Rangers pass. There are other 3C options available that won’t cost a first.

Center targets if Chytil done for year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vosse9</b></div><div>He’s lower on my list but I like his versatility and playoff experience. He's been as good as you could expect him to be on a basement team. Puts in a shift most nights, on pace for 20 goals, has probably played all 12 forward position at some point this season. He left the game with an injury last night in dallas but I'd assume he'll be back before the TDL. Maybe you could get him for a 4th+prospect without retention but if NYR wants him cheaper so they can add another player I dont think CHI burns a retention slot for less than a 3rd.

He has been consistent the last two seasons. Seems like a guy that would benefit from playing on a better roster. Also, I think he is over being part of a rebuild. Can't exactly blame him, either. He didn't sign up for this.

Henrique or Wennberg are probably your best options that won't cost arms and legs to acquire.

He'll basically sign his QO amount for the rest of the season. Ottawa will then worry about a long term contract in the offseason when they have more money.

Word is Rangers were looking to trade him. Apparently his play hasnt been very impressive and is being masked by a lot of secondary assists, that was just what I’ve seen from rumors though.

Stashing Nyquist for playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vosse9</b></div><div>I’ve tried to include Kravtsov to move his money off the books and make the trades work on the cap hits. Hajek will probably get thrown into some deal or they’ll finally waive him. Figured with Mikkola possibly moving he’d be good insurance for them</div></div>
I suppose there's a timeline where they bite the bullet and take Kravtsov (I swear I spell his name different every time), but they'd be much more amenable to taking Goat, one would assume. Hajek is everything wrong with the Blues D this season, I cannot envision a scenario where they agree to take him. They have 3-4 LDs in the AHL better than Hajek.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vosse9</b></div><div>What do you propose then?</div></div>
If you want Vova max retained and Barby, it'll be more like the 23 1st, a 23 2nd and Robertson (or some will say Korczak), and the Blues will take Blais back to further help with the cap. The other two are hard passes and a deferred pick isn't going to win the Barby race.

I like it. $5.5 mil isn’t bad for a 2C. Contract might be long, but I’d be willing to take the chance he could rebound with Panarin and either Kakko or Kravtsov imo.

Explaining every move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vosse9</b></div><div>Sounds like they may wait for the second window just in case they make a trade and need him to be compliant with expansion rules. I loved his edge too. Quinn mismanaged that whole thing from the start of the season. He took a stupid penalty for slamming the door but they had zero emotion that game and got ran over by the Isles in the season opener. Scratching him for two games was bull****. Quinn also didn’t give him much chance on the left side with Trouba. That’s where they need a vet this year. Faux outrage against him for his political views but that’s the world we live in. Hope he gets his career restarted somewhere else</div></div>
Agreed on all points…my gut tells me ALL the outrage against him is due to his political views- which he will not relent on…some of the outrage is claimed for him being a “bad guy” since his youth….but if there were so many problems with his character why would JG commit 9M over 2 years? A little more had to have happened between contract signing and his blackballing…maybe once he’s bought out we’ll find out a bit more..,but I do think for sure a team will get a real bargain with him and he will be a real good citizen while he tries to rub the Rangers’ nose in the “mistake” they made with him.
