considering what the other teams could offer, and the cap could be rough if he wants more with all their money in defense and the extensions they need on their forwards.
Of course, they easily re-sign him without Karlsson.</div></div>
There’s only one other team still in on ek and the pens can’t come close to an offer like that even without Necas. Pesce is worth a first and a top prospect plus what you already have. Pens don’t have much in terms of prospects and they also have to offload Petry and granlund somehow so there’s some extra negative value to take in to account.

I mean, they can make it work, but it doesn’t make sense. Main reason they’re bringing tda in is for PP and if they also bring EK in he wouldn’t get much if any time there.
Running a right side of burns ek and tda would be chaotic and unnecessary even with strong LDs supporting them.
The offer you’ve put for EK is a non starter either way though. GMDW is reportedly waiting on EK price to drop or he won’t make a move - he’s not going to overpay and include massive assets, especially Necas for EK, nor should he. Especially when the D corps is already top of the league and the forward group still needs some work. You’re just getting more redundant and expensive on the back end at the expense of your top 6 and futures which makes no sense.

Foegele isn’t of interest to canes and why did you trade turbo for futures leaving so much cap space? When I was reading through your acgm I thought you’d have another big trade or signing, feels incomplete and you’ve made the team worse.

what will happen
Canes would do this but doubt oil would. Seems like bad asset mgmt to lose Bouchard for a year of pesce. He could extend there but I would imagine he’d rather stay in the states on east coast and I think it would also be a tighter squeeze for oil to extend him long term for what he’s looking for.

2. I haven't really been following the EK65 scenario but if it falls through Kulak would be a great 3rd pair skating dman to add to the mix
3. CAR to me is such a fit, as he is very versatile, they have cap space and he is under contract. But that is as an Oilers fan looking from 30,000ft above</div></div>
Only thing I’d disagree with is #2. If ek deal falls through and they keep pesce then they don’t really have room unless another trade materializes. They’d have Slavin orlov Skjei burns pesce chatty at that point so would need to still move Skjei out for it to fit.

Would also leave us with 5ish to explore another top6/9 add either now or at TDL.

Three way Trade
Canes aren’t interested in 11.5 EK, would imagine he needs to get down to 7.5 for it to realistically work and make sense.
Especially when you’re adding in Granlund cap dump. Canes don’t consider this deal at all.

I like Kulak but as it stands now there’s not really a need or a spot for him. That could change though and this could work.
I don’t like having Skjei on the third pair so maybe this is a replacement after they move him and leverage those cap space and assets to address another position.

I’d argue they’ve already improved and likely have on more piece coming (EK for Pesce type swap or a top 6/9 add). Didn’t lose much of note while gaining bunting and orlov.

Karlsson-Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sharcuda22</b></div><div>This is what I struggled with because I think adding Nylander solves the canes biggest issue in the playoffs and makes them the favorite by a bit of a margin, but idk how much the canes would really give up for a rental(?). It feels like they are reaching a peak in their current iteration of the team and Willy could really put them over the top</div></div>
I think Nylander would be a good addition but I’m of the opinion that if the canes keep putting themselves in that top 5 contender mix, it’s gonna be more about getting hot and staying healthy for it to all click one year. Not going to say Nylander doesn’t help but also getting Svech back and hopefully having guys like Jarvis Necas kk continue to elevate their game gets them closer.
I just think hockey ends up being a bit of a crapshoot and there’s a lot of randomness so I’d rather keep the window open longer and get more shots at being a contender (by having elc stud youngsters continue to come up the ranks) versus paying a ton for “the missing piece”. That’s just my take and opinion though, I’m sure others would disagree and want to go all in.

Nikishin is less likely than morrow. I don’t think either are on the table in an EK trade (or nylander in this instance). Would have to be for a top 4 d with some team control otherwise they’d probably hold onto those guys.

Couple more changes
Value is probably ok but don’t see how this really helps canes (unless they’re flipping assets). Beau is redundant and doesn’t move needle based on canes structure and setup already. Rathbone probably doesn’t crack roster long term and def doesn’t short term. The first is nice but again unless they’re using it in a separate deal it doesn’t really make sense.

3rd rd prospect (Nikishin)
2nd rd prospect (Trikozov)
But now delete the “ very good prospect and multiple 1sts or 2nds”.
(1st, 2nd, Trikozov - GONE for retaining 5mil x 4 yr)
Pesce + Nikishin for EK65 4 yr x 5mil is what’s left.
^this still a massive overpay? For Christ sake, Pesce comes with 1 year term</div></div>
Canes just say no then. It’s too much to give up with the amount of risk tied to EK. He had a phenomenal season and is a game changer when healthy. The problem is the 3-4 years before last year he wasn’t healthy or very effective.
I completely understand the cost to retain long term is high. However the sharks don’t have a ton of leverage with only one other team reportedly still interested and the pens can’t come close to the canes in an offer. They’ve got to dump cap and they don’t have much in the way of blue chip prospects. So it becomes, does SJS want the best offer they’re gonna get? Or do they hold out if nobody is willing to give them this type of offer and just keep ek?
I’d imagine the best offer would be pesce (or a first and a prospect flip for him) + a very good, but not great prospect (most prospects avail outside of Nikishin morrow nadeau) + Philly second + another second with conditions to become a first. So that’s 1 first, 2 A-/B+ prospects, 2 seconds (with potential to become a first). If that’s not enough than just ride with pesce as our own rental.

I agree, just based off of some of the noise coming from around the team it sounds like they’re keeping options open to bring another top 9 piece and turbo is one of the guys they’re looking to offload if necessary.
It’s also not a very canes like move with this front office. They rarely sell low on guys and turbo is a good bounce back candidate - had some injuries and personal stuff last season and is in a contract year. I don’t think they realistically extend him until next summer, but I also don’t think they move him unless a clear upgrade is coming in.

They’d probably move one of them but I’d imagine to a different team. Depending on retention if they clear one of them that should free up enough space. Rumors about turbo being shopped are popping up too. Although I think that’s more so to move him to clear cap for Tara or another F via trade.
