- Addison is gone after this year.
- Dewar either re-signs for cheap or is replaced.
- Duhaime pull a Strum and won't resign so is traded.
- Yurov makes the team out of camp. Marat K and Ohgren are in the AHL or overseas to start next year.
- Another locker room/grit guy is acquired via trade.
- Milne makes the team as a 4th liner.</div></div>
Early guesses sure, but I don't feel like you're off base with anything there.
Solid argument for all of those. Milne is the only one I'm just not sure on. And I don't necessarily disagree, I just don't know enough to have an opinion. Only caught a handful of Iowa games, so I'll plead ignorance.
What do you think about my contracts for Hartman and Moose here? Think it's close-ish on both in terms of realism?

Can we talk about that Freddy deal yet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>He has scored 15+ goals once and over 40 points once.
He has scored more than 10 points twice and had more than 3 goals twice
He's 30</div></div>
He's also played more than 55 games only twice - the past two seasons with the Wild. He literally had 103 games in parts of 4 seasons under his belt before getting a shot with the Wild - I don't think using counting stat benchmarks for him works. It's also several years ago, on a different team, with a different coach, and with different usage (9ish minutes TOI with Nashville vs. 16+ with the Wild.) It's apples and something even more different than apples than oranges.
His most recent production is 158 GP over two seasons with the Wild, where he went 33-48-82. Over an 82 game pace, that averages out to a 17-25-42 line. I don't think calling him a 15-20 G/40pt guy is any sort of stretch when that's the production he's put up for the majority of his career to date.
The age is what it is. He's 30, he's gonna get $2.1M through his age-34 season. It's 3rd line money - hell, if the cap goes to $90M+ it's going to be 4th line money. Acting like he's a problem for a Wild team paying their 38 year old 7th D $2M (with a full NMC) or paying Marcus Johansson $2M for his age-33/34 seasons (with, you guessed it, a full NTC) just seems like picking nits.

Time to make some changes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div>He muffed a puck last game, but his hands are decent overall. Kap/Zucc and Boldy lines have both been better with Steel than without.
1 skill play a game, no more, no less Freddy G. Dewar has no o-zone skills except but decent speed, decent PKer. Hartman has a shot, but can't pass to save his life, and does stupid things. This is just picking the least bad of the bunch, and this year it's Steel. Steel needs to shoot more instead of trying to make that extra pass (a la Granny).
Any skill that is added to Boldy's line is immediately subtracted by adding the blackhole that is Rossi.
Boldy needs to be put with Greenway and JEE. There are a lot of wide open nets for Boldy to shank his shots on, rather than Foligno shanking his shots or not being a step too slow to get to the puck. The coach is too stubborn headed to try out different line combos when things aren't working.</div></div>
I’ve watched every game this season, some games twice…and every single game I notice how crappy Steel’s hands are! He can’t catch a pass that’s not perfect (can’t catch some perfect ones either), can’t stick handle in traffic to save his life, and is a horribly inaccurate passer! He is not an NHL player!
I hope you are wrong about Rossi! Time will tell…
I agree with most of your thoughts though…
I also believe that if Zuccarello didn’t share part of his brain with Kaprizov…he would be a very low end 2nd line wing! He is putrid in so many areas of the game!

Personally I give the edge to yurov. I predict he is looked back as a top 5 prospect in this draft. Tbh Minnesota has the best prospect pool now for how good it is at the top and how you have 6 guys competing for a 3 spot which 4 teams best prospect wouldn’t even compete for. Only other team that can say something like this is Buffalo and they aren’t as deep as the wild so that’s why they r my two

It really is a tossup. IMO rossi is higher but Wally has a strong argument for best goalie prospect in the NHL. Wallstedt and askarov are the top two with cossa as a 3 and then the floodgates are open to the rest of the league.

Different Idea
You'd have to give up a lot more for Necas. I think he is only moved for a top 6 forward for the Canes. Hunt probably tops out as a bottom pairing player and Khovanov at this point is a warm body for the AHL.

Big Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div>I think Fiala's streakiness is blown out of proportion. It basically has to do with the quality of linemates he has. He gets 1 decent linemate and he takes off:
19-20: 44 games with Koivu/Parise 9g/18a.
19-20: 20 games with Staal or Zucker and puts up 14g/13a. (looks like a hot streak at face value)
20-21 to Boldy being called up: 81 games with junk 27g, 34a.
After Boldy was called up: 51 games, 26g/38a. (too many games to be called a hot streak)
125 games with junk linemates 36g/52a
71 games with just one (not 2) competent linemate: 40g/51a
It's hard to rack up points when you're stuck with guys that are black holes in the o-zone.</div></div>
Solid breakdown, thanks doing the legwork and pulling the numbers.

Hertl Attempt 3
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yikes</b></div><div>I disagree but my issue with the MIN team is the financials which would require moving guys. I don’t think they’re out of the running because they truly need Hertl imo. But they’d have to have a plan already in motion because buying out Suter (not Parise) was a bad idea imo.</div></div>
Okay but the financials and the quality of the team are exactly why they're out on Hertl. Even if they sign him to an extension, the first four years of the contract, the last few years of his prime, are entirely wasted by a team with 15M in dead cap. A team that's going to be a fringe playoff team barring some miraculous performances by 21 year old guys.
Every team in the league could use Hertl, and Minnesota may need a good center, but that doesn't make the fit any good.

Yes that is true.
Also, while we are on the topic of goalies, one of the most underrated goalies people forget was an absolute stud in net is Miikka Kiprusoff. Kipper was a top 5 goalie in the league for almost his entire tenure with the Flames, among the likes of Brodeur, Luongo and Hank. Not to mention, he and Iggy both single handedly carried the Flames to six straight playoff berths in the mid to late 2000s.
